I don't know what to think yet.

BIGGEST FLAW in the new system, is if you pick a hit first or power player, you quickly get bumped to DH, because your Fielding stats are so much lower than the other player at your position.

In the past this would happen (here's the flaw,) but you could use the points you earned from hitting for Fielding.

I don't know what to think. If I spend seasons in the minors because they won't let me shag fly balls in the outfield for fielding points....this game is a waste of hard drive space.

This. And it's a major problem. You can try to compensate by pouring points into categories on off days but it's not enough. Also...the negative contact points are impossible as well. You only get rewarded positive contact points with a good hit but you get penalized for a miss, weak hit, out, etc. In a game where all stars only get 3 hits out of 10 attempts...its not going to work.

Are you still able to go back to school the first year and then choose your team instead of being drafted? Had that in the game last year, haven’t had a chance to test it to see if it still works. I would really hate to be stuck in an organization I have no interest in. Thanks

I did the go back once to school thing and then after the phone conversation it went straight to the Draft, think there might of been a option in the phone conversation to go to uni one more time but I was rushed and just said yeah lets go for it so I am not too sure if that might open up the pick your team thing.

Played 1 series as a brand new 2B.

Main issues I can see:-

• We are all going to have ridiculously lobsided batters due to lack of LHP.

• Why has the camera changed when running bases. I must be doing something wrong because I cannot see where the ball has gone and I'm basically guessing whether safe to get extra base. I can understand going from 3rd to home as that's the job or team coach to wave you through, but I'm not able to see when running to 2nd or if fly ball is safe to tag up?

• Whats the point in showcase if you don't earn points from it? Whether you get drafted round 20/25/30 makes no difference to you starting in AA, so showcase games are effectively just practice. Might as well sim through it

Played a few RTTS games with a carry over save to see what would happen to my guy. I had no overall drop (73 iirc), although Mr. Reliable wouldn't rule out any of my ratings, whereas my speed was a good 15+ above the max cap for Field General. Not sure if that makes a difference initially or if what others report is strictly buggy. Also worth noting I was immediately promoted to AAA Indianapolis after choosing my archetype. Francisco Cervelli just hit the DL (it's so reeeeeaaaalllll!), so not sure if that's new roster logic in play or due to my overall rating.

Seems like they changed fielding opportunities for catcher again kalthough I didn't double check my settings). Instead of having to play out the full AB when runners are on base, I only had steal attempts, bunts, etc. While calling a game was fun at times, it could get quite tedious, especially with minor league pitchers and during blowouts.

Oh, and while batting stance creator sounded cool when announced, it's even better when tinkering with "your" stance. I might challenge Josh Bell for most stance changes...

Played a few hours of RTTS last night. Picked up from a '17 save, Had a blast! I do have some constructive recommendations, which I started a new thread for; also felt that it was important to share in here and get your feedback (hope this is okay!).

Would be great if some of the following recommendations grasp the attention of an SDS dev passing through.

1) START GAME, WATCH GAME
Allow us to select ’Watch Game’ during the intro sequence of a game, so we don't miss out on the first couple of innings (dependant on your player's next appearance).

2) RESULT PLAY
Bring back ‘Result Play’ (see every ball in play, even when our player is not involved), or give us something similar to the current ‘CPU Teammate Hitting - Half’ option for defense. That's a fantastic addition, since it allows us to watch only a part of our teammates at bats, and doesn't only work for when our player is on base; making us feel part of a team, without the game taking forever to play.

3) QUICK COUNTS
If number 2 is not possible, giving us the opportunity to use 'Quick Counts' in RTTS could also work; except for when our player is up to bat. 'Quicks Counts' is currently available with player lock.

4) BIG RED HALO
On defense, please give us the option to remove the red halo around the ball. I can deal with the 'beach ball' effect, but that halo is quite immersion breaking and not always necessary. I personally had no problem following the ball before that feature was introduced.

