So i just bought the game and am still stuck. I started a game against the Angels and Ohtani was in the rotation but not the starting pitcher for the day, yet he wasn't DHing. His name wasn't on the lineup screen and when the game loaded and started he still wasn't in the game.



Now I am using a custom roster that had him in AAA for injury but I moved him back to MLB but that shouldn't affect it I would think.

He can’t DH the day before or after he pitches. If you’re in franchise. If you’re in Play Now I’m not sure what the problem is because I’ve had no issue putting him in the lineup.

Oh right, you know what I bet it is I just put him as the rotation for play now and used the number 1 guys of Skaggs. I bet it saw him in the second spot in the rotation after Skaggs and didn't use him.

I'm confused, did the game add anything different this year to allow Otani to DH or play in the field even? Or is it just the same stuff where at the beginning of the game you can replace whatever player in the lineup with him?

So I put ohtani as the 5th starter and he played in 4 games to start the year at DH... he started the season really well batting .430 3HR. 10RBI.. However, his name didnt pop up on batting average leaders which he had more than enough PAs and would have been 4th on the list
He did show up on the HR RBI. Runs and walks league leaders list

its better than last year but SDS needs to go all in on this and let it work for more than just Shohei. Even if they have to make it not available for use in DD or online play

Thought about this the other day. What happens if Shohei Ohtani ends up on a NL team? Will he only be able to pitch on days he starts since there is no DH slot for the game to put him in?

pathetic that it can't be done in franchise mode... another who cares it isn't a DD thing to fix from SDS.

anyway the way to get around it is last years trick. just call up a unknown player after you send down the 5th guy in the agnels rotation. sub him from DH for Ohtani. so you don't burn a sub. in the first innings. it would then be like it never happened.

then call up that 5th guy in the rotation again when its his turn.

This is the only work around I know of. the only issues are it takes 1 min of time and the lineup screen at the start of the game will look annoying, but you sub Ohtani in first innings as DH it will be like he was there all along.... obviously this won't work if you are simming though

Wouldn't you burn through that 5th starters minor league options if you keep sending him down like that?

You only use one of their options for the whole year when you send them down.

Am i the only one who has noticed that Ohtani is always low energy? Like when his rotation spot comes up he is like 1/3 normally some times he hits 2/3 but never anywhere near full unless i push his start back a day

I have been wondering this too at first I thought maybe it’s because he is injured in real life and that was to prevent your from pitching him. Does anyone have a good strategy on how to utilize him so he has decent energy?

Right now I push him back 2 starts every time so he pitched off day dh dh off off off pitches. I was hoping for something better sucks cuz he's like the second best hitter on my team this season

Is there a other two way pitcher in the minor ? I'm planing on a playing an two way pitcher in franshise as locked player? I don't know can you create one that would.

Has anyone tried putting Ohtani as the long reliever to see if you can DH him more and spot start him when he has energy? I won’t be able to try until tomorrow so if someone tries it let me know.
