Re: Official MLB 18 : Road to the Show Thread

Are the dynamic hit cameras and HR cams missing from RTTS, or are there new settings I can’t find? I only ever get the long distance follow the batter camera, which is a much less pleasurable experience for me from the base game modes.

    Thanks

I just hit for the cycle! I didn’t think it would happen because I came to bat in the bottom of the 8th needing only a double and hit a single. We were down 3-2 at the time and the batter after me hit a double which drove in 3 putting us up 5-3. Somehow, I got the chance to bat in the top of the 9th and hit a Texas Leaguer that made its way right past the Centerfielder. Overall, I went 5 for 5.

Is there a way to change it so that when I'm on base, it doesn't fast forward to the next pitch that something happens (ie: strike out, hit, walk, etc)? It makes stealing bases almost impossible, unless there is a runner on 3rd with less than 2 outs or the hitter strikes out, I can't really steal anything.

As for people being moved positions. Maybe I've just gotten lucky, but I'm about 40 games in as a power corner 1st baseman and haven't been asked to move (knock on wood).

Yes, go into settings and select RTTS options. Under RTTS Baserunning Opportunities change it from action pitches to all.

Yes. Go to Options/Settings and Sliders, find your default profile (because that's what RTTS uses and that's the profile you need to change) and go to "Mode Specific options". Turn RTTS CPU Teammate Hitting to "All". This will make RTTS games run a decent bit longer than they usually do, especially if you get a lot of hits with 0 or 1 outs in an inning. But you'll have full control of your player while he's on the bases.

Ah, yes. Teammate hitting. I said baserunning opportunities. My bad.

Well, you're not wrong either. From the description of the problem, I'm guessing Baserunning Opportunities was on "Action Pitches" when it needs to be on "All". So we're both right

Yeah, I’m honestly a little rusty on that one, I haven’t touched that option in 3 years because that was the last time I made a speedy base stealing type of player.

Made the All-Star game as a reserve in my first year in the Pro's as a 19 year old.

Got to come in the game in the 9th inning as a pinch hitter, and hit a 422 bomb to dead center, but it had no impact on the game as the NL won 5-3.

Soon as the All-Star break was over, I promptly go on an 0-9 slump in our first two games against Cleveland.

Hitting .319 with 27 HR's and 61 RBI's at the half way mark.

And I promptly follow up a cycle by going 4 for 5 with two doubles and a BB.

Used to do this, realized I didn't like the look of my player stealing 100+ bases every year lol So I just go when the manager says nowadays.

Has anyone found out how to not lose your jersey number when another player is called up or acquired that's wearing the same number?

Is this not happening to anyone else? For those that don't know, if you're (for example) #3 and another player comes to your team with that number you then take the next highest available number. Last year I had three different numbers within a month or two of my season and this year I had a new number within the first two weeks. It's always been exceptionally frustrating to me.

Right now I'm just given my player (Donnie "Moonlight" Graham) the number 77. Hoping that it's an odd enough number that no one will steal it from me. I'd love to be a more MLB-friendly number though.

It's kinda of a crap shoot you never know about the number exactly when you start in AA especially when you move up to AAA or the Show. It really depends on the team and the player that might already have your number. Sometimes you never have to change I have had that happen. What I do is have three numbers that I like or use ( 3 , 13 or 33 ) then the chances are that one of them will be available.Just an idea.

Had some fun playing with my carry over from 17. First baseman with the Marlins. I am starting off in 2018 my first appearance was the All-Star Game after the Home Run Derby I went to 2 - 3 I continue to play about 6 to 9 more games so I'm in mid-july. I'm hitting 398 34 homers and 101 RBIs. I have not had a single home run with my player in 18 yet though
