Every single one has had their discipline rating maxed out at 55 since the second month of their first seasons. At first I thought maybe this was just a bug but if it was I think SDS would've fixed it by now. This leaves me with a few possible theories as to why this happens

    1. It IS a bug but SDS refuses to fix it because this isn't diamond dynasty mode so they don't care

    2. SDS is committed is to catering to the casual players who only care about increase power and hitting. In all my playthroughs I had at least one of these maxed out (sometimes both) by the third season or so

    3. SDS failed to play-test this or the play-testers didn't notice or care

I tested this earlier by using manual saves to see if each set of options on a given day are pre-determined and can confirm they are randomized. However I use the term "randomized" lightly here, since 4 out of the 9 options trained either contact or power exclusively while 2 out of the remaining 5 trained power/contact combined with another throw-away stat such as reaction or durability. I find it very sad that this problem persists this long after release. I was really excited to finally have a legit RPG-style mode in an MLB game but they completely ruined it by removing any choice from it. Instead of being able to build the player/archetype YOU want to build, the game insists on making all the choices for you
This is concerning as I too have a player who's plate discipline is stuck on the current CAP. Now this guy was started in MLB 17 and ported over to MLB 18. But I also created a new player in MLB 18 just to make sure I did not miss anything with his training sessions as I have a much better idea now what to look out for. He has not hit the current CAP yet, but for sure there has not been a single option to increase the CAP in any of the training sessions.

As far as SDS and any bug fixes. I figure one of two things are in play with them.

    1) They are working on a series of bugs that they want to release all at once.

    2) They really don't care because RTTS isn't DD.

Plate discipline has been my highest YTD gain on my year 2 RF (around 67-68 I think) so I’m def not seeing this problem at all

I'm maxed out....so neither am I. Was a regular option in most of my off day training in between series.

I'm not sure that the new patch impacted anything in RTTS.... but if any of you guys see any changes post patch hopefully will share the information here. Stuck at work so I won't be playing until this afternoon.

With the exception of possibly the fielding change, it does not sound like there were any RTTS changes.

On one hand I am really engaged with RTTS this year (it is my first year playing the mode) and I actually like the new progression system. But as fun as some of the game play has been, there are clearly many issues with RTTS that just make little to no sense. Add the lack of communication SDS has towards the mode since release day, and I am not holding out much hope that many of these weird issues will be addressed this year. My only savings grace is that since I play at a much slower pace than most, I am holding out hope that by the time I get to the same place many of you are with the game, many of these issues will already have been addressed. In other words, I am playing the long game here, in with a multi real world year commitment.

What would be a good pitching repertoire for a Plain Filthy pitcher(i think thats the 99 break one right?)

Was thinking 2seam, slider, circle change, 12/6 curve? What would you guys do?

Have anyone been drafted by the Nationals or Mariners? If so what position do you play?

                    Cheers

I also have not seen this issue. Wonder if it might be more position or archetype specific.

The one I haven't seen that often is arm strength. Near the end of season 2 and still haven't raised it. I have seen it available a couple of times, but not often, but wanted to raise something else.

Game’s just not fun anymore, for me. Stuck on the Pirates, still locked in that stupid rookie contract/free agency BS clause. The pitching is hot garbage. I’m the only offensive/defensive star. I’m honestly thinking about putting down The Show for a while, something I haven’t felt like doing in a month.

There’s also a few minor flaws in actual gameplay; I had no errors going into June and I got sucked into a warped animation, had the ball bounce off my groin and into LF. But that’s not why I’m taking a break.

Damn those Pirates. Damn that front office. And damn Wade Leblanc. He lost us 5 games in a row. Dude is garbage.

Hard to say if this was part of the 1.0.8 patch, but I was able to successfully field a couple of soft liners today in my game at 2B, plays I don't recall making in any of the previous games this year. Of course these liners were plays you would expect a 2B to make and thankfully I did make them.

Edited: there is something I am seeing in RTTS games that I don't see in Franchise games and that is the wrong defensive alignments. Example: in my RTTS game this evening the game is tied 2-2 in the bottom of the 9th, my team is up to bat and we have base runners on 2nd and 3rd with one away. You would think the opposition manager would call for the infield to come in right? That didn't happen, the infield was playing back and one of the guys on my team hits the ball to the 2B who then throws the batter out at 1B. But the guy on 3B came in to score the game winner. For people who don't play full broadcast RTTS games where everyone bats, I guess you don't see these sorts of things. But they are happening, and it's not just the opposition. I have seen times when my own team should be playing the infield in but they aren't. They are playing back. You never see this sort of thing in Franchise game play. Franchise game play does a good job of making sure the CPU defenders play defenses that make sense for the situation. You would think that this would all be common code, but I guess it's not and since most RTTS gamers don't play full games, the SDS DEVs got lazy with their coding and testing.

I still love this game, but man does it have some warts.

I'm loving it. In 2020 season. I imported a player in from 2017 and struggled with the braves in 2017 and 2018. Had to try to carry the team as much as possible while Swanson, Albeis, and Acuna developed. Freddie Freeman is an absolute beast. Team made some good pitching moves and added a bat (Miguel Sano) at the break in 2019. Went to and won the World Series in 2019 (beat the Indians) and are currently in a battle with the Nationals in the 2020 season getting close to the All Star Break. I can't stress enough about using the manual save feature to help your team and yourself by controlling the trades, getting the best possible outcome just before the trade deadline, and getting the best possible outcome in the offseason. Acuna, Albeis, and Swanson are all right at a 90 overall and it's been awesome to play with them through the whole thing so far and watch develop. I had to stop thinking about winning the first couple of seasons and just concentrate on player development and best possible outcome to batting/fielding. Hopefully it gets better for you.

On a side note.... probably just the placebo affect of post patch... but I struggled at the plate last night. Something seemed different. Couldn't get around on the dominating fastballs and was having trouble getting solid contact. Part of the problem is I'm not seeing alot of pitches. Between Intentional walks and regular walks I'll have over 50 walks going into the all star break. Freeman and Sano love hitting behind me and Freddie stays in the top 7 in RBI's.

How about Mike Soroka and his MLB debut last night for the Braves. For those of us who think a 20 year old making their MLB debut in our RTTS games is a tad unrealistic (myself included), here we have a 20 year old in the real world who made it to the Show. A kid from Calgary, former goalie is now an MLB starting pitcher. Most of our RTTS players are unrealistic success stories, but Mike Soroka is proof that it can happen.

                                Play Ball!!!
