Considering what he’s doing right now and that he is 100% if the time in baseball headlines, it’s a complete oversight that he can’t be in the starting lineup as a DH

If the developers really wanted too add to this and promote the game even more and have the biggest major headlines on this sport in their game they have to patch this in. And make it like they did with the haircut with hutch meaning dissent matter if we already started our franchise they went overboard to get him in the game and did the comontary to say 2 way player yet oversight this.

It's a misfire, it's a misstep, it's a lot of things but oversight isn't one of them. The dev's aren't sitting around in San Diego saying, "I didn't add 2-way player capability. I thought you did."
There ARE plenty of oversights in the commentary though. I cant stand to hear Dan "Mushmouth" Plesac talk about Brandon McCarthy being 210 pounds. I will give SDS credit though, they removed Plesac's line about McCarthy's nonexistent slider lol

Just did a play now with the Angels at home. Picked Ohtani as my pitcher and it had him at DH as well, the game did this, I did not put him at pitcher and DH (which isnt correct as there can be no DH if he hits on days he pitches). Game is glitched out when he comes up to bat. You cant hit with him, it just freezes the movement of the players, and if you pinch hit for him the pinch hitter stands on home plate blocking the view of the pitcher and you bat with Ohtani.

could this be fixed with either roster update/patch so that we can utilize Ohtani as it should be?

Highly doubtful. Because they have to change the way they’ve coded it I think.

Am I missing it, or is there no way to view his career hitting numbers in franchise? You can obviously find season and career pitching, but unless I’m blind it seems his hitting numbers will always disappear from year to year.

Yeah, I can’t find them either. But I don’t recall ever seeing pitchers hitting stats really, other than when they come up to the plate.

Can’t believe they still don’t have ohtani set up right in the game. Should have been done at launch, they knew he was coming. Seems all SDS cares about is diamond dynasty

They are there you just gotta scroll because the hitting stats for pitches are buried

I think pitchers at bat stats show only in the current season and dont show carrer stats

Fail to see how this is relevant. Getting him set up to be able to pitch or play the field in DD is just as important as making it possible in Franchise. Obviously there are limitations with the way the game is programmed. They were able to code in the proper mechanic for Pat Venditte. I'm sure they'll get it figure out for Ohtani as well.

Well he is out now with a Blister so that could be a 6 month injury just ask Rich Hill and Aron sanchez about how long Blisters take to heal.

Anyhow as for DD argument I think what he meant was they are spending more time with bat flips and cards and stubs and all that rubbish rather then adding in a 2 way player into the game in which that time could be used.

it's probably 'cheese' to have him used in DD too

I think I figured it out (why he's note able to be in the starting lineup)

I'm playing a Franchise with Ohtani on the Cubs. He's in the rotation as the third starter. If I were able to put him in the lineup as, say, my starting right fielder, what would happen to my lineup when he pitches?

Yes, I know he plays in the AL with a DH, so this specific instance won't apply for most people, but if there was an option to turn on" his ability to be placed in the lineup, it could cause some strange stuff happening if he were to move over to a National League team.

As someone who was very disappointed about the Ohtani thing, I think I get it now.

The main point being: there are consequences to everything that gets coded in the game, like the people clamoring for the ability to import new rosters into an existing franchise (what happens to the trades that already took place in your franchise? What if the Yankees were really bad in your franchise, but in real life they traded for Sonny Gray? Why would they do that if they were 20 games under .500?). There's things that we don't think about that the devs do (sometimes this just might involve things outside of DD, I don't know) and there's also weird things that we do in our franchises that the devs would never think about doing, which is why we see some weird bugs in the first few weeks.
