That "one post" was unnecessary and without it there wouldn't have been post after post of off topic, unnecessary discussion.

Back to topic:

As I said earlier I stopped playing Online a few years ago.
When I was playing online it was fun to a point but the server issues just really killed any longevity of it.
The playing with a great group of guys was awesome.

If SCEA does in fact get the server issues better -and by better I mean there can't be any lag whatsoever.
In a game of Baseball there really needs to be flawless service- I'm sure I'd be back to online.

I hope that is the future of the Show.

Question : so for those who want to do online franchise, do they just keep MLB The show 17? Will it still continue on that game or will they kill the servers for 17 once 18 is out?

This is the kicker.

I'm not affected so this news bothers me none. I've never played a franchise with multiple people, I like going my own pace...but for others, playing with other folks (friends, family, co-workers, etc.) is a big deal and is a lot of fun. I mean, look at the online Madden community. There seemingly is always issues with online, I remember a few years back that it almost seemed FORCED to use online franchise to get all the features so the disconnect between offline and online has been pretty severe since its inception.

I'm sure they'll bring it back...perhaps an entire year of working on the synergies will bring it better than ever in 2019. I think all of us would prefer a great 2019 release versus a buggy and broken 2018 and I'll bet that's what their decision was.

i dont play online at all so im fine with it. wish they dropped that diamond dynasty instead tho lol

A 162 game season is hard to play though even on your own.

I think everyone has to let SCEA do what they have to do to get the mode right... and they will..... in the meantime

I have talked with a few of the OSFM guys and we will do something we never did before

We will simultaneously release a 2017 version of updated OSFM rosters with our 2018 so that everyone who plays online franchise can still enjoy that this year with the 17 version.....as long as the demand for this is there this will be the plan

This would be incredibly helpful and very much appreciated. Working on what to do now with our lg and this would go a long way in helping.

Bummer day for me as this was the only mode I played. We're not a big base but those of use who play OF are loyal to this game and the mode we enjoyed has been taken from us. That loyalty took a big knock with this announcement. Their rhetoric the last few yrs about why OF hasnt been fixed just doesnt match what this release suggets. It makes me think they never really had a plan for the mode.

Anyways, thank you for putting that extra work in for us who will be playing 17 still. This is a great promo right here on why this is a great gaming website.

For context, I have been playing in a Madden online franchise since madden 10, with the same people, 32 strong, all year long, 7-8 seasons a year. THAT is what makes Madden fun for me. It has it's faults but for the competition you find a way to make it work. If Madden suddenly removed online franchise, ESPECIALLY announcing it right before the game comes out, I would be FURIOUS. I wouldn't even buy the game.

So for those of you nagging on guys saying suck it up and "it might come back" just need to exit this thread because just think of how you would react if your top played mode was removed suddenly. Sadly there is no guarantee this is going to ever come back. EA's NHL series removed their OF for a similar reason and it still has no signs of ever coming back. This very well might be the end of that.

It was a bare bones, half baked mode compared to offline franchise, RTTS and Diamond Dynasty.

This is a really good example, because that was a ****ty effort as well. It was unbelievably slow and poorly designed.

If you look at games like Madden, the mode has all the features of regular franchise and good servers and it's probably the most popular of the online franchise modes. That isn't a coincidence.

Didn't people say last year they would do something like this? That they would release perhaps the crappiest OF to date in 17, cite how unpopular it was, and then just end up removing it?

Hmm, wonder why a mode that is about 80% broken/glitched/not updated was ever so unpopular?

Off the osfm rosters for 17 with 18 your gonna have everyone going got rookie of the year with Aaron judge unless you completed recreate the rookies with service time.


Also who to say they won’t shut down the severs for 17?

Ea ruined madden with that cfm garbage l, they took out 32 team control m, the only way to have it now is to spend 1 hour making 32 profiles.. and it screws up your depth charts, and you can’t even put long snappers on the depth chart at their position, it’s like saying hey you got a shortstop

There in franchise mode! why You ask?? Because ea built that franchise cfm rubbish for online it’s designed for online in that way for 1 player and 1 team only.
