Yeah, I got into that one. Good timing with a power swing and directional hitting = good results

Yeah I am beginning to think 2B gets more action than the SS. At least in my RTTS games played to date this seems to be the case. Now you have me thinking I need to start over. LOL ... not so good for the time I have put into my SS ... ... but perhaps the right thing to do in the long run.

Didn't Ramone tease in one of the RttS videos about something that happens in the offseason, but he wanted to keep it a secret? I just simmed through one season and absolutely nothing happened in the offseason. Season 2 has already started. Seriously the only thing that happened was contract negotiation, which was exactly the same as last year.

What the heck was he talking about?

My RTTS LF for the Houston Astros 2019 season. Now that's what I'm talking about I am glad I remembered to record it.It has only happened for me one other time it was in the 2014 Show.

I thought there was supposed to be a "big" special thing during the offseason for progression? Russell had mentioned in one of the videos. He said 25 during the season and then one special one during the offseason.

I just finished my first offseason and nothing happened. Did I miss something?

To me Solid option or mr reliable are the only way to go. I mean with good equipment you can resemble your 17 RTTS saves. I can’t be a 99 contact and 99 power guy with 99 speed. I’m recreating a guy I made in 15 but discontinued in 17. He’s a 2B/LF. HE started his career at short with the Astros then I moved him to LF (back when you had Interactions) so I could go to the majors quicker. Correa was at SS in the minors as well. We both got called up at the same time. They had a stud LF in AAA, they let Altuve walk, so i moved to 2B. I’m starting him at 2B, because i already have a RF. He was another 99 everything guy. Could sim a season in 17 and bring him Into 18, but I want to start from scratch and build him up without stubs or training points.

I will continue my SS. He needs to continue his streak of MVP’s. Funny story the 2B/LF I mentioned above was my secondary player. I started my SS Bruno Burns at 2B. Then moved him to SS once Brennan Bowser moved to LF. Brennan started at Ss. Burns has played 2B SS and 3B in his career. Won Silver Slugger at each position. I get bored and moved Burns around. I move my guys around depending on need.

Personal preference for me and it's really great you can play the game the way you want to, JHMO.

if you do it as a catcher, can you play defense without calling the pitches?

Change defense opportunities to some and it should only do pop ups bunts and steal attempts.

May update (notice I'm LF now, pretty sure I got swapped due to low fielding rating):

Well, I wasn't going to hit .400 all season on Legend (really HOF). Still a really solid year so far, and I'd be really surprised if I don't make the All-Star team.

As for the position switch it doesn't really bother me - I can play LF well enough and it'll give me a chance to get my fielding up and have the AI see me more as a 2B in the long-term. We'll see how it shakes out. For training I'll probably be focusing mostly on contact for a while as I'm constantly near soft cap on CvR and the hard cap for Mr. Reliable is 99. It'll be a while before I soft cap on fielding but once I get close I'll obviously be raising that.

I also got a cutscene with the manager at one point giving me the green light to steal on my own judgement (not that I wasn't doing that already ).

I'm treating this as a marathon, not a sprint, and I'm going to plan out my moves which will help the most in the long run. I don't mind spending several years in the minors before getting my time in MLB, and getting positional need skills up before my hitting.

This is also re-affirming that HOF is the ideal difficulty level for me - I may have hit a massive peak in April but then fell into an equally deep valley in May, and it brought my performance down to something much more reasonable. Sample size cannot be overstated.

How do the Quirks work in RTTS? I see unlock levels. How do I become a good first pitch hitter? Or a good night game player? Is it just by performing better in night games and hitting first pitches, or is it something I unlock and buy? I'm pretty new to RTTS. Thanks in advance

Those are perks, not quirks. Basically they're tools that you can use to manipulate the game in various ways by using your "Showtime" points during a game. Each perk has a cost, and that cost cuts into the 120 Showtime points you're allowed per game (Showtime itself is the "slowdown/matrix time effect you can activate). You have to equip a perk in the RTTS front end menu to use it, and once you do you press up on the D-pad during a game to actually activate the perk's effect. You have to earn them in the first place by raising a specific attribute high enough to unlock it.

Perks and Showtime are completely optional - you don't have to use them if you don't want to (and for my RTTS that I'm updating in this thread, I'm not). Although you can't actually disable the Showtime bar nor its effect - you just choose not to press R2.
