Re: MLB the Show 18 Wishlist: PLUS Things they should PATCH for MLB 17

Franchise needs revamped. 10 years ago we were able to run more of the business side of things by purchasing various things for the organization and budgeting for scouting, development, injury recovery, etc. I wish they would bring that back! I wish retired players went into available coaches. Madden 05-08 had this and that made the franchise much more immersible. Sticking with coaches, minor league coaching staffs would also be great!

Re: MLB the Show 18 Wishlist: PLUS Things they should PATCH for MLB 17

Defense needs to bring a sense of unpredictability, over the last few years in this game, 95% of the time I can tell if my fielder will get to the ball or not. Ground balls maybe a little less so, but fly balls you know if you or the CPU is going to catch it. I want to be able to track a fly and decide on the spot if i need to dive or not. This game if you are experiences you know when to dive for any type of it and know that you probably will be making the play.

I know with the ball physics being overly nerfed from the start of the year where they were overkill, if they could find a happy balance i think that would improve playing defense where gets predictable a few weeks into the games. I would love to see this as making plays in the field is one of my favorite parts and this used to be a part of the past baseball games with less to work with.

MLB the Show 18 Wishlist: PLUS Things they should PATCH for MLB 17

Love the Show but I need some things fixed for this year's game.

        - Editable Coaches/Draft Classes: Since we can't hire a retired player who isn't already in the coaches pool, being able to create them and hire them for managers is crucial. And fix the attributes for coaches, a manager isn't going to make a guy's speed decrease over a season. The drafted players are all hideous looking and have stupid equipment. Full sleeve on one arm and half sleeve on the others for pitchers, Nike gloves and Adidas cleats like that should never happen.

        - Better head presets for created players. 2/40 head presets look like normal human beings. The rest look like aliens.

        - Slower player regression. Top tier guys are still regressing way too early in their career. In every franchise I've done Mike Trout will retire at the age of 36 and finish with a 62 OVR and 500 HR. Please extend players careers and slow their regression.

        - Batting Stance Filter. I can't take scanning through each veteran, all-star, legend batting stance to find one with an open stance, high hands, elbow not tucked, and a signature HR swing.

        - The ability to put ANY* HR swing on ANY* batting stance.

        * Unless there is a 1 hand/2 hand follow through. The most disgusting animation in the game is when a guy has a 2 hand follow through but the Signature HR swing is one handed and there's that glitch at the top of his swing where it switches. But if you change his follow through to better represent his HR swing, you lose that HR swing.

        - Switch Hitters have both a Right Handed stance and Left Handed stance as well as Signature HR swings from Both sides of the plate

        - Separate Windups from Stretch in pitching animations. Let a created player have Kluber's windup but deGrom's stretch.

        - More HR running the bases animations but make them play everytime that player hits a HR! You would think this is already a thing but nope. Manny Machado can hit a home run then not do his point to the sky while crossing home plate.

        - Fix dirty outfield walls, looks terrible

        - Broadcast fielding camera is terrible. Why is it off set and not directly behind home plate but centered either on first base/third base side of infield depending on where ball is hit. That’s not very realistic at all. I would love if the cameras matched the stadium’s real life camera angle like the pitching view. Each stadium and team broadcast has a different height, zoom would love to see that represented in MLBTS.

        Franchise:

        - Retire Numbers. Even if you don't show it in the stadium along with the other retired numbers but just prevent players from wearing it.

        - Track Season to Season Awards! After year 2021 you don't know who won MVP in 2017. There is absolutely no way of finding out.

        - Player Card Awards! How many times did Mike Trout win MVP after the year 2025? No idea.

        - Critical Moments are awesome but only works when you're on that team's page and simulate through day. I play 30-Team franchise and would love to play all critical moments for every team. But only way to do that is to simulate through day on each team which of course doesn't work. If I'm on the Mets page, go to Calendar, View Today's Game and simulate every game individually that day, Critical Moments should pop up for each game.

        - Minor League Stat Tracking

        - All-Star Break Home Run Derby has to be played at 8pm EST, not when it is still light out.

        - Rotating Interleague schedule

        - Game logs for simulated games. I see in the box score my team came back 4 runs in the 9th inning. Who got the big hit? Who hit the walk off homerun??

