Man.... what a season. Maybe the most fun I've had in a RTTS season in years. Won it all in 2021...Went 115-47. I can't even count the number of clutch hits and memorable moments that happened. Albeis, Swanson, Acuna, Freeman.... unbelievable. The game is outstanding when you figure out how to control your saves and manage your team. Thought we would skate through the playoffs.... and went down 2-0 in the NLDS. Charged back and went on a tear to win it all. Played the Red Sox in the World Series....

When fielding out of OF, I only get "Arm Accuracy" if I throw the ball to the Cut-off. Seems that when fielding I have 2 choices,
      1. Throw to the Cut-Off everytime and gather points to improve myself; (Selfish)
      2. When I have a chance, throw to 3rd or Home and go "all-in" for the Out. As in real life, the runner always have a decent chance of being safe and I get no points to show for my attempt at helping the team. (Team player)

I played AA and AAA in "Selfish" mode, trying to improve my fielding skills as much as possible. Now being recalled to lead the Jays in CF, I was wondering how do you guys play it? I'm trying to go as a "Team player" but still wondering which is best for my team as a long term plan.

You go for the Out or go for the points?

Routine fly balls will generate plenty of opportunities to generate points for arm accuracy and fielding. When someone runs on you or you have a shot at a play.... gotta make the play. Teams must fear the arm!

Re: Official MLB 18 : Road to the Show Thread

I have a RTTS character presently playing on the Giants AA team who started off as a SS but was sent to LF during the 1st mandatory position swap and I can't wait to be sent back to the middle infield. Sure catching routine fly balls is an easy way to get Fielding and Reaction gains. But we don't get anything for fielding ground balls, not even throwing accuracy gains and in the vast majority of the cases it seems that throwing to the cutoff man makes sense though there has been a few times where I threw to 2B. Of course my guy does not have the arm to throw to home, plus I don't even think I have even been on the scenario where he fielded a shallow fly where throwing to home would even make sense. Now I am not upset that he is playing in the OF as at least now I can say I know what playing in the OF is like. But I prefer the middle infield and this Giants RTTS character was only created as a backup in case the game decides to mess me over with my so called main RTTS guy who is still only in early August of his first season at 2B with the Braves AAA squad. I am however having fun with my two pitchers, one a starter in his 2nd year with the Padres and the other in his first year recently called up to the Braves MLB squad. Of course I am pitching on egg shells with this Braves SP as twice now the Braves manager has told me the organization wants to turn me into a late reliever. I managed to find the proper responses to defer this potential permanent position swap from happening and my last start (only made three so far) was good enough to appear to be scheduled for a 4th start. But it appears that there is no margin for error. Pitching is stressful enough. I don't need this uncertainty SDS appears to want to force me into. RTTS is a game, it's not the real world.

How many times can we change our archetypes?

I started as a speed CF and was asked to move to RF and changed to a defensive cannon. My speed and power stats are at 90s now and I was wondering if it's possible to go back to CF as a Mr. Reliable and get contact up to the 90s.

Speed is the only attribute that (or one of a few) that don’t decrease on the field. So you got the nice speed bonus that you won’t lose, not sure if you can switch again but even if you were to go back and change again, you CAN lose power (which you would) so it would be pointless. You got the best workaround already

Interesting, I thought that power was one of those few that don't decrease as long as you don't whiff on power swings. I know velocity for pitchers don't decrease. I had a rockstar closer and got him to 99 velocity on a few pitches and turned him into a plain filthy starter and he didn't lose any velocity.

Heading in June 2020, and I'm having an okay season so far on my Braves RF, hitting .272/.352/.467 w/9 HRs and 25 RBIs. Our reigning MVP Manny Machado on pace an even better MVP season possibly then his last, hitting .375/.436/.720 w/ 23 HRs and 66 RBIs, leading the Majors in all except OBP. His stats have increased tremendously, having as high as 94 PvR/91 CvL sitting at 99 ovr. We sit on top of the NL east comfortably.

I'm really loving seeing the Harper+Arenado combo I got together in Baltimore workout. They are 1 game back of the Yankees at 37-23.

                  '

Also, I think my pitchers are using foreign substances. The best pitching I've ever had on an RTTS team

Has anyone else had a ton of leads blown? I was up 9-2 going into the 8th and San Diego, of all teams, hangs 10 on me in two innings. It feels like this happens way too frequently, regardless of who’s pitching. I even adjusted the consistency and control pitching slider for humans.

I haven't seen it alot.... when I have I've usually been on teams with pretty poor bullpens.... 78 or lower. Seen it happen quite a bit when I haven't had good closer too. With the Braves save that I'm in 2022 season in I have not seen it much, or at least so much that I would consider it unusual or abnormal. Got a friend that plays quite a bit that complains about it happening with his team. He's in like 2023 or 2024 with the Indians.

Were you playing the game or was this a simmed result? I don't trust simming very much. However while it's never happened to me while I was pitching, I was involved in a game early on in my RTTS 2B AA career where my team stormed out to a 8-0 top of the 1st inning lead, only to give up 10 runs ourselves in the bottom of the 1st. It was nuts. I have also seem the opposition comeback on me and have seen my team comeback ourselves. But that's baseball. It's a crazy sport sometimes, also a sport you should never give up on in a game no matter how bad things look. Oh and yes I too have seen sketchy bullpens in many RTTS games. But it's usually from the same cast of characters. Overtime you learn who is good and who isn't so good on your team(s). But as mention at the beginning. I do not trust simmed results. They seem far too bizarre and far too random at times. Of course when time is tight, you have to sim. Catch-22.

I’m with the Twins and they’ve amassed a pretty good bullpen. Lowest RP is a 78 but he hardly gets any action. Is there a slider that can fix this?

Won 2019 rookie of the year as the Pirates RF. Start off 2020 on the bench :/ Polanco has a better overall than me but we lost Marte and my ratings are better than the other outfielders so this is frustrating

Info probably doesn't apply to your particular problem.... but what is your closer rated out at? Also.... what is your 2 setup men (LHP, RHP) graded out at. I've started analyzing the box scores after each game, win or lose. On some of the games where we lost in the late innings I noticed it was in situations where my right handed pitcher was setting up for the closer. It's Steve Cishek and he's well up in the years and ratings have dipped way down. I also noticed that on the occasions where the closer would blow the save he was facing hitters that hit his hand well. Not always the case....as sometimes they just blow it.... but most of the time some of the comebacks/blown saves followed some baseball logic at least. I've also seen situations where I have 1 or 2 particular LRP and MRP's that seem to be the culprit every single time. To the point of me checking who was being brought in during middle innings. I've been fortunate with this though as I'm in 2022 season with Braves and pitching has always been above average or better in majority of seasons. I can tell ya this... when I've got to the end of seasons and simmed my upgrades and new player additions I've also made sure I had quality pitching. It wins out more than having a lineup chalked full of hitters.

going through a Shortstop RTTS and using the trade filter idea and is very enjoyable however im only using it if the trades dont make sense. I was just traded for adam wainright straight up to the cards from Toronto but im a 60 rated AA player and he is older but around a 78 on my roster so viewed that as realistic. viewed it as a smoltz-doyle alexander type trade except that im not a sp.
