You should get fielding training opportunities, in the practice field category.

^^Would love some elaboration on this one.

^^Wanted to comment on this one. I'm playing SS/2B and there are times that I don't get + to reaction as well. IDK if it is time based (meaning I didn't press towards the ball quick enough) or a bug. But I'd guess that this person is having the same thing happen to them in the OF. So idk that it is related to using R3, because I don't ever use it in the IF

Sorry Robo, I missed your one request on the Dynamic Difficulty comment I made.

Dynamic difficulty is a true experience, which allows the player to excel early in their career, as they might do in AA ball, and then it should get harder, the closer you get to the majors, due to the better talent that has made it that far. So in short, the difficulty moves with you and then balances out at the upper levels. People are encouraged to play on higher, if they and like even lower levels, if that is their choice.

      I personally like dynamic difficulty.

I am in it for the long haul where it could take me one or more real world years before I make it to the show. For me it isn't about the destination, it is about the journey and I am only 20 games into my young RTTS career. I do BP prior to every game and so far I have only had fastballs in BP. But it sounds like sometime in the future that will change.
How is that possible in rtts? I was under the impression i could just see my teams batters when i am on base and could only see fielding plays if i was involved.

At the end of every play a "O-Watch Game" button is rendered for a few seconds on the bottom right of your screen. If you press the "O" button on your controller in time you will be put into the mode where you play every pitch until you press the "O" button again. Now it's unfortunate that this button is not rendered when the starting pitcher of the game is presented and why this button is not made available is a head scratcher. It should be an easy code change to make it available. But it is what it is, and we need to wait for our first plate appearance and/or first chance to field the ball. Luckily I am now hitting in the lead off or better yet hitting in the #3 slot for my AA team (I was 8th when the season started), so I am not missing that much of the game. But we shouldn't miss any of it.

Edited to add: you also likely need to make sure the batting, fielding and base running game play options are set to "All". I know my are.

Thanks for the reply I just had to be a little patient it eventually showed up but the first three times they only had the batting cage opportunities being the only available pick for me.

Re: Official MLB 18 : Road to the Show Thread

RTTS is litreally unplayable for me this year as the devs have destroyed this mode with one simple mistake:
I CANT PICK MY TEAM IN A SINGLE PLAYER GAME???????!!!!!!!!!! WHAT????????
1.for the life of me I cant understand the reasoning behind this move, I did not pay 60 dollars for a game were most of the time I dont play the other modes but RTTS. I can CREATE a character, CREATE a batting stance, CREATE a name CREATE a pitching motion, but god forbide if i pick my favorite team to play on. And please miss me with all of the well its more realistic this way. NO ITS NOT ILL EXPLAIN LATER WHY THIS IS THE DUMBEST COUNTER ARGUMENT.
                2. This was an option in most RTTS modes in the past after you through the draft you can go back to school and eventually end up on the team you want because its smart to give people options. something that the devs a stripped out of this mode almost completely. I play most of the sports RPG games as of late, and the common thread is most of the devs seam to be cool with taking more control away from the players of these modes. You want to make a 6'11 small foward slasher like kevin durant? nope we have caps to make sure your not as fast or can shoot as well as a player thats already in the game. You want to make bryce harper? nope you will never be able to match his ratings because your a middling draft pick and no matter how you play in the ACTUAL games it does not reflect in your ratting or how you will be called up. Now i am fine with caps, the impossibility of getting drafted higher than the 28 round, even not being able to pick exactly what points i want to put where. I can deal with all of that only if i can PICK MY TEAM. I dont want to deal with all those bad chances on a bum team like the Oakland A's and that is no offense if you like the A's but I don't wan to struggle and grind on a team i have no attachment to. Which brings me to my final point
                3. This change does not make it more FUN and more importantly its not REALISTIC at all. I bombed the rookie showcase and the two games on purpose I beaned every batter that i faced and threw like 20 straight balls to the point where my ERA was in the 80's yes you heard me my pitcher had a 80 ERA guess where i was drafted? the same 28 round to the Oakland A's. Then i reloaded and had a complete game, a no hitter , and a highscore in the showcase I was drafted in round 30 to you guessed it!!!! The DAMN OAKLAND A's. Now explain how that is realistic or fun in anyway. last time i checked Tim tebow did not have to enter in the draft he just got invited to a camp, so why is that not an option. if we want to do a coming of the age story why not go to the camps of like three teams that you like and get offers from those teams depending on how you play. it would literally be the same story we can still start from the bottom and have all the caps and work our way up. Soo there is no such thing as a walk on anymore really???? than really force you to be on the worst teams which is the complete opposite of how the later rounds work. high draft pick are suppose to go to the worst teams so our player who really is the GOD or GOAT player would realistically be going further down the board not the rounds, but i never drafted no later than pick 16 which is a bad team. So no Yankees, no Astros, no Dodgers, if im a fan of those teams that sucks that no matter what i do i can never get picked by my favorite team. I will not be playing this game until this is fixed and I will not being getting the show in the future and if you agree with me vote with your wallet if you dont keep being realistic

It also depends on the kind of player you make and what a certain team is looking for depending on what rosters you are using. I've always been drafted it seems by the same 3 teams. However I always make the same type of player. Always within the top 10 picks of the 21st to 23rd round.

I'm curious how everyone is doing progression wise with the "power" elements of the game. I started with a RF Defensive Canon but training barely moves up my power or arm strength attributes. It took me a full year in the game to get +1 in arm strength. Power wise I'm stuck at 67-68 and any training for power does not boost it to any level like it would for contact or fielding. Feels like these attributes grow much too slow (I'd include speed in this as well).

i build a right fielder as well, its my 3-4 try and its not looking good. tried to simulate my way to higher stats but the low progress is just to frustrating. also i always run up against hall of fame difficulty and its no fun at that point, i suck at hitting even with showtime but at the same time i dont want to cheat with the ai. i always had my meatball in mlb16

i feel like in order to be a good hitter with the lower stats u need to follow every frame with full awareness like its some kind of shooter. it takes the fun away.

i want to make easy mlb meatball hrs now, not in a few days or weeks, no grinding, i want it now ! this was a failure of a buy. maybe a ot question:

is it possible to lock a player in franchise mode and only play his at bats with meatball/showtime ?

I think where you’re from and/or region you play in are a factor in where you go. I made 4(SP, RP, 2 RFs) players all born in Georgia/East and I got drafted by the Padres or the Pirates every time. Made one born at sea(SS) and one from Illinois/Central(SP) and I went to the Braves both times. Made a CF from Alabama and went to the Pirates first, went to college, and then got drafted by the Rays.

We should make a collective log of positions, birthplace/regions(and archetypes?) and the team you’re drafted to and see if anything lines up.

I've made a CF and a 1B both from Ohio/central and drafted to the CWS, Marlins, and Phillies.

i feel like in order to be a good hitter with the lower stats u need to follow every frame with full awareness like its some kind of shooter. it takes the fun away.

i want to make easy mlb meatball hrs now, not in a few days or weeks, no grinding, i want it now ! this was a failure of a buy. maybe a ot question:

is it possible to lock a player in franchise mode and only play his at bats with meatball/showtime ?
If you want it easy, play on rookie.

Madden get rid of the extras (SS/XF, HFA, media, scenarios, game plan) or turn them down considerably.