-Possible Idea, I play all 162 with the Mets with accurate lineups and roster moves for all 30 teams based on what happens in real life. I keep trades/call ups accurate in my franchise. I would love to see a Franchise where it follows the real MLB season. For example, each day the real life transactions will be made in the franchise. If it's April 30th and the Dodgers call up some prospect in real life, when you get to April 30th in the franchise, the Dodgers call up that propsect. Obviously you would have to stay behind present day throughout the franchise but each day you play will have accurate real life transactions and lineups, pitching matchups, except you can play the games and have your own stats. Again you wouldn't be able to sim past the current day in real life, or even a week because of the minor league call up.

        Postseason:

        - Start Times!

During NL/AL DS, the 4 game days, in real life they are slotted throughout the day, 12pm, 3pm, 7pm, 10pm start times. In MLBTS, 7pm,7pm, 8pm, 8pm.

During NL/AL DS, 2 game days, they still split it up, in real life either 4pm and 7pm or 7pm and 10pm depending on home team. In MLBTS 1pm and 7pm or 7pm and 7pm.

During NL/AL CS, 2 game day, split up 7pm and 10pm or 4pm and 7pm. in MLBTS 7pm and 8pm.

World Series start times are fine.

        - Announce Starting Pitcher Rotation prior to each series. In real life the day before a playoff series the manager says "Keuchel Game 1, Verlander Game 2, McCullers Game 3, Morton Game 4, Keuchel game 5, Verlander Game 6, McCullers Game 7"

In MLBTS if your 5th starter is slotted to start game 2, that's who is selected to pitch based on your Pitching Rotation in menus. But if you change the rotation and put Keuchel in the 5th starter spot to make sure he pitches game 2, his moral will be angry because he's an "Ace"

        - Better celebration animations

        - More in-game emotion! They had this in 2016 but didn't see anything in 2017

        Diamond Dynasty:

        - Madden has 3 different game modes in their game. Arcade, Sim, COmpetitive. In Arcade its all about fun, high scores, big plays, diving catches. In Sim it's about real gameplay, penalties, strategy. In Competitive it's for those Online H2H gamers where it all relies on the player's skill, no wide open passes being dropped or overthrown.

If MLBTS implemented this, Diamond Dynasty wouldn't be full of dropped flyballs, random fielding errors, missed tags, slow fielding animations that decide who wins and loses, it'll be purely based on player's skills.

        - I don't see the fascination with 5 different types of Willie Stargell. If anything just let there be a Rookie and "Prime" card and there's a mission tied to the "Prime" card using the Rookie card like they had in 2016. But seeing the Rookie, Breakout, All Star, Hardware, Veteran Impact and Postseason version of the Dante Bichette who all play relatively the same is over-inflating the game and makes getting good cards via post game drops/packs wayyyyy too rare and the ONLY way to get good cards is through the market.

        - Programs are cool

        - Pepe Alazar is impossible to get

        - Offline Battle Royale. I love drafting a team and playing for sick cards. But online play is often times more frustrating than trying to put a screen cover over a touch screen phone without air bubbles. If we took Battle Royale offline, same concept win 12 games with drafted team, lower the level of rewards based on your difficulty (Play on Rookie all 12 games only recieve a Bronze card. Play on All Star win all 12 get a Gold Card, play on Legend and win a Diamond card).

        - Different lineups/squads for Online Play, Conquest/CPU play and Mission grinding.

        -RTTS

I played an entire career in RTTS for the first time ever in 2016, played every game, every at bat of his 17 year career. And it was awesome. But I had to take a break from RTTS in '17 because I was drained.

And I'm glad I did, the documentary style looks annoying and unnecessary. Forcing you to change positions, still no contract negotiation, still no endorsements/equipment contracts.

Equipment Contracts being instead of wearing all diamond equipment and wearing 5 different brands which is unrealistic. In real life a player signs a contract with Nike and wears Only Nike Equipment. But if you wanted to do that in RTTS you wouldn't have diamond level equipment. Instead offer us Nike or UA or Adidas contracts and either a Bronze, Silver, Gold or Diamond level that results in what kind of attribute boost we get.

        - I played catcher in college and would love to be a RTTS Catcher. But i often times turn off all fielding appearances because it makes me play a ground ball to first base and make me call every pitch. If in RTTS I could just play the Stolen Base Attempts, Pop Ups, Bunts without having to call pitches, it would make the Mode a lot more fun.

Just a thought, what do you all think?

I haven't gone through the thread but I'm sure it's already been mentioned....

The ability to have a 2-way players. Seems to be more and more of that the past couple years. Anthony Gose was just signed by the Rangers to be a 2-way player. Then there's Bethancout, Ohtani, Jordan Schafer, a couple picks this past season....

It was frustrating having Bethancout and Gose as a position player last year and I couldn't change them to pitcher.

