And Goldy is an MVP caliber on an underpaid deal. I feel confident most of the long time posters on this thread would tell you I have a good understanding of farm systems

Goldschmidt has a surplus of 77 million and Corbin has 6 million of surplus which gives you a total of 83 million.

Yankees give Bird,Sheffield,Adams, Abreu and Walker
Bird has 20 million
Sheffield has 32 million
Adams has 15 million
Abreu has 19 million
Walker is a throw in and that still totals 86 million.

Yankees have depth in their system and as do I have in depth knowledge of farm systems.

I am not here to argue but am here to help people and give them options like I have been doing since the start of the year

Goldy is a 5+ WAR player. He makes $11 million in 2018 and $14.5 million in 2019. So for 2 seasons of him that's $9 (value of a win) x 5 (lowballing his WAR) x 2 (seasons left) = $90 million. Then subtract his contract and you get roughly $65 million in value. Gleybar is a 60fv prospect which has a value of $60 million. So the values match up and it would take at league Gleybar to get the face of the Dbacks away from the team in addition to Corbin

Bird doesn't have much value till he shows he can ever be healthy. Adams is a reliever. Sheffield is good but you're trying a quantity approach which doesn't work that often with elite players in return.

The Yankees literally got Torres for 3 months of Chapman. That they think they don't have to give up an elite prospect like Gleybar or Miguel Andujar for Goldschmidt is just frankly Yankees bias and nonsense

Torres was in fact a top 30 prospect at the time but that's okay. And painting all Yankees fans with a broad brush wasn't necessary. Thats my bad.

However just because 4 or 5 pieces equal the value needed, that doesn't mean it works. Would you trade Gary Sanchez for 5 prospects but not the other teams top 2 or 3 prospects? That's basically what you're asking. You want the Diamondback to trade away arguably the best 1B in baseball for prospects you don't mind losing and an injury prone 1B. You have to give elite value to get elite talent back

It depended on the need of the system and Sanchez has 190 million of surplus which means I highly doubt you could get enough value out of one system to reach that value. I understand what you are saying. The D backs system is kind of weak and giving them 3 top 100 (which 2 are knocking on the MLB door) and 1 prev top 100 is a big upgrade in a teams system. Its not like the players they would be getting are slouches. I do not mind a good debate to get two peoples opinion because I think it is good for the thread so people can get several peoples opinion but sometimes people have to agree to disagree sometimes which is okay because if you told me I could have a top 50 and two top 75 players and a replacement for a player I was trading that doesnt sound to bad to me no matter what team it involves. The biggest issue is not all systems are deep enough to pull that off without giving up the #1 prospect IMO

And yes I realize Sanchez has a lot of surplus it was simply an example. If the Blue Jays were to acquire Goldschmidt who would you say they need to trade the Diamondbacks to get him.

After Alford their system drops off so it would have to be Bichette and Pearson and I use the spreadsheet for my values which says 3 TOP 100 prospects
