Don’t know why this just dawned on me...but what a year to do a fantasy draft franchise. You can really take advantage of the free agent market at seasons end. I’ve already got a decision looming in if I should let Donaldson walk and go after Machado, or maybe go for Kershaw. Will be fun

Thank you, and playing through my first game as we speak the outfield D is already helping a lot with pillar and hicks in center and right that gap is almost non-existent lol. Definitely don’t have any prospects though.. gunna really try my best to stay on the scouting in this franchise and hope to build my farm system through that.

I hear you. I think I have two B rated prospects (both low sixties) and a couple of c/d 70’s which I think might play well in the majors in a year or two. Scouting is gonna be key for sure. Loving this game though

Went and did an Indians Re-Draft. Love the team. That was with the 10th pick in the draft. Was surprised to see Harper slide there and decided to see what I could make of it. Love the outcome. Zero trades were made. Also have Bo Bichette in the system. Rotation is weak-ish, but there's room to grow.

Going to do a draft when i get the game tuesday. Plan on possibly going with Rockies or Nats (just to use the Expos jerseys). But i plan on having Ruth, Griffey and Vlad as my outfield. I know ill have to force trade it to make it happen but that trio just seems like way to much fun to not play with. Might use Colorado just to see the bombs theyd hit

Re: Official MLB The Show 18 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread

My favourite time of year has made its way around again, time for more fantasy draft fun. This is by far my most played game mode in The Show. While waiting for the OSFM rosters I decided to go ahead and do a fun Legends draft in the mean time and wanted to post my results for you guys.

So im using live rosters, legends included, and edited so there are no CP in the rosters (turns the rnd 9 RP round into everyone drafts their CP round).

I had the 11th overall pick in the 1st round and to my surprise the Babe was still up so I had to take him. 2nd and 3rd rounds I picked up C Gary Sanchez and RF Mookie Betts, 3rd and 4th round I picked up SS Trea Turner and SP Lance McCullers.

Anyways, here's a look at my starting lineups, I wanted to go for young talent as a priority, but also wanted to win now, so I have filled out a lot of my roster with solid vets among the great talent i scored early.

                    Rotation
                    Ron Guidry 90 OVR 27 A pot
                    Lance McCullers 87 OVR 24 B pot
                    Yu Darvish 86 OVR 31 B
                    Masahiro Tanaka 87 OVR 29 B
                    Felix Hernandez 83 OVR 31 B

                    Bullpen
                    LRP Geronimo Mortero 76 OVR 22 C
                    MRP Pedro Baez 80 OVR 30 C
                    MRP Blake Treinen 77 OVR 29 C

                    SU Will Smith 82 OVR 28 C
                    SU Hector Neris 84 OVR 28 C
                    CP Brad Hand 90 OVR 28 C

                    Lineup
                    SS Trea Turner 89 OVR 24 B
                    RF Mookie Betts 89 OVR 25 A
                    LF Babe Ruth 99 OVR 26 A
                    C Gary Sanchez 93 OVR 25 B
                    DH Jose Abreu 87 OVR 31 B
                    1B Justin Smoak 84 OVR 31 B
                    3B Eugenio Suarez 88 OVR 26 C
                    2B Ketel Marte 79 OVR 24 C
                    CF Dee Gordon 86 OVR 29 B

                    Bench
                    C Christian Vasquez 73 OVR 27 B
                    SS Joaquin Maldonado 72 OVR 24 C
                    CF Odubel Herrera 76 OVR 26 C
                    LF Jose Pirela 80 OVR 28 C

The overalls here are with the Morale inclusions, I have already changed my staff to have Top Teir. This is one of the best drafts I've ever had, really pleased with the results and looking forward to playing around with this team.

P.S. This is with no trades at all.

Re: Official MLB The Show 18 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread

So I found a roster with full prospect names to use for now, seemed well enough. Did a fantasy draft with Colorado. CPU Logic definitely targets the high potential prospects earlier than in the past for sure. Just a few rounds in and all of the top prospects were getting scooped up quickly. Was able to nab a few, but also have just a terrible team while trying to figure it all out.

That said, at the end of year one, I had about $87M in player salaries on the books, but it said I was maxed out on budget and couldn't afford any of the free agents. I mean I had 1 player (Syndergaard $13.5M) making more than $8M that season. Harper, Machado, Sale, Bumgarner, Blackmon, Dozier all out there, heck I couldn't even offer AJ Pollock a deal at less than $4M per season.

I don't remember Colorado having such a small payroll, and there were other teams maxed out at the end of year one as well. Is there somewhere to see the budgets for each team in the menus? I had no idea what my max player salary budget was. I've had to get creative with trades and platoons to build a roster, used the Rule 5 draft to grab some nice high potential roster fillers for my offense (Tyler Austin, Colin Moran, Brandon Nimmo) as opposed to free agency.

Yup haha. It'll be difficult. I tried to create some budget in there to allow it to happen. Khris Davis is a FA at seasons end and will be able to free up some cash. I'll have a few other guys I can maybe shop and I have about $10m in budget to play around with right now.

That said, I've got at least one interesting OF prospect in Heath Quinn (67 OV, B potential) I could maybe use in a year or two, and maybe I'll draft a good player who's going to be ready soon-ish (I've had some good draft luck in a Pirates franchise where I was able to get a few guys who were in the low 70's already with good potential and a bat that was nearly MLB ready off the bat).

Quick update. The Mets are rolling along, 6-1 on the season so far. Some huge blowouts, and 2 comebacks (8th inning or later). Surprisingly my go to clutch guy has been jay Bruce...not the guy other teams want to see at the plate with a close game. Additionally, Freddie Little is continuing to impress with his steady defense and ability to swipe bags. Do the Mets have their short stop of the future and possible NL Rookie of the year? Possibly, only time will tell.
