Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
I think the first bit of info you'll get from our heavy hitters is that it's really early in the season, which makes it difficult to assess if Detroit or Arizona are going to be buyers or sellers this season. Especially given Detroit is sitting around .500. With that said, if you really like Tomas, I can assure you that you can get him and that you won't spend much to do so. His value, as we learned in this thread earlier, is very low. Arizona probably wouldn't mind being done with that contract. Just note, his defense is atrocious, so you're going to have a DH issue when Cruz is back off the DL.
You could probably do a straight up swap for with Arizona in which SEA gets Tomas and ARI gets Chase De Jong. If you get any follow-up on this deal, it will be that you're overpaying. But if you really want Tomas, that trade should get it done.
If in some weird universe I went for it but wanted Conger added in (Ruiz has been terrible, Zunino isn't much better and is also on the DL for a month and the only other option I have is Tuffy Gosewisch and he is miserably bad) would it take anymore then who you mentioned? Hank Conger is the 4th catcher on the roster and isn't playing, is pissed off and his ratings have taken a tumble because of it so I'd hope he wouldn't cost me much more if anything to get him added in.Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Got offered Dee Gordon for Sean Doolittle as the As. In second offseason. Not playing currently so i have no stats. This is the year i try to contend. I havr Brandon Phillips at 2bd, Marcus Simien at third and would have Gordon at short. This goes along with Khris davis, Billy Hamilton and a drafted rookie in year 1 who had a monster first year all in the OF and i have schwarber as my dh (traded cotton and montas for him)
Is gordon for Doolittle realistic and fair?Last edited by kenp86; 05-07-2017, 02:54 PM.Oakland A's - Seattle Mariners - Detroit TigersPittsburgh Steelers - Green Bay PackersDetroit Red WingsComment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
It's not that the Blue Jays can't make it happen. Braun has a limited no trade that won't allow trades to Toronto without his permission that's why it's unrealistic

Thanks guys! I'll have to wait and see if Arizona is out of it come the deadline. If so, that's a deal I might pull the trigger on!

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Yeah that's the only thing that makes me hesitant about Tomas, his fielding and having no where to play him once Cruz does come back. Seager is over at third, I signed Liddi out of free agency and he mans 1B, Valencia will be back shortly before Cruz most likely and then I'll have an extreme log jam with Tomas, Valencia, Liddi, Seager and Cruz with only 1B/3B/DH to cover. Cruz would be the given at DH, Seager at 3B so that leaves 1B and Tomas doesn't play that position anyways but both Liddi and Valencia can. Maybe Tomas isn't the right fit then, only option I see is Cruz at DH, move Seager to 1B and slot Tomas in at 3B and have Valencia and Liddi off the bench.

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
I only like the Tomas trade for the pop he brings and only if I can get Conger in the deal as well since catcher is a black hole for my offense currently. His contract and poor defense are a bit worrisome but with the way my pitching has been I'm not sure I have a choice if I expect to win games.Comment

Would Cain cost less than Pollock? If the royals were out of it?

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Mmmmm I'll have to see who's out of it in another month or 2, but that's intriguing. I need another OF who can hit for contact and speed. Cain or Pollock would be ideal. Now I just have to hope Kansas or Arizona start losing!

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Another guy you could look at is Corey Dickerson. Somebody could correct this deal as well but I think it's close. Might have to give up a little more. But that at least gives you three guys (Dickerson, Cain and Pollock) to keep an eye on.

Thanks! I like Dickerson but I don't think the Rays would move him in season, in the division. I'll report back with an updated list when I get another month in!

So I am starting a Yankees franchise and I was curious what type of value I could get in a trade for Masahiro Tanaka and Aroldis Chapman.Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
When I start a franchise with a team that made off season moves that don't fit the direction I want to go, I "sign" them to another team where they fit or just undo certain trades.Last edited by dran1984; 05-08-2017, 07:21 AM.Comment
