The mode was buggy since inception. You had to MacGyver, experiment work arounds, use a lot of brain cells trying to get the mode to work. Which many times became dead ends, wastes of time, unsatisfactory results.

Hopefully a new well designed working online league franchise mode is put in one of the future releases.

You don't see the way you come across? "They don't care about us! It's all about money! We're forgotten!" It was already stated the reason why. The entire online code was rewritten which didn't leave enough time to rewrite online franchise. That explanation is not good enough for you. Instead you complain that they are all out to get you. Even if it is completely overhauled and brought back better than ever it still wouldn't be good enough for you. I've seen the entitlement in all areas in this place for 9 years. You haven't. Nobody is out to get you and ruin your gaming life.

I don't even know why you are on this message board if people being upset bothers you so much. Nobody said a franchise mode being brought back wouldnt be good enough so you can stop with the hyperbole.

My gaming life isn't ruined but it also doesn't take any effort to type up a post. You seem to put a lot of emotion into it so I can understand why you think the rest of us are so devastated. It's wack. I'm glad most of the world isn't like you so willing to just shut up and be happy with whatever they get.

Yeah I agree with Phillies sentiment in terms of “taking my ball and going home” attitudes on this.

If the mode was as popular as Diamond Dynasty it would have had resources allocated to re-writing the code for 18. But it is quite obvious online franchise did not have nearly the traction it needed to be a priority this cycle and being that the online code was totally re-written....well this is a decision that is for the best. And with the track record of SDS I am quite shocked people are giving them the finger. Because some posts in here come across as just that. A giant FU to them.

They did not give online franchise players the finger. They told them the truth. The truth is.....the online code was totally re-written, they did not have the time nor the resources to re write online franchise and they could not release 18 with online franchise mode.

Why not take a deep breath, keep playing 17 for your online franchise leagues if that is truly all you play and look forward to a re-vamped online franchise mode.

And if you play offline franchise mode, RTTS etc etc....well picking up 18 is a given.

I venture to say the number of players who strictly only play online franchise mode is less than 1%. And I am pretty confident in that number.

It was a bare bones, half baked mode compared to offline franchise, RTTS and Diamond Dynasty.

I really empathize with the online franchise players. Yeah it stinks. But it is not the end.

This is actually a great thing. Because now we know they are going to re-work the mode. Now they have a chance to do so and really give that community a much better mode. Do you really want the same bare bones mode you have been complaining about for years?

If they had simply just re-written the code to match the new online code....would that have been satisfactory? I think not. I think the voices would have been loud that we are being ignored.

Now the ball is clearly in SDS’s court to revamp online franchise.

Knowing them and their track record.....I am confident they will.

There has been hyperbole posts of leaving the game and moving on, and some harsh posts in that vein. Some not so much.

I think Philliesfan was pointing that segment out.

For me this was something that was predictable (scraping online franchise for a cycle) as it has been dormant for years upon years and a bugy mess. Heck DD online last cycle was horrible too. They had to re-think their server and online stability gameplay for 18.

It’s needs a cycle of full attention to get it right.

You also fail to realize that the OS community, which you are only 30 posts into, is not the end all consumer base for this game. We are a very small portion of the community for the game. Yes, the developers browse these forums. No, they don't cater to every single thing everyone wants or asks for for reasons they know. Just because the developers browse these forums doesn't mean they think OS is the only consumer base. They look at consumer data as a whole and they made the decision to scrap it this year. It was one of the unpopular modes and like I said, online code was rewritten. If you set high expectation after high expectation on yourself you will be disappointed no matter what anyway.

I would assume they will address it during the franchise stream coming up in a few weeks. I'm sure they would elaborate more on what was written about it on ShowNation.com. They haven't said it's gone forever.

That just makes the point even stronger. Online was a mess for all online modes on 17 (DD and Franchise). They had to take a drastic step and re-write the code and DD is a far far more popular mode than online franchise. It stinks short term. But long term I think this is a great thing for online franchise.

Not that hilarious, it's been a long time since they touched it and haven't shown any real interest in fixing it. A lot of things get taken out of games and rarely do they return.

Maybe it returns, maybe it doesn't, but I think it's a long way from a sure thing.

Not sure if anyone will make rosters with 18 ratings for 17, but there are a few guys that have taken OSFM and updated it with all recent transactions.

Been playing OF since it inception in MLB14.

Me and my 3 buddies would always be in the same division and fight it out. We played 10+ seasons every iteration. It was great to have.

But it was broken, as we all know. There's a huge list of issues that hardly even make it a franchise mode and we had to use countless workarounds to avoid the franchise going haywire. I mean how is it a franchise mode when stamina and injuries aren't on?

The worst part about this news is the timing. Me and my buddies have been getting excited for weeks, ready to get cracking the bat again. Only to find out 3 weeks before release. It's truly devastating. While I Won't say SDS has given the finger, but the mode has been in since 14 and has gone untouched with hardly any response from SDS. Other then one statement a year "None if this is in online franchise."

The #'s argument is not valid due to the state of the mode. DD is more popular and makes them alot of $$$. Fine, I'm aware, but when the game was unplayable online in 14, and the mode has been largely broken since then, who's gonna play it? And you wonder why nobody played it. I'm not gonna even list the issues.

Lastly, I have said this before. If taking it out one year brings it back better then ever. I'm ALL for it. There statement gives hope, but by no means guarantees anything going forward. All we can do is hope
