I think teams are wary of trading for Braun. I don't think the DBacks would be ready to give up on Archie anyways.

What are you looking for? Alone we can talk about a back end starter or decent bullpen arm. It wouldn't make much sense to trade him for a bat. But...if you hang onto him this year and he puts up another 2.5+ WAR season, with that contract, you could package him with a good prospect and get yourself something real nice.

This is one of those guys that even if he goes 1.5 WAR, the surplus is overflowing and he turns 30 this year. Real good trade piece for the upcoming offseason because every club can pay that contract.

You are off base with your comments on Otani. He can be signed by ANY team in the MLB when he gets posted. He can't get posted for another year or so because he doesn't meet the new requirements. But after that he is open to sign with any team in the MLB, regardless of their spending the year before.

I would like to get a decent starter. Anyone that can be a dark horse and lead a very poor padres rotation.

Actually you are wrong because he is getting posted this winter if you haven't heard the news, so the Braves are one of the teams that can't sign Otani due to the Braves surpassing their international bonus pool last year signing Maitan and Otani is under 25 years old so the teams that have surpassed their international bonus pool in the last 2 years cannot sign Otani.

You're right, my bad. I was under the impression that the Japanese team had no intentions of posting him until he was 25. I have been slacking on my MLBTR reading for awhile. So I hadn't heard the news that they intended to post him this year.

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread

I just started my Indians chise with OSFM V1.5 dropping. I'm playing the second game of the season now.

So it's April, about late May early June I want to try and add Rajai Davis back into the fold. So two questions I suppose.

1st: I have never liked Austin Jackson, do you think Oakland would be interested in a package around him for Rajai?

2nd: If they would not be interested in Jackson at all, what would I need to put together to net Rajai?

Bonus question: If the Athletics wouldn't be interested in Austin Jackson where/what should I be looking for?

                    Thanks,
                    HCP

I'm hoping to get a right handed reliever or a long relief arm for the pullpen as it is pretty weak. I know goins doesn't have much value but I'm hoping there is some team that could use him.

                      Thanks

I second this one. Any teams out there in need of defensive middle infield depth that could part with a reliever, LF or 1B?

The White Sox would definitely ask for Barreto. Quintana is really valuable. If he was going to be traded for a couple B prospects and a C. He would have already been dealt

Your best bet is going to be to wait until a team has an injury at middle infield. Then Goings will be more appealing but like others said he isn't super valuable. You're looking at getting a middle reliever back

He can not. I'm a Braves fan. If Atlanta looks for a top of the line pitcher or an upper end catcher the other team will always ask for one of Albies/Swanson/Acuna as the headliner. And teams will want some of the great pitching prospects the Braves have collected. Altanta will not trade Swanson. That should be clear. But other teams will still ask for him.

Riley has questions about his bat speed, and has defensive questions that likely move him off of 3B and either to LF playing slightly better defense than Matt Kemp or becoming a 1B.

Here is his scouting report from Eric Longenhagen:

"Riley began the year struggling with any sort of velocity and then improved the timing of his footwork, quieted his hands and started hitting. Late in the year, he was turning on plus velocity. He has plus raw power (at least) and has improved his body composition since high school (when he was a heavy 230). But at just 19, with some general stiffness to his actions, Riley is pretty likely to kick over to first base as he matures. The adjustments he made last year were encouraging, but reports from late in the year indicate some vulnerability on the outer half, and it’s going to be difficult for him to clear the offensive bar at first base with his current contact profile. He was up to 94 on the mound in high school, so if he can have passable range and actions at third, the arm might keep him there for a little while."

That isn't the report of someone who can headline a deal for a top of the line pitcher. And look at the Lucroy deal for what it takes to get an upper end catcher. They're expensive
