Yeah as you can see I am well aware of the why.

I would love a fully functional great online franchise mode with great online servers. I would be in a league in a nano second.

    Baseball is king for me.

Hopefully they get right and it makes a triumphant return.

I had said it really sucks for those that only play OF and no other modes.

Definitely a bummer. My buddy and I were getting amped to finally play together, but alas we won't. I just hope they fix what they need to fix and bring this mode back better than ever.

      Sorry OF'ers. (Thats awkward, sorry!)

And 3 weeks before street date. And on top of that, people are telling them to get with the program and that the mode will "definitely" be back, when the track record of this mode in this game engenders anything but faith and good will toward the developers. This is not a fix, or rightly putting a bad mode out of its misery; it's a cop out.

I don't play online, but I think folks have every right to be pretty ticked off about how this whole thing went down. If the mode was so terrible and non-functional, why not cut it back in 2015 or 2016? Why string it along? A better mode perhaps could've been resurrected by now if they hadn't been as content to keep offering the same mode from 2014 until 2017.
Very well said. For me, not effected. I only play offline franchise mode when I'm traveling mostly, and occasionally at home.

But I do know my friends and many on this site use this mode immensely. It's a shame.

In a day and age when we have drones, self driving cars, and crypto-currency, you would think a company could manage to at least transition a gameplay mode popular with diehard core forum users, from one year to the next.

Especially when you release a rare alpha testing to improve server functionality.

Yeah, it's great they re-built the servers and the code...but why wait so long to do it? The lag and other server issues have plagued The Show for years. In terms of lag, MLB 2K10 played like a dream online compared to The Show, but I just told myself, "be patient, SDS will get it right eventually"...that was 8 years ago, lol...

It feels weird to applaud them for something that should've been done at least half a decade ago...especially when that means they rip Online Franchise out in the process...and we don't even know yet what the servers will actually be like this year. I'll believe it when I see it.

Sadly, the one online mode I'm the most interested in playing doesn't exist any more to test this year, so yeah...bummer.
Couldn't have said it better myself. It's the least played mode not because of interest but because the servers have been terrible for years. It's hard to get 30 users to stick with a game that doesn't work. People using the least played mode arguement is dumb, it's least played for a reason and it's not because we don't want to play, the game and it's issues don't allow it to work correctly!

It has it's faults but for the competition you find a way to make it work. If Madden suddenly removed online franchise, ESPECIALLY announcing it right before the game comes out, I would be FURIOUS. I wouldn't even buy the game.

So for those of you nagging on guys saying suck it up and "it might come back" just need to exit this thread because just think of how you would react if your top played mode was removed suddenly. Sadly there is no guarantee this is going to ever come back. EA's NHL series removed their OF for a similar reason and it still has no signs of ever coming back. This very well might be the end of that.
Correct and Madden is successful because their servers work well! There are issues few and far between unlike MLB.

IF IT WORKS, PEOPLE WILL PLAY IT! Keep up the good fight Dunkz

I still believe its the fault of DD players. When card games came around, and people stated spending money on that. It's slowly ruining all sports games.

I don't think it's important, relevant, or fair to place blame on anyone.

Right now it just is what it is. Sucks for those who lost it but the last thing we should be doing is furthering the divide among those who play the game at this point.

I shouldn't have really said players, I should've said DD being created hurt the game in general. They through tons into it. It seems like that continuously gets changed and updated, and the core players of franchise get less and less.

This isn't about DD being a money grab. They literally said you won't be able to buy the great cards, its about grinding.

Online franchise has been untouched in three years and they said they had to rewrite all of their code for the online side of the game which means the current code for online franchise would have caused the game to essentially crash because they would have had to rewrite the entire online franchise in order for it to work.

It was actually only a few years ago where all franchise resources went into online franchise. Nothing was touched for offline that year. I thought the resources would be split and franchise became too district modes.

I hope when it is rebooted it is feature for feature with offline. I would be more inclined to play online if every feature was the same.

As someone who primarily played in online franchises as my main mode of play, when I first read the announcement I was upset and even was saying to myself, “I am not going to buy this years game.”
After watching Millenniums stream discussing it as well as just thinking about what other options I do or do not have, I know I can’t stay away from The Show.
Maybe I’ll dive into offline franchise more like I did back in the day. Maybe I’ll become addicted to DD, something I’ve never really committed to before.
I do know what I will miss is a good head to head battle against a like minded simulation gamer. As long as the lobbies are still in, or play a friend, I may just have to schedule some games like that to scratch that itch.
I, along with all other lovers of Online Franchise, warts and all, am extremely disappointed. But I have decided to match that disappointment with a strong excited anticipation of enjoying game modes I haven’t dove into before.

Playing DD against friends who are like minded simulation players when servers work properly is a blast.

If they gave us the ability to create private DD leagues it would be awesome.

As of now I still will venture to try online DD once again if they indeed got the servers and gameplay as close to the quality of offline as they can.

The mode was pretty bad. We should be happy. For those that played it, you knew what it was. Now, they use the resources to improve other areas before they go to this seldom used mode...

I think the last 2 years taught them a lot about what the servers can and can't do, they cut it to improve server stability.

If it can be re added in the future it will be.
