Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
I'm currently at the deadline. 54-51 with the Pirates and need to get rid of Josh Harrison who blows (.210 but was injured for a month and a half). I REALLLLY want Hernan Perez (.260 10 HR 10 SB).
However, I really don't know if those two guys would be traded within the division. I definitely think its possible, but not entirely sure.
The Brewers are 10 games under and in all likelihood out of the playoff race.
Could you guys see any deal that Harrison moves in for Perez. I have Aaron Hicks/Rickie Weeks from previous deals and would love to package either one of them along with Harrison for Perez. If you don't think Perez is realistic throw out any other 2B/SS that you think I could get realistically. Thanks!Comment

You want one of the better players on my team (and I imagine, cost controlled as well). For the privilege of doing business with you I get to eat 16mm and have Markakis block whatever potential player I have coming up (or have a very expensive bench warmer). Along with getting to select a couple of your 2nd tier prospects because you'd like to keep your elites.
If you don't like Markakis, cut him. If someone picks him up, you're off the hook. Otherwise, you're going to have a tough time getting a competitor to buy into that deal. You have the pieces to get something like this done but you're going to keep that contract and open up to the possibility of moving one of your top prospects (depending on the player).
Who did you have in mind? Come up with a couple and I can help you value them and that way you can choose. However, at 57-41 and 4 games up (no way this works out in a sim, I'm assuming you're pushing the buttons for most/all of your games), why mess with success?
I love this response and think all responses to trade proposals should be handled as the "other GM." I don't mean to sound snarky, but, I think this kind of response helps put the process and all the moving parts into perspective, rather than just trying to rip off the AI while telling everyone else you want to "keep it sim." Again, I don't mean to point anyone out, I just think this is a perfect example of how the user should look at trades and when you're in the middle of it all sometimes that can get lost on the user.Last edited by RyanLeaf16; 05-14-2017, 10:31 AM.Comment

I think it would take more than that to get Perez. I, as a Brewers fan, love Perez, so I am likely overvaluing him a bit. His speed and versatility is phenomenal, but with a pitching piece you could probably work something out. There might be an intradivision tax just because of how much Milwaukee values Perez

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Just wanted to ask a general question to the more experienced franchise players out there. (I'm a relative novice at the franchise and MLB the show in general) Do you guys implement house rules on trading? Restrictions for more realism and immersion that anyone would like to share?
The reason I ask is because so far I am 47-31 with my NYY franchise. I lost Didi and Judge for 2-3 months about 60 games into the season. I panicked and traded for Rajai Davis and Renato Nunez for Camarena (who was lights out in AA) Solak and Chase Headley. I could have called up Frazier but, I didn't believe his bat was ready for the majors. Average numbers in AAA didn't impress me. Headley was honestly terrible for me. hitting .189/.290. Did I not give up enough or did I give up too much?Comment

I personally play with 30 team control, so each trade is manually done by me. My house rules are essentially to evaluate every trade from an unbiased lens. Some trades I've made in the past could be construed as rip-offs or unbalanced, but for me it's all about context. Look at the haul for Sale for an example of a trade I think the Sox may have lost as far as FV is concerned, but made total sense in context.
Other guys here evaluate based on surplus value alone, which is a great tool to make sure you aren't totally ripping someone off. You can find the algorithms for future value and surplus value on FanGraphs among other sites if you're interested.
At the end of the day house rules really come down to your level of comfort and what you're looking for out of a franchise. Looking at comparable trades, using future value metrics and asking questions here are all good tools to use in shaping your franchise. I'd also recommend 30 team control. You don't ever have to control the other 29 teams, but having checks and balances really helps me get immersed in what I'm doing as a team and allows me to challenge myself by keeping my rivals competitive.Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Hi guys I'm in the second week of June in my blue jays franchise and I'm looking for a everyday LF and a 4th outfielder. I had acquired Billy Burns from the royals earlier on for an 4th outfielder but about 10 games ago he tore his ACL and is out for the rest of the season. I made a list of guys I like for both LF and 4th OF spots and I would like to know their values. The only guy I don't want to trade would be Vlad Jr. SRF would also be nice to keep but that would probably be hard to do.
LF- Looking for guys who can hit.
JD Martinez
Stats- No stats since he is in the minors due to his injury (OSFM)

Span

4 OF- Mainly looking for good speed and fielding but I also have some guys in there that can hit well. Most of these guys i think won't cost more than a C or two but would like to make sure.

Granderson-
Stats- 49 G 5 HR 13 RBI .215 AVG .649 OPS (I know he has a 15 mil contract but it is the final year of it and I hit well with him)
Thanks for the help.
I dealt House and Oberholtzer to KC for Orlando and it's been great. I have been getting as much playing time as I can for him because he's making it hard for me to keep him on the bench.

I don't see the Phillies having much interest in Kemp, they already have a few similar (but better) players. Other than that I don't see a problem with it.Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Question for you guys. Im with my Dodgers in first place by like 5 games through almost May 5. Im already looking into the future even though I'm playing well. Ive traded around already and got Yelich, Bradley Jr, and Adam Jones. Jone however has been playing bad. Should I trade him for and MLB player now or prospects? If so what deal should I make with him. Im loaded everywhere for my MLB team now. Also, possible deal to maybe give up Bradley Jr and Rich Hill for Odor? Let me know. Thanks.Comment

How did you get Yelich and Bradley Jr? What do you have left? The Rangers would never likely want prospects and I have to believe you've traded your best ones since you acquired 3 big name OFs

MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Still looking to deal for a lefty reliever in my Cubs franchise. I'm nearing the end of June and have a 7.5 game lead in the NL Central (46-30).
I'm in a position where I don't feel like I have to make a move, but I'd like to. With that being said I'm not willing to move Happ or Jiminez.
I've had my eye on Sean Doolittle from the A's for a while. He's not having a great year and the A's are pretty much out of contention (last in the AL West).
Doolittle has a 3.38 ERA in 26.2 innings pitched. A 1.28 WHIP, his FIP is 2.59.
I'd be willing to let Candelario go but he's struggled for me hitting just .152 in 33 at-bats this year. However, he is still a B rated prospect and is just 23 years old.
Additions note: in the game the A's are not willing to do Candelario for Doolittle, straight up.
