Who the hell is going to pick a defensive specialist or field general? I have a feeling the large majority will pick Bat First

Because a Diamond bat will jack those caps up to elite levels. The equipment matters too. So now you can be that Mr Reliable with great power or that defensive specialist (Lindor) who can also hit the crap out of the ball with the maxed cap and a diamond equipment buff. It is not perfect....and you won't be all 99's but it will be a superstar player indeed.

I don't like that. Is that all of the templates they have?? Why limit attributes in an offline mode anyway? Why couldn't a Mr. Reliable have 85 power? It's just weird.
Do it. (Release The Show for PC)

I think these are only infielders. Depending on if you do an outfielder or pitcher, there are different templates to choose from.

Call me cynical, but it seems like they've just found a way for RTTS players to need to buy the best equipment, which will be hugely expensive. Previously they could reach the best ratings without the best equipment, now they have to buy that or their player will be severely limited.

What about a 5 tool player? Sure they're rare but they do exist. I think we should be free to recreate that if we so desire without having to do player lock in franchise. The archetypes should be options instead of being forced, imo.

Just checked the market and the best Diamond bat has +7 contact and +7 power so a defensive specialist is never going to get above average hitting stats.

Not to mention Diamond equipment can be rare and cost between 2,00 and 14,000 stubs. And that is just one equipment slot out of many. I am seeing it more and more as a way to get RTTS players to use their stubs for equipment. So you are not spending stubs on training points one way but you are still going to wind up paying stubs if you want diamond equipment.

I love it. Having to earn your attribute increases through your play and having caps will definitely make the mode more enjoyable to me. I would always buy training points and jack my players attributes all the way up and lose interest. The stat caps, along with the archetypes, will make your player more realistic. The generated created players look awesome. Well done SDS.

Interesting point. He did say that micro transactions were removed from RTTS, so do we still earn stubs overall with gameplay in RTTS. That way we could still buy packs or equipment without spending money.

This. And better logic. Too many generic players have weird/scary looking facial hair and faces. And they rarely have licensed equipment.

My biggest thing is the brand mixing. You see a lot of Adidas Cleats with Nike Gloves and Franklin Protective wear.

In real life, players sign contracts with one brand and will only wear one brand’s Equipment.

This is why I really wish they implemented that in RTTS as well. Instead of applying individual equipment based on what cards you own, and mixing brands to have all diamond level equipment I wish there were equipment contracts. Either you earn them or you collect them in card form. But if you have a diamond level contract, you get to wear all of that brand’s equipment with diamond level attribute boosts.

Yeah, I assume you will still earn stubs in RTTS. Start saving up for diamond equipment to help offset those hard caps.

I have +32 power with my RTTS RF in 17 and I have not spent a single stub or real $ on any piece of equipment. So that puts me at 97- 99 depending on Archetype.

You earn stubs from simply playing the game....you can either save up for it or try your luck at packs.

I have no issues with it. It makes it more of a challenge. But I love collecting cards and finding the elusive diamond bat or glove. I think it will be super cool.

Look at it this way. Let's say you pull a Altuve or a Judge....but you don't play DD. You can sell that card for an enormous amount of stubs and buy some diamond equipment with that haul.

It will interesting to see the market place this year.

Is that with just 1 bat, or how many other equipment slots did it take you to get that amount? Also, does equipment carry over from year to year? Or equipment is back to basic if I import my 17 RTTS?

Yeah...earning stubs from playing the game is easy enough. I pour hundreds of hours into Franchise and last season played a full season of RTTS for the first time ever. I would earn up to 10K in stubs a week just from playing the game like I normally do offline.