5) DEFENSIVE POSITION RESET
Is it possible for the game to remember where we position our defensive player for a single batter? Currently, the game resets my defensive position after every pitch. I like to play most players differently, depending on the count and the batter's handedness. Having to walk over to that location after every pitch is frustrating.

6) DEFENSIVE PLAYER LOCK
The locking of our players after the ball is in play seems to kick in way too fast.
Example: A ball is hit to the outfield and I need to run and cover the second base bag. Most of the time, I don't even get to the bag before the game locks my player in place. Or if I overrun the bag, there is no way for me to get back into proper position.

7) PLAY BY PLAY SIMULATOR SPEED
Please slow down the 'Play by Play' simulator speed. It's very difficult to follow, let alone try to get back on defense before a pitch is thrown. By the time I stop the simulator, we're usually back up to bat. There used to be an option to select different speeds. For that to return would be great.

8) DEFENSIVE OVER THE SHOULDER VIEW
Allow us to play out a pitch while holding R1 (over the shoulder view). While I like the zoomed out camera angle for defense, it would be nice to have the option to play out some pitches using the 'over the shoulder' view. If I hold 'Right stick up', I get the result that I want. It's just a little awkward. Holding R1 would be much easier. The 'simple' fix would be to remove the 'game pause' that currently happens when R1 is pressed and held.

9) DEFENSIVE ALIGNEMENT GRAPHIC
I believe that, when set to manual, the defensive alignment graphic shouldn't pop up before every at bat. At the moment, it pops up a little too much for my liking.

10) SHOWTIME GLITCH
I believe this is a glitch that should eventually get fixed. The ShowTime graphic below your defensive player stays on screen, even when the 'ShowTime Opportunities' option is set to off.

Doing one as a LF named Napoleon Dingess. Got drafted with the second pick in the 23rd round by San Francisco. I've played the first month of the season and am hitting about .340 if I remember right. No homers and 6 RBI, including a walk-off single.

Honestly, probably skipping out on this year since I can't make a high contact and high speed guy in the outfield. Someone like Ichiro or Dee Gordon. Ball Hawk's max cap for contact at 75 is too low. If the max cap was 85, I'd take the plunge. I don't care about equipment supplementing because it's not truly my player's attributes. Maybe next year they'll add more archetype options for players with high speed attributes with high contact max caps. Maybe the addition of custom archetypes. Or maybe the option of maxing everything out like before so I can set my caps how I want like I usually do. I like the idea of archetypes, but don't have one I want. Maybe they'll add some as the season goes on in updates. That's a longshot though. As of now, I literally have no 2018 season sports games....wow. Fingers crossed for next year.

Showtime Can't Be Turned Off

Crossing fingers the Showtime and slowdown feature will be fixed and be turned off in a patch.

Playing Player Lock on Game Watch the matrix effect on many foul balls will slowly make you loose your mind!

Video at 3:50 mark says it can be turned off

Oh how I wish they'd go back to allowing us to start the game that way.
Knowing the ball is coming my way takes so much away from the experience.

I am at work, so I cant verify this at the moment. I thought under profile settings, (I cant think of the sub area) I think specific mode, for RTTS if you change one of them to all opportunities it will play every pitch. Again, I am at work till 4 and cant verify, but I will look when I get home.

I got moved to 1st but moved back to RF. Things seem to be good now...just got called to the show with the angels.

Does your player potential make any difference on how your progress as a player? Sorry if this has been asked and answered in this thread, I skimmed and didn't see it.

you can do this in the game you just have pick one set of tools first. Then I assume a year maybe less maybe more into your career you will be able to choose another archetype this is where you choose your speed. Once you have two arch types the max caps will be combined between the two probably averaged out and you can have a high contact high speed guy. They specifically said this in the show stream two or three Thursdays again. Now Ichiro & Dee Gordon weren't built in one year while they did have speed and someone contacts Ichiro is an anomaly
