Re: MLB 18 The Show Trade Discussion

Looking for a fair value assessment of a Javier Baez acquisition by LAD.

I can't stand Forsythe or Utley and love Baez. I know CHI is going to want to keep Baez IRL, so I'm mostly looking to know what I'd need to give up in terms of prospects or vets to make the swap fair from a value perspective.

Nobody on the roster is untouchable, save Kershaw, for the purposes of this discussion. I'd prefer to trade them guys that fit areas of need for their team and farm system, but I don't know either as well as folks in this thread.

As the San Deigo Padres I'm looking to unload Eric Hosmer (I know IRL he just signed a new 8 year deal) because I just can't hit with him and honestly I'm just more interested in building with the guys behind him. So I'm looking at teams that could use a 1B and the Yankees come to mind. Would Hosmer for Tyler Austin, Miguel Andujar and Billy McKinney work?

The Padres have tons of prospects at pretty much every position waiting in the wings so I'm not necessarily looking for someone who can come in an contribute now but players who could be flipped as future trade chips during the offseason so make other improvements. So any other trade suggestions involving Hosmer are welcomed.

There's really no surplus value for Hosmer. Now if you wanted to take back Jacoby Ellsbury you could probably actually get something of value in return

Re: MLB 18 The Show Trade Discussion

Looking to make some trades on the deadline here in my 30-team control Padres chise. Looking for some feedback on some possible league wide trades scenarios based on needs and sellers/buyers.

AL Division Leaders: Orioles 65-43, Indians 63-41, Astros 67-40
          AL WC: Rays 58-48, Red Sox 58-50, Blue Jays 56-48, Yankees 54-54, A's 53-54

NL Division Leaders: Nationals 66-40, Brewers 63-45, Rockies 59-45
          NL WC: Cubs 59-47, Giants 57-50, Dodgers 55-51, Reds 54-52, DBacks 54-53, Mets 53-52, Cardinals 51-54

          Contender Needs:
          Brewers - RP
          Nats- Bullpen Arms, Bench upgrade
          Rockies - Lefty RP
          Dodgers - Bench Depth Upgrade
Orioles - C, RF, SP, RP
          Indians - RP, OF
Astros - Second Lefty Reliever, only have Boshers in pen at the moment
          Cubs - RP, Bench upgrade
Reds - I don't see them hanging in contention for much longer so I am hesitant to make a move but they would need SP, RP
          Mets- Lefty Reliever
Blue Jays - RP, Lefty Reliever
Cardinals - RP, Bench upgrade (Could be Donaldson trade spot but Toronto is still in contention, so iffy on that)
          Rays - OF, 1B, RP
          Yankees - RP, 1B

          Possible Trade options

          KC RP Kelvin Herrera
SEA OF Nelson Cruz .312 AVG, 25 HR, 64 RBI
          MIA RP Brad Ziegler 1-4, 3.13 ERA, 24Ks, 46IP
PHI RP Pat Neshek 1-1, 1.95 ERA, 25Ks, 27 IP
SD RP Craig Stammen 4-2, 2.03 ERA, 41Ks, 62 IP
CWS RP Xavier Cedeno 1-2, 1.79 ERA, 42Ks, 45 IP
          CWS RP Luis Avilan 2-2, 3.00 ERA, 29Ks, 27IP
KC RP Justin Grimm 1-3, 2.70 ERA, 35Ks, 33 IP
SEA SP Erasmo Ramirez 6-5, 3.67 ERA, 64Ks, 117 IP
ATL SP Julio Teheran 9-4, 3.32 ERA, 108Ks, 133 IP
CWS RP Nate Jones 4-4, 5.71 ERA, 35Ks, 34 IP
ATL OF Nick Markakis .290 AVG, 5 HR, 39 RBI
ATL C Tyler Flowers .259 AVG, 11 HR, 27 RBI
MIA IF Martin Prado .293 AG, 6 HR, 35 RBI
MIA OF Cameron Maybin .275 AVG, 9 HR, 32 RBI
PHI 2B Cesar Hernandez .313 AVG, 6 HR, 28 RBI
CIN 1B Joey Votto .306 AVG, 25 HR, 67 RBI
PIT OF Corey Dickerson .258 AVG, 15 HR, 45 RBI
PIT 2B Josh Harrison .246 AVG, 7 HR, 41 RBI

There are some good RP options under long term control so I am hesitant to moving them in trades as I don't feel the teams would likely move them.

