Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
A bit of a different kind of question but I think it fits here.
I have Craig Kimbrel on my team and he's been awful - 6 blown saves, an 0-4 record, and an era over 6. He's making 7.8 million for the season. What would a team normally do with a guy like this? I'm talking managing a baseball team. He has one minor league option left, but would a team really send down someone making almost 8 million dollars?
I moved him to the setup role and his first game back he blew open a tie game in the eighth which we ended up losing. I sorta wanna get rid of him but I'm not sure what a fair move would be. Maybe a prospect + Kimbrel for a reliever from a team thats out of contention? Is that fair since he's on a one year deal?
But if he's that bad, nobody will touch him. If he works it out, everybody wins.Last edited by hampshirestags; 04-22-2017, 04:24 PM."for love of the game" - B. ChapelComment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
My two cents... a team would "normally" let him pitch through it. With the little bit of data you've given, I am going to guess he's only around 11 IP at most so I'm less concerned with the ERA and more so with the blown saves. If he's hurting the team that bad, he will lose his closer spot but would be moved to the middle of the pen, not as a setup. Get the pressure off him, give him extra side sessions, he only pitches when the club is down/up 5-6 runs and then only against guys he's had success against in the past or a guy that is 0 for his last 3 games. If all that still doesn't work, he may develop a groin issue or a sore shoulder towards the beginning of August and get buried by the September call-ups and also not make the playoff roster.
But if he's that bad, nobody will touch him. If he works it out, everybody wins.Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Thanks everyone for the answers. Kimbrel is at 24.1 IP, so I think thats about as long of a leash a closer would get before he loses the job at least for a while (maybe too long a leash?). I'm gonna leave him in the bullpen and do exactly what your saying. Just needed go get some ideas of what teams options are in this situation so it could then be up to me to decide whats the best based on my teams position."for love of the game" - B. ChapelComment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Video game twist... with 24.1 IP, if some of those appearances have been sim games, the 'brilliant' CPU manager may be over-using him or pitching him on back-to-back games when his energy is low. You might want to quick manage a couple games and get him some work by putting him in a position to be successful.Comment

Hard no on both. Kemp and Adonis have no value

To get Buxton would be extremely expensive. He still has the potential that made him the #1 prospect in baseball. You'd have to start with Allard to get him and you'd have to add to that.
Puig has bounced back and we've talked about him plenty. The Dodgers would DFA Kemp and Adonis. So your offer is the Dodgers losing Puig for a couple players they'd cut and taking on around $24 million dollars just to get a throw in prospect. So that won't work. To get Puig you have to give the Dodgers something that makes them better, not the Braves trash

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Im using 30 team control and wondering whats the easiest way to reverse a trade? 2nd week of the season the Tigers and Astros exchange C James McCann for CF Jake Marisnick.
Astros now have Gattis, Brian McCann, and James McCann as C.
I tried to reverse the trade but neither team would accept the offer.
What do I have to do?Miami Heat
Miami Marlins
Miami Dolphins
Florida Panthers
Miami Hurricanes
Chelsea Blues
InterMiami

This is what I'd try but I have no experience with 30 team control. Shouldn't you be able to do any trade since technically you are every team?Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Take a low level prospect and make them an A potential, up some other ratings if you have to. Add them to the trade so the other team accepts. Repeat as many times as necessary then go back and edit the players back to normal.

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
I'm less than 2 weeks away from the trade deadline in my Blue Jays franchise. I've managed to get us to first place in the AL East so I'm looking to add a left handed bat. I was thinking Carlos Gonzalez from the Rockies since he is a free agent and they are 9 games out of a playoff spot. His stats are:
89GP, 328AB, 16HR, 54RBI, .296AVG, .346OBP, .867OPS, 2.0WAR
So he is definitely having a good season but hopefully the fact he is a free agent at seasons end will make him a realistic target for the Jays. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
I'm at the deadline and I'm 51-54, which has me 2 games out of the wild card spot.
Can i even get anything for the following players, or should I just release them? Although I'm in contention, I am not going to give up any prospects as this team doesn't have a realistic shot at beating the Cubs or Dodgers and winning the WS.
SP: Jhoulys Chacin 7-6, 3.64 ERA
SP: Jered Weaver 8-9, 2.97 ERA
SP: Trevor Cahill 7-6 4.23 ERA
SP: Christian Friedrich 2-7 3.57 ERA
RP: Brad Hand 5-4 5.14 ERA
RP: Ryan Buchter 2-2 2.54 ERA
SS: Erick Aybar .252, 2HR, 25 RBI
3B: Ryan Schimpf .204, 16 HR, 48 RBI
Going down the to minors and veterans.
AAA:
SP: Clayton Richard 7-3 2.19 ERA
SP: Jarred Coast 3-3 2.90 ERA
A:
RP: Craig Stammen
SP: Robbie ErlinLast edited by franch1se; 04-23-2017, 03:17 AM.Comment
