Although I don't spend money myself, I don't blame people at all for doing so. For most adults with responsibilities, time is a lot more precious than money. To you it might seem ridiculous to spend money, but to someone with very limited free time it's much more ridiculous to spend hours playing the market to get the same stubs. Peoples priorities are different.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Won't Feature Online Franchise Mode
Though I definitely try to stay away from micro transactions if others don't find the grind fun and have the money to spend then more power to them.
I can think of only two games I have paid for micro transactions. MLB the show when Stubs were half off. That turned out being a waste because I ended up getting frustrated with server disconnect messages and quit playing DD. The other was Path of Exile. It is free to play and a really good game so I did not mind dropping $5 or $10 to help support the game.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 18 Won't Feature Online Franchise Mode
As a father with two sons who are just getting old enough to be competitive in video games, I had planned to purchase a second PS4, two copies of the MLB The Show 18, and to play on-line franchise with my two boys.* From the earliest days of playing sports video games, the dream was to be able to play a mode like Online Franchise where you and your friends could control teams in the same universe and play out their respective franchises alongside and against one another.* I'm so disappointed to hear this game mode is missing from this year's edition.* PLEASE bring it back in the future for those who see this as their all-time favorite mode.* (Like others who have multiple gamers in one household, I'd be buying* two copies of the game if Online Franchise were available and reliable.)* I hope to see this mode back and better than ever in MLB The Show 19.**PSN: ckarlic

Re: MLB The Show 18 Won't Feature Online Franchise Mode
You know the simple way to stop Microtransactions??? to actually stop buying them!!
who are the silly people out there doing this?>? I find it crazy and pathetic that somebody actually wastes money on that garbage to save them from grinding,
and for a sports game in a fantasy feature, it is even more of a joke spending money on it
A lot of people never look at others reasoning for spending $$$ on micro transactions. I'm a father, husband and working man. I love this game and I'm just starting to get into RTTS in the last few years. I'm sorry, but the grind is too long for me. Stubbs make the mode fun for me.Comment

Working 11 hour days, I don't really have time for "the grind" I definitely spend a bit of money on stubs to build up my RTTS player. I guess that makes me pathetic.

Like going through the struggle then building up to a complete player sounds fun!Comment

Might not sound fun to some, but for me I get the experience I want and have a good time doing it.Comment

I don't find it funny although I do not do it myself. I guess maybe it would depend on the amount we are talking about.
Some people enjoy watching twitch streamers and are willing to donate/tip to show their appreciation/support. I see nothing wrong with that.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 18 Won't Feature Online Franchise Mode
Such an important point. Video gamers cut across such a huge swath of different backgrounds of players. While it may seem easy to assume that people spend money only to ‘cheese’ or whatever but the reality is that it is a far more diverse than that.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Won't Feature Online Franchise Mode
I'll add in another thing on my mind as well.
We have been hearing for years from various memberw of the OS community, ever since the implementation of card modes In games, that the massive amounts of revenue from the Ultimate team, Diamond Dynasty etc. Would be used to improve other modes in time.
It hasn't happened. Madden has largely gone untouched for 4 iterations now. The show offline franchise is largely untouched or with minimal improvements. Nhl, fifa etc. Only 2k has a robust franchise mode. It's annoying. Card modes are ruining franchise mode. We gave it time, now it's been 4+ years and DD, UT are still the huge focusComment

MLB The Show's Battle to Fix Online Play: "If You Can't Play it, It's Kind of Pointless, Right?"
INTERVIEW | Sony San Diego's Ramone Russell talks about online play, big gameplay improvements, and the decision to drop microtransactions.
Here's part of the article that really stands out...
Online franchise was cut in this version. Is that it? Is it gone forever?
RR: I can't speak for MLB 19, but it was a tough decision. We value every single person who buys and purchases this game, and we want to do everything we can every year to make those guys happy. This year's focus was on our online technology, server speed, response time... and because we rewrote everything, online franchise did not make the cut. It's a super engaged fanbase. We won't forget about those guys, but again, I can't see in the future for what we'll do next year.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Won't Feature Online Franchise Mode
I don't read much into that...18 hasn't been released yet, they're not going to divulge what they're working on for 19, especially if they haven't started on it yet.
The point Ramone was pushing to me is online stability...if it goes well without issues, I'd suspect online franchise to be the big bet next year.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment
