Add Matt Davidson and Kaleb Cowart to the list of players attempting to be used as 2-way players next year.

Yeah if Ohtani had not got injured I think that their would be pressure with what happened last season about putting him as a 2 way player

But now hes gone for all of next year I can't see him at all making it. we will see in 2020 by then a PS5 could be out

He's not really gone all of next year, he will be their DH. But to your point, they can ignore his pitching on next year's game and act like they don't need to do something about two-way players.

Yeah, they’ll definitely use his injury as an excuse not to bother with two way players. Even though we play franchise modes which extend well beyond next season...

Hopefully its something they started working on and finished BEFORE the extent of his injury was known and they figure they may as well include it in 19.

I’d love that being true but I have serious doubts. I love these games and this dev team has done great things for the fans but they seem really disinterested in adding this mechanic.

Firstly, will Ohtani DH in '19 or sit the whole year?

Secondly, if he does sit, does that mean he wont be on the default roster? Surely he'll at least be on Angels Single A 15 man team.

And thirdly, and lastly, what are people here around OS plan on doing to him in 19?

The plan is for Ohtani to DH full time in 2019. He might not be quite ready by Opening Day, but he is expected to be the everyday DH once he is capable.

You see this is what is going to be even more of a pain in the arse! I bet he will be a pitcher in the game and mid season meanwhile we are all halfway through our franchises. and he will come back mid season to DH and SCEA will not change him to a DH till that happens. meanwhile we already have started our season and OSFM all done as him as a pitcher.

Hes had TJ surgery. Hes not pitching this year and its been known that hes only going to DH this season. So they have no reason to put him as a pitcher and not a hitter in 19

But then you get the issue of not being able to use him as a pitcher in franchise after 2019.

I would be surprised if The Show doesn't program in two-way players this year. Ohtani accuracy is too important to the integrity of the game.

Yes and that is the major issue here, hell last year he was the ONLY rookie ever to make the game by that I mean being on the default roster. and be a real player

They went all in on the effort of getting him in the game, but didn't put in 2 way players. I actually think it would be better to keep him in as a pitcher in the game then we could at least pinch hit for him like I did last year if you read back a dozen pages the work around for doing this. but if they make him a DH only we are screwed in being able to ever have him pitch again. at least as a pitcher we can do both with a workaround.

Just because he is injured doesn't mean they should simply just ignore the 2 way ability he has now. they went to the effort last year of getting him in the game they should go to the effort of making this unique thing happen.

There are other pitchers not expected to pitch this year, such as Michael Kopech. Does that mean those not expected to play this year are not in the game?

For the sake of Franchise mode, they all have to be in the game, minors is fine.

The last live update only had Ohtani as a RF, not pitcher. However, Kopech was in the game. So what gives here, both Ohtani and Kopech are not expected to pitch this year.

Kopech will be in 19, but will miss the entire 2019 season due to TJ Surgery. Kopech is not a 2 way player like Ohtani. Ohtani won't pitch in 2019 due to his TJ Surgery, but will basically be the Angels full time DH sometime after opening day.

Both players will be in MLB 19 The Show.
