I used to have a ton of fun with my dad in the WS sega gen series. I’d like to do it again but the whole RP thing puts me off bigtime. For those of you who do a draft and play what is your workaround?Comment

Re: Official MLB The Show 18 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread
1 - 30 team control (which I don’t have the time / patience for)
2 - suck it up and wait it out until the second year of the franchise. Also, as the season progresses, it usually corrects itself somewhat due to injuries / trades.
Definitely the most irritating thing about the game imo, but nothing can keep my from my franchise.MLB The Show 20

I do 30 team control when I do a fantasy draft. It’s great as you can make all the teams relatively even and have different strengths on teams/build teams suited to their parks.Comment

Re: Official MLB The Show 18 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread
First Series
The Mets took 2 out of 3 against Mike Trout's Cardinals. An 8-0 and 9-1 victory were separated by a 4-1 loss. The Cards are looking like they may be in trouble this year, as the pitching staff is young and inexperienced, and Trout doesn't have much in the sense of a supporting cast.
Next Up
The Mets (2-1) finish up the home-stand by hosting the Phillies (1-2) for 3 games.
Matchups
Josh Tomlin (R) (0-0) vs Jordan Zimmerman (R) (0-0)
Zack Godley (R) (0-0) vs Martin Perez (L) (0-0)
Jon Lester (L) (1-0 0.00) vs Stephen Strausburg (R) (0-0 4.50)
Phillies Lineup
CF Austin Jackson (R)
2B Starlin Castro (R)
LF David Peralta (L)
1B Hanley Ramirez (R)
RF Nicholas Castellanos (R)
3B Rafael Devers (L)
C Kevan Smith (R)
SS Amed Rosario (R)
Phillies Bench
C Chris Gimenez (R)
1B Colby Delgado (R) *Rookie*
SS Nolan Fontana (L)
Keys To The Series
The Mets bullpen figures to be the key to the series, as Tomlin and Godley are slated to start the first two games of the series, before the key matchup of Lester vs Strausburg. This should be a tough task, as the Phils boast a fairly balanced lineup. The young third baseman Rafael Devers figures to be a player to watch, as he's batting .333 with a hr and 2 rbi on the season.
Notes: Josh Donaldson looks to have left spring training on a tear, as he is currently batting .385 with 2 hr and 4 rbi. The rookie short stop and hometown kid, Frankie Little is batting .429 over two games, with 3 stolen bases.MLB The Show 20

Re: Official MLB The Show 18 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread
I'm really enjoying the re-draft this year. There's a lot less predictability in the draft (granted, you still get things like the round 9 run on RP's), but I've seen some pretty different drafts. In the past, I was able to pin point exactly how far down the draft I could be and still get PLAYER X to essentially get the "perfect draft". This year, playing around with how the computer drafts, I've seen Harper slide to the 11th pick or be picked in the top-2, I recently snagged Altuve in the 8 spot, and I've seen Mookie Betts hang around until the top of the 2nd round. The later rounds are a little less volatile, but I can see some different results this year and I enjoy that.
I also really enjoy that the CPU seems to prioritize the younger players, too. In the past, I could walk away with a top-10 prospects list that would have looked eerily similar to the Baseball America's top-10 MLB prospects, for just one team. I'd be able to trade a handful of young prospects for a stud RP/C/SS or whatever that I neglected in the draft. Can't do that any more.Last edited by 1908_Cubs; 03-25-2018, 01:25 PM.Comment

Re: Official MLB The Show 18 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread
Hopefully this counts. Just finished doing 35 rounds of manual drafting in my 30 team control franchise. A lot of the teams have a certain theme, either by nationality, state, or US region. Plus kept some teams similar with most of their star players, so the league isn't completely unknown.
I plan on mostly controlling the Texas/DR team. This is what the team looks like, and the top half of the league.
Lineup
CF Starling Marte
SS Jean Segura
