This is a question that's come up a lot in thread, and I'll tell you what I tell everyone. There is no solid number that makes someone a high vision player. Attributes are guidelines, not absolutes. You have to scout players as individuals, and on field performance is a far better yardstick then attributes.

HOWEVER, 60+ is usually when I start seeing success with strats dependant on vision.

      Errors and Omissions

Because I'm to lazy to edit.

      - The down influence does not have a greater impact on power. It has the same negative impact that a push swing does. I have hit plenty of homeruns with a down influence, especially the down/pull hybrid swing.

      - The Down/Push hybrid swing does stack the check swing buff.

      - Push and Pull swings do not open up the timing window, at least not in a literal sense. What they do is increase the odds of good contact on earlier or later timings. Remember good contact does not necessarily mean a hit, or even that the ball will be in play.
For example: When pick no influence, a batters odds of contact might look something like this (keep in mind this is just an example, batters odds change drastically depending on the pitcher they are facing, their vision, their contact, and various other factors)

Very Early: 0% chance of good contact, 0% chance of any contact
Early: 15% chance of good contact, 30% chance of any contact
Just Early: 25% chance of good contact, 50% chance of any contact
Good: 80% chance of good contact, 95% chance of any contact
Just Late: 25% chance of good contact, 50% chance of any contact
Late: 15% chance of good contact, 30% chance of any contact
Very Late: 0% chance of good contact, 0% chance of any contact

Now when that same batter pulls, their odds might look more like this:

Very Early: 10% chance of good contact, 40% chance of any contact
Early: 35% chance of good contact, 60% chance of any contact
Just Early: 50% chance of good contact, 75% chance of any contact
Good: 70% chance of good contact, 85% chance of any contact
Just Late: 25% chance of good contact, 50% chance of any contact
Late: 15% chance of good contact, 30% chance of any contact
Very Late: 0% chance of good contact, 0% chance of any contact

Their chances of contact are lower on good timing, but overall they have a much better chance at getting contact. The timing window is technically the same, but effectively, it has opened up.

Push has the same effect in the opposite direction.

      - Discipline battles a batter's own power. So a batter with 63 discipline and 23 power will have a relatively easy time check swinging, while a batter with 63 discipline and 93 power will have a tough time checking their swing.

Guys question if I guess the pitch and location correct should i use an influence and should I use power?

My god, why isn't this thread stickied at the top for all time. Some good stuff and would definitely cut down on the same repeat questions and threads.

Seems like youve changed from push swing on 0-2, 1-2..to drive swing? IVe been doing this with my lower vision guys..seems to work nice.

Hybrid push/drive most of the time these days, along with a contact swing. I really don't see any reason not to max out vision, contact, and check swing on those counts.

                Re: Directional Hitting Guide

So to be honest, I haven’t finished reading the entire original post, BUT I wanted to say how much just the breakdown on directional hitting has helped me already. I’ve always used directional hitting and I have always been a patient hitter who tries to work the count, but I guess I never had a complete understanding of directional hitting mechanics and therefore didn’t use it often. I got curious today so I was looking it up and found this. So that’s what I originally came here for, but now that I’ve seen an improvement in my batting in just one day from that alone, I’ll definitely read the rest.

Anyway, I (RTTS) just ran the count full in the top of the 12th, game tied at 3, man on first with no outs. Except for a too-high fastball on 2-1, everything had been low. Remembering what I read here about downward directional hitting, and with the pitch expected to be low and trying to avoid a DP most of all, I held the left stick down and when the pitch came in low as expected I crushed a stand-up RBI triple off the base of the wall in right-center! I am a RHB, so this was opposite field, too. One-run lead for the Charlotte Knights and that went on to be the final run as we won 4-3 in 12.

There was a similar plate appearance I had earlier, where it actually resulted in an opposite field home-run, although not nearly in as crucial of a situation in the game. But yeah, just wanted to stop by and say thanks for the breakdown and let you know specifically how it’s made an immediate impact for me! I look forward to reading the rest of the post!

                  Re: Directional Hitting Guide

                  Directional is an amazing interface.

Different challenges, different thinking, have to consider your hitter, but still let's you approach an AB.

I've always used it as a changing trajectories and timing windows, and it's amazing for that alone. Going oppo with Gallo because I go up-away and still only have to think "good timing" (because influence does the rest) feels great.

Then learning what TWW put up as well just took it to the next level.

                    Re: Directional Hitting Guide

WW, here is one I attribute to your guide. Late in a topsy/turvy game and with the Red Sox trailing, Tampa Bay went to the lefty Vidal Nuno to get through Devers /Bettintendi. Both managed to lay off his funky low in the zone slow speed stuff and draw walks. Up comes Christian Vasquez with his 38 power rating who I use exclusively as a Hybrid push/down hitter. I remembered the discussion around lifting low in the zone stuff and went Hybrid pull/up hoping only to stay out of a double play. I got a low floaty changeup and not only managed to lift to safety but scraped it over the Tropicana short porch! Never lost the lead again that. Thanks again for all your hard work in putting the guide together. It has certainly enhanced my enjoyment of the game.

Thinking of switching to Directional. Do you guys think it’s viable in online ranked games? And after reading through the guide, since the meta of online ranked is 90% off speed low in the zone, should you be just holding up on the stick almost every pitch to combat that?

I find that holding up helps the most against fast sinking pitches, like a sinker, a hard splitter, or a 2SFB. I don't have a lot of data for that swing on a straight change, but I do know that for stuff like a low curve you're usually better off with something like a push swing.

However, the up swing is in general better at lifting low pitches, so my best advice is to try it and see what happens.

Cool thanks. I know in the OP it says to almost never use the UP swing. But with everyone and their mother throwing everything down I wondered if it would help lift the ball and generate more line drives as opposed to hard grounders.

Anyone know any good sliders for gameplay with both directional hitting and classic pitching? I prefer to use both as I am not a big fan of the mini games in the other interfaces.

Some good, bad and "what the hell" through the month of June. I'm using your impact sliders.

My team is littered with the streaky, low vision, power hitters. A given guy can go on a 10 game hit streak, or I could go ice cold with him..the good thing is that I have so many of them, someone is almost always on a hot streak.

Bruce started out in the toilet if you remember lol..I ditched all influence except for drive swing when behind in the count..and he took off. His vision is up to 60 with morale, so now Im pull influencing with him, and he's on a power tear.

Cespedes is on his 2nd DL stint(shocking)..he has a pull profile..I started out heavy pull influence with him, got off to a good start, and it just kept on working.

Goldschmidt was tough to figure out. I stopped influencing all together with him and he started spraying doubles all over the field. I have ZERO pull power with him though. I cannot pull a homer with him at all..all of his homers are dead center-right center. He hit .320, 5 homers 21 RBI for the month of June.

Upton I thought would be similar to Cespedes..but for some reason he just isnt. Pull influence wasnt working, so i ditched all influence for him except for vs lefties

Scooter Gennett another guy who is balanced, but plays like a high vision, pull power hitter. started out the of the gate hot, and has stayed consistent.

While I am Still learning everything here I have to say ut has been a god send. Using A&S clean interface and applying these concepts I went from crap rookie to banging out 10-15 hits a game on all star. Thinking of trying HOF. I play w the Astros and have struggled to hit w Altuve. First few games I went 1/17. Started drive/pushing and am getting better.

I need to get a better hold on archetypes and when to do what. Curently I pull unless I have 2 strikes or a man on first then I push/drive. Need to go back and reread the OP and be better abt the concepts but so far my batting has increased by 10 fold.

                                Thank you
