I hate to be pessimistic but even if Otani played all of next year, I dont believe 2 way players were coming.
I hope I'm wrong & Sony gives San Diego the resources to add it in MLB 19.
I believe they are most likely keeping it out for reasons involving online cheasing.

I can definitely see that being the case. Would be nice to have it, but i wouldn't get my hopes up.

Also if Ohtani gets the surgery, I think they should rename it Ohtani John Surgery.

I've got a question for guys who have been using the workaround..

Will pitchers playing in the field be defensive disasters(other than Ohtani, who has lf/rf secondary)?

In franchise, the idea is that I acquire several 2-way players.. Ohtani, McKay, Greene, even Bethancourt and other lesser talented 2 way guys.. This way I can carry about 14 pitchers, always have fresh arms, and have them play in the field when necessary.

I do this in my franchise. The problem is that we aren't allowed to edit secondary positions for pitchers. There is an old editable Jason Lane that has OF as a secondary, so I have used that for James Jones, Jordan Schafer, and Anthony Gose. I can use them as a lefty specialist, pinch runner, pinch hitter, or defensive replacement. Unfortunately Bethancourt and McKay can't be edited to C or 1B.

Now it looks like he could DH the rest of the year, and maybe not pitch at all. I wonder if they change his position on an update.....

They could do that but it's useless for most of us who are playing halfway in our franchises.

In the latest update he is no longer a two way player. Made him an outfielder.

This is why I waited to start by franchise, hes in the latest update as a hitter. On DHS. Which he still can do.

And looks like he has been cleared to begin a throwing program so I'm just gone wait to the trade deadline at this point. Before I start.

the update making him a DH actually makes this problem worse now we can't start him as a pitcher now at ALL! it was better the way it was with our workaround of sending down bringing up etc

So I won't re start a franchise now at all seeing I have the workout on my current one

I know, I know. It' either too early to ask about next year or too late in the cycle for them to get it done.

Yeah but I ain't buying the game just because they added the ability to have full two way players in the game, and call that a new updated feature. It should have been patched in the this years game.

I'm not giving up on it yet. After all, its not like this is a difficult thing to program. Its just a matter if SDS wants to or not. I know franchise mode isnt top priority right now but really the only thing thats keeping this out of 19 is the same thing that hinders bunting: Online Cheasers.

If he plays next year as only a DH, they will make him that just like they did this year on one of the updates and claim he's not a 2 way player. It's way too easy of an out. Hope I'm wrong
