I don't get some of the comments calling people out for saying they're not gonna buy the game due to this mode being removed. If you planned to get a lot of use out of that feature and it's not gonna be there, are you just supposed to be all "ho hum" and buy it anyways just cause someone else thinks you should? My guess is all of the people saying that 'it's silly to not buy the game' or whatever over this decision would blow freakin chunks all over their screen and have a complete hissy fit if offline franchise or DD or online was entirely removed.

Just because it's not a favourite mode of yours does nothing to invalidate their decision not to buy the game. I never use the mode, but I would never critique someone exercising their consumer rights and voting with their wallet to not get something that doesn't suit them, irrespective of the reasoning. That's far better than lets say, the madden forums here where the same people whine and complain year after year about the same exact mechanics being broken, but still buy the game anyways.

So hey, let's keep things in perspective here a minute instead of attacking other people for making their own decisions.

I wonder if this means that a respectable amount of time was dedicated to OFFLINE Franchise (you know, the mode that's been absurdly lackluster for years now).

I understand a lot of people enjoyed online franchise, and I can respect the disappointment in this. But, my hopes are that they really focused on offline this year, and will shift their focus to online franchise for 2019. Been waiting years for some worthwhile improvements to Franchise mode, and the stream on March 15th will determine whether or not I decide to buy this years installment.

TBH I'm not surprised at all, considering the amount of issues from the last several years. If anything, I'm more surprised it didn't get shut down sooner.

Sadly it seems unlikely, given that no one was working on online franchise mode anyway so it's not like they have extra man power by scrapping it.

If they'd made a significant change to franchise you'd imagine they would have hyped it by now to get people pre-ordering, the silence on that front suggests they've done nothing that they think will sell copies (although that doesn't mean they've not changed things, desperately hoping they've rewritten the AI)

Could care less. I'd rather see their resources put on making us an amazing offline franchise experience. Work on the gameplay AI, CPU roster management, trades etc...

I never once played a second of offline franchise and never would have but this is an entire mode being removed... no one should be ragged on if this was their preferred mode and they now choose to not buy this game because of its removal.

While it may seem like some are whining this is a huge thing and is literally a game changer for many. This is not a minor thing.

This isn't something that just everyone can say "oh well at least everything else is good and I'll get it anyways."

I think everyone has to let SCEA do what they have to do to get the mode right... and they will..... in the meantime

I have talked with a few of the OSFM guys and we will do something we never did before

We will simultaneously release a 2017 version of updated OSFM rosters with our 2018 so that everyone who plays online franchise can still enjoy that this year with the 17 version.....as long as the demand for this is there this will be the plan

People forget that these guys have to make a game every year, so when a gesture is missing to need that extra year to fix people go crazy. Most games can take a few more years to get right

Off the osfm rosters for 17 with 18 your gonna have everyone going got rookie of the year with Aaron judge unless you completed recreate the rookies with service time.

Also who to say they won’t shut down the severs for 17?

Yeah, I suppose you're right. Still holding out some hope though. The last few years around this time, for me, has always been "I wonder what they did with franchise, I wonder if this is the year".

They did say that they were working on the modes as a 2 year deal. Supposedly this year is the big year for RTTS and some new changes to franchise while next year would be the big year for franchise. At least thats what they claimed last year during the dev streams.

There have been plenty of immature posts in this thread. But calling out the one with a gif of a kid throwing a temper tantrum insinuating that's what people are doing, is pretty immature. Sticks out a bit I would say.
