I just traded Smardzija for Otani. Best trade ever! Angels don't deserve him. He should belong on a team like the Giants where they can utilize his bat skills much more.

Re: Shohei Otani in The Show
Lol his bat skills will be used appropriately as a DH. He doesn’t need to play the field to utilize his bat. The Giants would’ve done something very similar to the Angels if he signed with us. Only difference is he’d hit the days he’s pitching, and he would play a corner outfield spot like once a week. He’d actually probably hit less in the NL than the AL really.Comment

Shohei Otani in The Show
I expect a nice ratings boost for Ohtani-san coming up soon. Perfect through 6 1/3. 12K’s. 3 homers in 4 games. There a few pages of this thread that are laughable now haha.
Oh and according to Statcast his home to 1st time is the same speed as Dee Gordon. So that 25 speed is excruciatingly bad.Last edited by GoDucks1224; 04-08-2018, 05:37 PM.Comment

''He's Babe Ruth'', ''He's Cy Young''.I know it's still early and 2 games against Oakland does not a season make, but I'd be surprised if he isn't on the all-star team come July. Then on the other hand he could be a Bee in Salt Lake. Both sides should just sit back, enjoy the ride, let the season play out and see where we stand come September.

I want to stay away from the hyperbole and just want to see him make this effort and hopefully keep earning plate appearances (and hopefully more plate appearances)."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment

Re: Shohei Otani in The Show
Just throwing this out there since people keep saying "It's just the A's."
The A's are actually a really good hitting team.
They suck at everything else, but shutting down their offense is actually pretty impressive.
Don't look at his opponent, watch the guy pitch. Some of the stuff he's done is unreal.
Biggest concern for me is a flat fastball but his change of speed is so impressive that it can easily combat that.Comment

People who say ‘It’s just the A’s’ are the people who will move the goal posts no matter what he does.Comment

Re: Shohei Otani in The Show
As far as Ohtani's pitching, he could have blanked Houston twice but that's still two (2) games. As for his hitting, he keeps up that pace, the Angels gonna need to find him some more AB's. Back on topic, I kinda suspect the expected attribute rating bump at the end of April to put him back to his default overall. Still don't understand why he fell so drastically in the first update.Last edited by Caulfield; 04-08-2018, 09:10 PM.OSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Re: Shohei Otani in The Show
The biggest thing I see as far as a weakness for him is his fastball. It doesn’t look like it has any movement on it. He just needs to mix it up with his other pitches and when he throws it, he has to keep it down. It’s still early, but he is out of the gate good.Comment