Things they can still fix this year in MLB 17:

              - Pitchers need to get injured more often when they get hit with the ball. They also should not be able to recover so easily after being hit with the ball. I'm sure they can tune this in a patch. But i wouldn't want it if it will break something else.

-(This is not that big of a deal) But the Scea Roster makers should pay more attention to detail when it comes to equipment editing. They still haven't added Aaron Judge's high socks, taken away Starlin Castro's socks. etc. They already have the option to change these things. So why not use them. Nba 2k17 is beating MLB the Show in this department. They keep their players up to date with very close attention to detail.

-They messed up the colors on the Red Jerseys when they were great last year. Black Jerseys also look bad and washed out. They look gray. They have added matte helmets in the latest Roster Updates so I know they can change Jersey Colors. Hopefully they can update this in the coming months.

-They need to fix the eyes of the batters when batting. When i am pitching from the pitchers view. I can see that a lot of the batters are staring off to left field or right field when they should be looking towards the ball instead.
Evan Longoria is one of the examples. Every time I am pitching against him i can tell he is looking towards left field instead of looking towards the pitcher and the ball.

              MLB 18 Wishlist:

              PRESENTATION/SOUND:

-They need celebrations and high fives in the dug outs when scoring a regular run. They only show celebrations when you hit a homerun.

-They should get rid of Matt Vasgersian. His voice is annoying. (But that's just my opinion.)

-Next year i hope to see the new helmets with the face guard.

-I also hope to see a new better looking Large elbow guard. All the new equipment in the game looks really good except for the GENERIC LARGE Elbow Guard. It looks out of place.

-They should add the option to wear gold/silver chains outside of the jersey. Not just tucked in. For pitchers at least.

-Also options for the top button of your jersey to be unbuttoned. I know the button idea might be a little extreme but it would add more personality to the game. If NBA 2K is adding mouthguards to their game, then I don't think this is that extreme.

-They should add an option for baggier pants than the ones they already have in the game. Sabathia wears his pants even baggier than any options they have in the game. They should also add an option to have baggy pants with high socks as well. Curtis Granderson and many others wear baggier pants with high socks. This would add to the visuals of the game. (Though its not that big of a deal, i am just very O.C.D when it comes to detail.)

-Instead of the beach ball they should add little pigeons flying on to the field. Lol

-They really need to improve the textures of the outfield grass in all the stadiums. They still look very ugly to me.

-Tattoos should be in the game. At least give the option to design your own tattoo an add it to your own Road to the show player. And also give us the option to add it to the players already in the game.

-Game face. This should have been an option already. Let us take a picture of ourselves and put our own mugs in the game.

-Players should wear their actual team uniforms in the All Star games. If you have to remove RETRO Stadiums to have enough space to add this option in the game. Then do it!!!!!

              GAMEPLAY:

-You should be able to dive into the stands to make a play.

-They should also add some collisions when fielding. Collisions at first base. Collisions with the catcher at home plate. And collisions in the outfield when two outfielders are running towards the ball at the same time.

-They should also allow you to move in the batters box. They have it in Retro mode. Should also be in the regular game. I know it would be hard to add because they would have to make it look more natural than just having the batter slide back and forth. Mvp baseball 2005 implemented it pretty well.

-Give us the option to create our own batting stance. I know this is easier said than done. But it would be cool to have the option to mix the upper body batting stances of let's say a Gary Sheffield (*I know he doesn't play anymore. Just an example.) with Curtis Granderson's lower body stance. etc.
"Players should wear their actual team uniforms in the All Star games. If you have to remove RETRO Stadiums to have enough space to add this option in the game. Then do it!!!!!"

Ramone addressed the all-star uniforms before: can't be done without severely slowing down the frame rate.

                1. Bat girls in the game. I've actually seen more bat girls than bat boys on tv and in the parks.
                2. Edit Managers' names.
                3. More celebrations like they promised last year (only saw a handful after Hrs and outfielders after wins)

I hope the devs make it possible to give pitchers secondary positions, and.or the ability to make a pitcher a hitter and vice versa.

There is a good chance were going to see this possibly happen in the near future, with Otani. Its probably more likely that he just pitches, and on days he dont pitch, he will just DH, or if a NL team gets him, he will probably just PH, but I kind of think we might not be too many years away, from possibly seeing a few 2 way players, although I dont ever see it being wide spread, by any means.

But the ability to change a pitcher to a hitter and vice versa, shouldnt be difficult to add in, and we do see it from time to time.

