Re: MLB The Show 18 First Impressions
I dropped the pitch speed sliders down two notches after 1.05 dropped and it is looking really good if you're finding your timing to be jacked from where it had been previously.Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 18 First Impressions
I do. Hitting feels different to me. Unfortunately it feels more like last year then it did out of the box. Not a good direction imo. You seeing the same?

I really can't put my finger on it, but when I played the game out of the box pre-patch default Legend felt like default HoF from '16 which I played all of last year. After the patch, Legend became difficult and moving back to default HoF it plays like it did in '16.
I'm very content with default HoF again. I just lost the BoSox 3-1 and the game felt and played great.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: MLB The Show 18 First Impressions
Love baseball and love the show ,but in comparison to the depth of other sports title mode wise and customization..this rendition of the show is stuck in a rut since roughly 2015.
Graphics are outstanding menus, color scheme player models etc..A+++...animations are plenty ,but to actually witness the glory on a consistent basis... still best served when set to "auto". Definitely recommend a solid slider set such as "Mike Lowe Sliders" to correlate with attributes. Out the box game play not nearly as authentic as NBA2k.
This year 2018 is only for the noobs or those who are content...such as myself...However, for 60 bucks plus I need my Online franchise, Season mode smooth servers and an upgrade in the depth and customization department to purchase...
Who I am kidding I'm loyal to the show and will still purchase next year...I'm just hoping my loyalty is not misplaced and SDS exceeds all of our expectations.Comment

MLB The Show 18 First Impressions
I’m seeing those celebrations in real life, in the bottom of first Céspedes hit a single with no one on and did hand gesture to Mets bench. So the Show has it right, my suggestion just enjoy it! Gameplay is awesome!

Re: MLB The Show 18 First Impressions
Did anyone else's user profile reset?
All my settings reset to default. I had to pick Experienced, favorite team, and set up all my options again. Not a big deal as my franchise save is fine, just caught me off guard and worried me slightly that I lost my save file.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: MLB The Show 18 First Impressions
I'm mixed on this iteration.
Gameplay is great this year. Hitting feels better this year and so does pitching. There's still some fielding hiccups but the outfield actually feels like an outfield. It's not having to find the perfect mix of fielder speed/reaction/arm/errors and runner speed to get those in-between hits to play out like they would depending on the outfielder (eg: no Yasmany Tomas-esque OFers robbing homers or extra bases in the alleys).
My issues lie with the franchise and RTTS. There's little new innovation in Franchise and it feels kinda like you traded your 2016 Honda Civic in for the 2018 model. It's decent but really just a newer, shinier version.
I liked RTTS before this version. With how we're forced into building a certain way with the archetypes and there's no deviation, no chance for growth. If you pick a flame-thrower, you'll never be able to harness that or be able to have that wicked out-pitch. If you're a defensive maestro, it'll be fun fighting the Mendoza line (unless you replay a game to boost your stats to get to the meager hitting caps). Before, I could have started off like Randy Johnson with huge velocities and breaks but zero control. He was wild those first five years at the MLB level (to the tune of about 6.0 BB/9 to just shy of 9.0 K/9). He eventually developed his control and more than halved his walk rate. The same could be said with a fielder. I could start with a player who was a plus defender but weak hitter (or vice versa) and make the adjustments to not be a liability in the field or an easier out at the plate.
Overall, it's a good game. I just feel like some of the things that made this game unique (like Y2Y saves for personal careers) have been taken away without actually being removed (sorry online franchise and season players who actually lost their mode/s).Comment

Re: MLB The Show 18 First Impressions
I wasn’t criticising, I was simply saying that while we all want the game to be perfect it won’t ever be and enjoy what’s here that’s good about it rather than allowing what isn’t to spoil it. There’s a football game that I desperately want to be something that it isn’t and never will be. I can either let that annoy me to death or just enjoy what we have. Given I grew up playing games that were a million miles from what we have today I don’t intend to let my ambition for the game spoil what we have which is far better than when I started gaming. So again, not criticising but a gentle suggestion to enjoy the game for what it is than what it isn’t; or just trade it in and move on.

Have you gone to practice to work on it? Did you read BCruise’s tips?
