Really feel for you guys losing online franchise. Could not imagine losing offline; even if only for one title! I do agree that slow playing this news is bad optics, even if it was with good intentions of holding out hope it could squeeze in before going gold. Heres hoping it comes back and is the headline on the back of the box. They could really make next year all about franchise both on, and offline.

After watching the Gameplay Twitch stream all they talked about was playing folks online and different things people would exploit yet they take out Online Franchise how disappointing. I wonder what online modes they will have.

This sucks for people who played it. I didn’t. But SDS is one dev company I trust and because of that I think it can make a return, and be drastically improved. I wouldn’t assume it will, like a lot in this thread are. But I think it absolutely is on the table.

I think the last 2 years taught them a lot about what the servers can and can't do, they cut it to improve server stability.

If it can be re added in the future it will be.

No, they cut it because they tailored the base network code changes to suit DD and didn't think it was worth the time to alter the online franchise network code to work with it. They basically said that.

Also can't belittle people for colors when they're straight up wrong. It's not like the people bringing up the colors are making this issue up.

If the Yankees had red belts in the game everyone would be up in arms.

So if any team in the game has the wrong belt colors there's nothing wrong with someone bringing it up in the right ways.

I understand those people in online Franchise leagues would be disappointed and angry especially since it was announced 3 weeks prior to release.  If that's what you were looking for in the game and you no longer want it then definitely contact Sony about canceling your preorder.  I tend to believe what Millennium said on twitter.   He does have communication with the devs that we don't.  Furthermore,  devs hate to take features out of a product.   What is probably the case that when management set priorities DD had priority over OLF because it is more popular and is a cash cow.  That doesn't mean it won't be back once they can re-implement using the new netcode infrastructure (assuming it works as they intend.)  Remember EAHL was cut from the NHL series in it's first XBox One/PS 4 release and it has now returned.    Heavy duty franchise management folks should have a look at OOTP 19 if they already haven't.....no sticks but great history and team management detail.

What did they replace it with ? I mean take away should lead to a give to us no ? LoL. Perhaps make a Stadium or expansion in off line leagues ??

The tradeoff should be a better online experience, from what was said in that blog PLUS what they've been saying since the alpha (one focus was hitting, the other was the online structure/stablility).

If we get the same online experience as in the past few years, there's going to be some MAJOR, deserved backlash.

Skipping this year anyway.  I went without playing it a couple of years. I got the game last year and it still felt like I was playing a 2-3 year old game. Watched some videos of the game this year and it still looks and sound the same as many of the games years before it. I'm not naive enough to believe they just couldn't get the mode into the game.  They want to gain more traction for Diamond Dynasty.  I'm glad Super Mega Baseball 2 will be out soon..  The Show needs to reinvent itself or something. It's a solid franchise. But it's stale.