I was just coming in here to speak on this. it isn't just Otani, there are a few guys around the league that play in the field and pitch now. Anthony Gose, Brett Eibner, Ike Davis all converted to pitchers in the minors and also played the field. Ike Davis and Gose won't be in 18 since they didn't play in the majors, but the ability to edit their secondary positions would be huge.

                      1. Fix the grass. Looks like carpet.
                      2. Fielding is getting better ... but there are still hiccups with momentum, diving, jumping. Better fielding cameras.
                      3. Option to turn off retired numbers (or a workaround like they used to have)
                      4. What's with the dirty outfield walls?
                      5. Edit Coaches and Managers
                      6. Expansion/Relocation
                      7. Uniform edits/creation .. replace seldom-used unis with other options
                      8. Organ music
                      9. More classic parks: Comiskey, Tiger, Ebbets
                      10. Be able to download rookie/impact players into ongoing Franchise on a player by player basis

I’m going into 18 with realistic expectations. I’m sure they’re not going to make many adjustments to Franchise. I’d be ok if they just made coaches editable and make a similar mode to Madden’s cloud CFM. I understand it may take more time since rosters are larger and there’s more roster movement in MLB but my patience is growing thin with the price of the game and the size of their team.

Would really like a sculpting tool when it comes to facial hair. Sculpting would help out with length and shaping when trying to give a player a legit goatee and other combos. Some of the combos don't match up very well and it looks bad at times.

                            Some quick thoughts.

                            Atmosphere

                            1. I would love to see more wear and tear on the field. I played Pro Yakyuu Spirits back in the day and the wear and tear on the infield was great. As soon as there was a play at the plate, the chalk will look as someone slid into home plate, etc. Same thing when players took their batting stance. It just brings a bit more detail to the game.

                            2. More field specific/stadium specific aspects - example: batters box at Dodger Stadium - chalk lines are smaller than normal, etc.

                            3. More Broadcast cam specific to the stadiums - this one would be difficult. But the fielding broadcast cam at each stadium is different (height/location). Similar to what they do for pitching, but this time for fielding. They added Retro cam this year, which I am a huge fan of.

                            4. Crowd - Still seems that he crowd is avg in terms of noise, etc. Be good to see more crowd cheer at crucial times of the games, 2 strike count, turning double plays, getting out of a jam, etc.

                            Gameplay-

                            1. Love to see more catcher movement pre/post pitch that looks more fluid. They implemented different setups for catchers this year, but they could branch out even more. Would be awesome to see some catcher frame pitches on border line strike zone. Especially on those pitches outside zone that umpires call strikes on.

                            2. Fielding animations had improvement this year, but there is still too many canned animations, especially in the outfield where fielders get stuck into moving or crashing into wall after making a play. Should be a catch/plant/throw and maybe accuracy takes a drop when making such throws.

                            3. Hitting engine needs work. I do like the direction they where going with the hitting engine, but, there needs to be some work on inside pitches going oppo against walls, etc. Also the curve on the ball at times is border line ridiculous. There's no way a lefty should get jammed inside and be able to almost curve it back into play down the left field line.

                            Diamond Dynasty -

                            1. Hitting engine online - 120mph exit velocity on a oppo ground ball - yeah no.

                            2. Make lobbies where you can pick the style/difficulty - Sim, Casual, etc. Meaning, I would like to be paired with people playing zone hitting using the PCI, and maybe some pitching settings (All-Star, etc). Maybe rewards on higher difficulty yield better cards, etc.

To build off the crowd idea, they should take a page out of NCAA Football's book and implement a home field advantage action. The controller could vibrate at different rates depending on the situation and circumstances.

                                To patch:
How the simulation handle the long relief pitchers...It's totally stupid right now. I see game of 2-0 being send to long relief in the 5-6 innings with all the other pitchers in perfect shape. And the sim let them pitch 3 innings, sometimes finish the game. In one season I had more long relief pitchers with saves then my 8 inning pitcher. So all the middle reliever are under used. I consider this a major bug.

                                For MLB 18
-I wish for a continuation of the franchise overhaul.
-Contract extension for the players and coaches.
-Counter offers from players or agents of players...depending on what they want. Not just a slider system anymore. A real simulated interaction of some sort.
-Easier way to steal bases in game.
-Players that don't stop at first when there is an obvious double and that you still hits L2 frantically!!!
-I like to see dust+wind animations, bug's cloud, pigeons, small cats, sea birds. Like random rare events or something.
-Give us a proper and EASY way to see RHP vs LHP batting stats in the roster lineup of the franchise.
