EA is already bleeding money with NBA Live. No way they take a chance on MLB any time soon.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Won't Feature Online Franchise Mode

I moved from PS3 to Xbox360 when all my friends were playing NCAA on Xbox. I am currently in a good place with my family life, work life, financially to pull the trigger and own both a PS4 and Xbox1. I really only wanted the PS4 for The Show. Knowing this saves me another year.

Please understand, I'm not saying this as a fanboy of any console. I really enjoy baseball and wished X1 had a version even close to the Show. But online Franchise would be the only mode I'd be even interested in.

        Very disappointed.

If you were buying this game for Online Franchise, I think you would have been disappointed anyway. In my opinion, OF was easily the weakest and most frustrating part of this game.

Hopefully, it can return bigger and better in the future. Time will tell.

So true. With a bunch of workarounds online franchise was playable but, for me personally, was very frustrating. I gave up on online franchise this year and played some DD to get my online fix. But, for the most part, I play the Show for my offline franchise so this doesnt really bother me that much.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Won't Feature Online Franchise Mode

              Here's my concern.

Many can say 'well the amount of people who play Online Franchise is such such" but this comment is terrible.

In the end we are all paying costumers! If you don't commit time to improving a mode how do you players to be excited for it? Yes DD is a great mode and money grabber, but the way Sony went deep into development into this mode is how they should've done into Online Franchise.

I saw this on the NHL fourm and I think it relates to us who pay to play the game and our favorite mode.

"I had alot of fun with GM Connected on NHL 13 but EA says no one played it so they don't intend to bring it back any time soon.

Of course, they ignore the fact that they never fixed the laggy menus, ridiculous advance times or multiple unnecessary advance periods in the offseason. Basically, they never enhanced the mode after rolling it out. Then, they wonder why people didn't play it."

I wonder how DD would look if they don't touch it for 3 years straight..... I bet the amount of players on it would decrease too.

              And that's not rocket science.

It's more to compete vs your friends.

Not everyone wants to use a DD team to play vs their friends or play the "play now" feature.

Not sure why anyone here just assumes it'll return in 19. All we've (online franchise players) been told year after year is that we can't get any improvements because the numbers they see suggest the mode is the least played. And because it's the least played, they can't justify spending time/resources on it. So we're now expected to believe they will spend a substantial amount of development time rebuilding a mode from the ground up that supposedly nobody plays?! I'll believe it when I see it.

The mode hadn't been touched in 2 years and key features advertised as far back as MLB 16 didn't work properly. These issues should have been fixed for 17. Instead we got the absolute worst online season/franchise mode in the games history. Which probably led to even less playing (OS Vets couldnt finish a season) and now it's removed. People were angry the mode was literally untouched last year but then see there was time for an entirely new game mode like retro mode to make the cut.

I blame the studio honestly. I think they only have one developer work on the online franchise and he also works on the offline franchise section. Like c'mon, invest some money and get him some help!

Until they get him some help I don't expect him to be able to code the Online franchise fully.

I think that was one of the issues in the past, where he wasn't able to duplicate the coding for the offline to online. The online coding and offline coding are very different (I could be wrong)

Exactly. There comment leave hope, but I could see them returning to a league format before franchise. And honestly OF has gone untouched since it's inception in MLB14. Can't remember anything being added at all.

These two things are completely unrelated and there is no correlation between losing online franchise and them adding some silly bat flips. Not sure why this is a hard thing to understand.

Same here. I’m not giving them a pass on this one. This is the mode I play every year the most and you don’t include it? Simple, I won’t purchase..

Damn that's rough. Online Franchise isn't my mode but I know the feeling when your favourite way to play is removed. Sorry for anyone out there that was an online Franchise guy.

You're correct that they are unrelated and to say that those additions took away from OF resources is probably incorrect. The problem, at least for me, is for 3 years OFers have been asking for the most basic of additions (like stamina for position players just to name an obvious one) and we get nothing yet the folks who complain about the wrong beard length or wrong shade of red on a uniform get their voices heard. Optics look bad there and it's a slap in the face of us who did play the mode.

Now, I totally understand that there is probably a big difference in how you fix that stuff within the code of the game. That doesn't take away the fact that I have been a long time consumer of their product and expected to be treated a little bit better than I have over the last few yrs with this game.

Sports games are at their best when you can customize your experience however you want. We're seeing more and more sports games forcing people to play the mode that they want you to play, usually a revenue enhancing one at that. It's just sad but that is just how games, particularly sports games, are trending (and have been for some time) and it's not going to get any better.
