Re: Shohei Otani in The Show
Thanks, I’ll check it again....but when I looked at stats the toggle was between “position players” and “Pitchers”. When I clicked on pitchers it was just pitching stats and not batting. I tired scrolling down on the position players stats and I don’t recall seeing any pitchers batting stats.Comment

Re: Shohei Otani in The Show
PYS didn't even have a decent 2 way option for Ohtani until a couple of years, so maybe we can cut SDS a little slack? At first their solution was to make 2 separate Ohtani's; a hitter version and a pitcher version, which was pretty terrible. You could have Ohtani in RF and pitching at the same time and have him come up twice in the same line up.Comment

Re: Shohei Otani in The Show
Yeah Bumgarter has been used as a DH last year as well when they were playing in inter league games. So why didn’t SDS see that and try and make at least DH accessible for pitchers.

Re: Shohei Otani in The Show
They didn't even update the barebones replay cutscene that was already outdated a year ago (Managers haven't had to leave the dugout for over a year now). I don't see them doing anything about this until next year, if that.Comment

Re: Shohei Otani in The Show
And I could be wrong but I don't think there is a way to do that in the Show in a manner that turning the DH off wouldn't affect the other team either.Last edited by kehlis; 04-04-2018, 04:58 PM.Comment

You’re correct on both counts.Comment

Re: Shohei Otani in The Show
As for the workaround posted earlier to use Ohtani as a DH, if you pinch hit for the DH, you lose the DH for the rest of the game and your pitcher (the REAL pitcher that game, not Ohtani) has to hit. Not sure how this is a workaround.Comment

Re: Shohei Otani in The Show
He would remain the DH for the remainder of the game so it is a workaround but you lose a bench player to accomplish it.
The only way you lose the DH is if you move the player designated as the DH to start the game into a position in the field as some point in the game.Comment

Re: Shohei Otani in The Show
This is what I'd do to DH Ohtani without losing a bench player in the process. This is using default rosters. I would not DH him on days Matt Shoemaker starts. On days I wanted to DH Ohtani I'd send Shoemaker to AAA & replace him with 3rd catcher Juan Graterol. Graterol would be pencilled in to DH but would never actually bat. Ohtani would pinch-hit for Graterol immediately. When its time for Shoemakers turn in the rotation, swap him back for Graterol. There is no limit how many times you can swap the 2 during the season. No, you only use 1 option a year, then that player can be shuttled back & forth during that given year as often as you want. You'll need to get your position player back down to the minors in case he's needed when Ohtani doesnt DH. And make sure your milb team doesn't use your pitcherOSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23
