I actually haven't taken a single power swing in this RTTS so far (33 AB's), hitting .455 with 2 HR's. Legend difficulty in AA ball, which is actually HOF - yes, that difficulty shift appears to still be a thing.

That whole "nothing but power swings" thing I was talking about pre-release is just something I'd mess around with on the side - this is my real RTTS.
I have a Powerhouse RF and use power swings exclusively. I’m hitting ~.430 with 22 HRs in between 50-60 games in AA. My power is ~59/53 and but my contact is ~39/37. Most of my non-HR hits are seeing-eye grounders though.

Which brings me to the question, do the power/contact ratings only apply to power and contact swings or do they actually benefit your player overall? If I don’t improve my contact, will I end up a Joey Gallo(barely hitting .200 with ~40 HRs) type once I get to the bigs or will I still have a solid average?

Playing, but I discovered if you hold the left stick right after the hit, it will eye on the ball.

I don't understand this. I created a speedy CF and was drafted by the Phillies. However, the only time I see any time in CF is when a LHP is on mound. Other than that I'm a leadoff DH. Why?

Also, I hate this new baserunning camera.

My only real issue so far is that I can't seem to hit for power. I'm in the middle of May with 0 HR.

Re: Official MLB 18 : Road to the Show Thread

Yea, I really just can't with this game anymore.

              My issues:

              1. I'm a 3B for the Orioles, overall is 62 and here were my AA stats:

              - .383 avg, 10 HR's, 293 plate appearances, a 3B fielding % of .983, a .378 avg wit RISP, ISO is .200 and an POP (OBP+SLG+Batting Avg) of 1.312!

But yet, not promoted. I checked the roster of AA, AAA, and MLB.

My position at AAA the guy is rated also 62 and when I tried to check his stats, I can't because the game doesn't track Minor League stats. Woops forgot about that.

              2. So Manny Machado is rated 86 OVR and playing SS, but there's also Freddy Galvis who is rated 82 OVR whom is also playing SS, but there's a 63 rated OVR guy at 3B???????

              Why?

              3. I finally got promoted as a 63 OVR straight from AA to MLB (for some odd reason) and in my first 5 games, I went 1 for 20. That's right folks. ONE FOR TWENTY. I'm not ready for MLB level, I'm good for AAA level.

So instead of the game letting me PROGRESS as an 18 year old to AAA and up the ladder, they bumped me into the Majors which a sure fire way of giving me a serious bump in my career, if not ruining my potential...just like it would in real life. It also took them a pretty long time to promote. My stats were off the charts after 300+ plate appearances which is more than enough time to decipher a prospect.

So I'm basically a 62 OVR 3rd baseman who is playing AT 3B while there are two Shortstops playing....Machado and Galvis who BOTH can play 3B.

There are serious problems with this mode. I think I'm done guys. I gave it a serious try.

I won't even get into the issues that come up with the AI wanting you to switch positions and how it can mess up your archetype by doing this. We'll talk about that later, or others can bring it up.

is there any way to use the old camera in the field? I can's see when zoomed out so far at third base. I've been manual zooming with the right stick but it's very annoying.

Sounds like this mode is pretty much broken, unless you don't mind having almost no control over how your player develops and progresses. For my money, I liked the manual point allocation system better.

I settled on making a Closer, got Drafted by the Dodgers, not my Cubs but hey I'll go where they send me.

I think it will be better this time as before playing a Closer meant spending money to keep your stats up because of your limited pitching but now it rewards what you do so liking that.
Did not like being put into a Starter role and running on empty by 7th innings, was aiming into the center of the zone but my pitches were all over the joint LOL, thankfully I am back in my Closer role and reinforced it when I had the cut scene.

Think I might get up to AAA soon as I am doing well and am ready, not sure but it is heading to the end of my first year so that is cool.

The high velocity archetype will have notable control issues. If that is what you chose. Myself I tend to prefer movement.

Question seeing as everyone passed on it from the last page....how the bloody hell do you add pitches? Or did SDS **** the bed on this as well? Having 3 pitches is killing my starter...I mean sure 3 is fine for a CP but an SP its like asking to get your face pounded in. Hell I have simmed 2 seasons and nothing with regards to adding pitches. I mean I could see holding off till the off season(s) to add pitches but come on this is getting stupid....

RTTS-Unlocking perk limit & Max Cap

I tried to build an "Solid Option" center fielder, and his Max Cap of power is 70.
While the limit for unlocking the game-changing perk, High Altitude, is 75.

Is it possible to unlock this perk by using those power boost equipment to raise power over 75?

                        Thanks!

Assuming they follow the same guidelines for unlocks as last year you will need requisite unaltered stats. SO bump up with items will not unlock those perks.

I thought I read somewhere that in the offseason there was a chance to add pitches, not got there yet but with a Closer I am happy with the three I have but yeah a SP will need the 4th to be able to mix it up as required

Was reading it should appear when you hit MLB and do training

After playing a full night of RTTS, all I can say is this is the best RTTS! I love it SDS!! Way to go!!! You absolutely nailed it. I love the realism and the challenges it has created now. Before, RTTS was just to easy. Play a game, gets traing points, blah in the majors in 8 months. Way to lose interest fast. Now however, you gain by how you play. You screw up at the plate, you get penalized. You screw up in the field, you get penalized. Its great. It really feels good now to get that clutch hit and get rewarded for it. Steal that bag, and feel like you earned it. I (personally) love that I can not work around and pick my team. These kids that come out dont pick what team they can go to, so why should I be able to. I know its not everyone cup of tea to be the longshot. Go where they want and make themselves beasts or goats (two most overused words in sports), but I love the challenges now. The new training system is a nice bonus to be able to raise attributes and caps, making you think which is more important to work on. The view is a little to far back for my taste, but I like the new cone for outfield. Its a little more precise as far as directing go. This years has really made me like the off the field action as much as being on the field.

The camera is a little harder to get use to and I didnt like it either at first, but I found the more I play, it doesnt bother me.

I did find out that when on base or running if you hold the left stick to the right (3 oclock) it puts eyes on the ball. That helped 100%