          Completed Deals
Brand Hand to NYY for Miguel Andujar and Justus Sheffield
Wil Myers to CLE for Triston McKenzie

CPU CPU trade I might reverse but wanted some feedback

Hard to see the A's making that move with Chapman cheap and controllable long term with 5 years of control and Oakland having Mateo and Barreto as minor league SS possible talent, not sure if mateo sticks at SS or OF though.

Ended up making some moves for trade deadline in my 30 team control franchise, looking for some feedback on these trades. Tried to make trades as fair value as possible based on approved trades on the log and general baseball knowledge. (I have a pre-deadline save just as backup, in case i need to edit trades)

That Brad Hand for Andujar and Sheffield is terrible. No way NY does that.

Approved on the log. A dominant Reliever under multiple years of control per extension at only age 28 still in his athletic prime, for salaries of 3.5, 6.5 and 7 Million. At peak of deal, he will only make 7 million which would rank 30th among relievers for 2018 salaries among all RPs. By 2020, a 7 million dollar salary could be significant further down the list among highest paid RPs. And not to mention, the Yankees are expected to make a run at Machado which would leave no spot for Andujar. To get a premium arm on a heavily team friendly deal, you will have to pay top dollar as evident with the Ken Giles trade. The Phillies received at the time the Astros #2 and #4 prospects in SPs Mark Appel and Vincent Velasquez. They also received a top 15 prospect in Thomas Eshelman, and three years later he still maintains that status, and a major league arm in Brett Oberholtzer for 4 years of control for Giles. I think the evaluation of Hand for Andujar and Sheffield is more than fair. Not to mention that Hand is a lefty which carries a little more value, so in logic the return for Hand should be right on par with the Giles trade if not more.

Re: MLB 18 The Show Trade Discussion

What kind of values do Tony Kemp and Hunter Dozier have? I am looking for guys who are older like (25-27) have high potential but low overall. Guys who were good prospects but never made it yet or they are blocked by guys in the mlb already.

Tony Kemp is obviously block in the infield by bregman, Correa, Altuve. He doesn’t really have a spot on the mlb team and is currently in the AAA in real life. His value shouldn’t be too high, should it?

Hunter Dozier is a guy I always liked but he hasn’t done much yet and he is already 26 years old. I’m guessing he probably still has good value though?

I assume that guys like these are hard to value since they are still under control for a while and don’t have much big league experience. So I apologize for the inconvenience

                      Thanks

HOU trades Jake Marisnick to KC for Jorge Solar
MIA trades Justin Bour to NYY for Luis Medina

What team are you using? If I had to guess the value of kemp it would be a team's 25-30 prospect, or a lower end lotto ticket as Houston has no space for him at the MLB level. Dozier I would think might be a little bit higher, maybe a 20-30 prospect or a middle tier lotto ticket.

I’m the Angels. (sorry, I should have added that to the original post!)

For Kemp, would Joe Gatto SP, 59 OVR, 79 POT work? He is the ranked 28th in LAA farm.

For Dozier, Brennon Lund LF, 56 OVR, 78 POT (ranked 21th in farm) and a pitching lotto ticket should work I think?

Was wondering what kind of value if any Hernan perez has? contemplating making a move for him in the offseason for another guy with positional diversity in my Jays chise. He is blocked in the infield and outfield their and has been in the minors all year for them.
