The trade thing, I keep the slider on 4 and it seems to work out ok there. I do have the Rockies trading a CF to the White Sox for a 1B and then trading back to the Rockies the same 1B man for the same CF. Same trade happens every 2 to 5 days. Back and forth, back and forth. Ive learned to ignore it.

So I figured out a way to get my RTTS Braves pitcher back into AAA that did not involve a demotion. No I just was not paying attention to what I was doing and I saved over his RTTS save file with another player's progress. D'Oh ... luckily this pitcher did originate in MLB 17, so I went back simmed all the games in MLB 17 up until the AA All Star break (no way I was going to replay them) and since players progress slower when you sim games, bingo he was promoted in AAA not the MLB.

My main RTTS character that I have spent the most time on is backed up on the cloud but all the others are at risk. I either need to be more careful with my RTTS saving or keep backups.

Look at "on the field" and copy it to custom. Then for commentary I just notched it up to where I can just hear it. Then when you go into a game, fine tune it where you hear them, but they don't sound louder then the other noises. Just a distant noise.

Question..... maybe some of you guys have experienced this. 1st season in the majors with my RTTS LF..... every now and then I was getting showtime opportunities on robbing HR's. Some of them produce some really cool animations. In my 2nd and now 3rd year.... I'm not getting any of these - ever. I do not have any perks equipped that would prevent it so not sure what happened. Anyone know how to trigger these?

I'm not sure if this is a coincidence or not but I have ran 4 rtts characters and simulated all the way up to my arbitration years. Every single time I told my agent when the offseaaon starts I would like to change teams and requested a trade. All 4 characters were not offered arbitration by their clubs and became free agents. It's was pretty nice to become a free agent and sign with whatever team I wanted to earlier on in my career. It has made rtts more enjoyable for me ever since they took away the pick your team option.

You did it every offseason, or you mean just the year of arbitration offseason?

Also, were these players already good MLB players (good ovr, etc.) or no?

How is that possible? If you are in arbitration years, you either get offered a contract and accept, or its arbitrated on what you make. You don't get to go to free agency.

IRL if a team does not offer you arbitration, you are released and free to sign with any team. I think I had this happen to me in '17 where after the 4th year I was not offered arbitration. I became a free agent and had a couple of 1 year offers to choose from (you are still in arbitration years though). Only happened one time out of the dozens of rtts players I had done. I'm really interested in what made it happen four separate times.

I did it for the first year i was eligible for arbitration. So I simmed all the minor league years and renewable contract years.

Player 1: SS (78 overall at the time of arbitration)
                        Player 2 CF (82)

                        Player 4 LF (84)

Yes they were. you need 3 years of MLB service to be eligible for arbitration. unless of course you are considered a "super 2"

I end up simming a lot because of time constraints and because I really like making a boatload of rtts characters for variety and to test stuff out. Although this looks like it might be a bug, it does provide an interesting workaround for people that play rtts like me, to save a couple of years of simming and get to choose a team. I'm tired of being drafted by the same 5 or 6 teams. I'll have to try this out. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Official MLB 18 : Road to the Show Thread

Update on the poorly-designed training sessions: I have started 4 RTTS characters and can confirm I have never once received an option to raise plate discipline. I've gone 3+ years on every single one of them and used different archetypes on each to rule out the possibility of getting different options depending on which one you choose. Every single one has had their discipline rating maxed out at 55 since the second month of their first seasons. At first I thought maybe this was just a bug but if it was I think SDS would've fixed it by now. This leaves me with a few possible theories as to why this happens

                                1. It IS a bug but SDS refuses to fix it because this isn't diamond dynasty mode so they don't care

                                2. SDS is committed is to catering to the casual players who only care about increase power and hitting. In all my playthroughs I had at least one of these maxed out (sometimes both) by the third season or so

                                3. SDS failed to play-test this or the play-testers didn't notice or care

I tested this earlier by using manual saves to see if each set of options on a given day are pre-determined and can confirm they are randomized. However I use the term "randomized" lightly here, since 4 out of the 9 options trained either contact or power exclusively while 2 out of the remaining 5 trained power/contact combined with another throw-away stat such as reaction or durability. I find it very sad that this problem persists this long after release. I was really excited to finally have a legit RPG-style mode in an MLB game but they completely ruined it by removing any choice from it. Instead of being able to build the player/archetype YOU want to build, the game insists on making all the choices for you
