Want to bring Jake Marisnick do my SF team. In year two and he’s not getting many ABs in Houston. Any ideas?

I'm getting he is worth nearly $40 million. So he is worth a pretty solid top prospect.

        Hey guys.

I'm still very early in my franchise with my team : NYY (after rolling 5 seasons with ATL). We're 15-10, 2nd in the division.

I'm playing 30 teams control, OSFM 1.3 with real contracts. I can't hit with Didi Gregorius (don't know why!) and he's on his last year (with 1 ARB left). He's batting .176 with 1HR 8 RBI.

What could be some potential deals for him? I'm still unsure if I'll chase Machado with the realistic trade seen here. I'd like to keep it realistic, so I will trade him (if I'm trading him at all) during the deadline... so pretty hard to say who looks to be in a playoffs run.

I might keep him and resign him 1 year for his last ARB.

I'd stick it out if I were you. Not the best idea to sell low on a guy!

For Manny Machado, I know the O's were said to be looking for a couple of controllable arms when they were fielding offers this off-season. With that said, would Manny Machado for Steven Matz and Robert Gsellman work? Thanks!

A year or two ago probably yeah but the outlook for Matz since really getting into the bigs has not been great. Simply put he's just not seen with the same potential as he was.

Now I'll be honest here I'm I think the only one here who doesn't really work off the surplus value a whole lot. I prefer to use simple baseball knowledge and comparable past trades, along with my rather vast knowledge of pretty much every MLB player and a lot of the MiLB players.

Now there's a good chance this works on the value side, I haven't even checked. But with Matz potential where it currently stands, I say this trade needs a couple hitting prospects tacked on to it.

I say add Peter Alonso and Ronny Mauricio, then kick yourself back a low prospect to make it work in the game.

What would you guys put as the rental price for half a year, deadline deal of an absolute superstar player? So a Machado this year, Arenado next year type talent?

Not sure if anyone saw Buster Olney’s article today on MadBum being avail at the deadline if SF bombs out but it got me thinking about my franchise. What would a package look like from NYY? Would Sheffield, Adams, Frazier, Estrada get it done or does Florial have to be in any deal?

Also, anybody have an idea on Greg Birds value? Other than the fact he can’t stay healthy irl I have a top 1B prospect and would be open to moving him.

What could I get for Steve Pearce? Just wondering his value based on your formula and if I could get a 5/6 starter-long reliever for him plus maybe some catching depth.

What teams would be a good fit for him?

I could be wrong but im getting -0.3 Mil for his surplus so you would have to give up something else just to get something back.
Better to just ride it out with him and check free agency. Have you tried using Biagini as you 5/6 slash long reliever? I was having a lot of success with him until he tore his rotator cuff and is now out 6+ months

Keeping Donaldson and Smoak and making a push this year but letting them both walk in the off season. To get some power and in the game some positional versatilty as far as an OF/1B/3B im going to try and trade for Duvall this off season. What would it take to get him he is currently on pace to have similar numbers as the past two years. When I trade for him he will be in his first Arb year.

Due to an injury to Happ, Biagini is in the rotation. I also have a small injury to Sanchez and Stroman, Estrada and Garcia are pitching crap.

Damn, I am having the same issue as the real Blue Jays with too many bats. Hernandez, Gurriel are needing ABs and Grichuk is leading my team in HR despite hitting .212. I feel I have to make a move with Pearce, or keep one of the young guys in AAA until an injury occurs. Otherwise, I can deal Pillar, but his surplus value is great and he isn’t hitting well in my franchise, so no one will pay his value at the moment.

I could deal Pillar for Hamels and DeSheilds, but that got mixed reviews so I haven’t pulled the trigger.

I moved Pearce to Houston to give them a versatile bat, and took back McCann's contract and so/so pitching prospect. McCann was rendered useless on the Astros because I did the Realmuto for Whitley/Martin trade.

Didn't work out the math but sort of followed the Liriano for Aoki/Teoscar trade last year at the deadline.

Ooo I like that idea. I could use McCan as the backup C / DH and get a AAA borderline MLB rotation guy. I’ll have a look at Houston’s low end starters when I get home.

However, I don’t know if I can do the Realmuto trade. Is there anywhere else besides Houston where this makes sense?

In mine to get ABs for some of the guys you mentioned I traded Pillar to Ari for Jon Duplantier, Pavin Smith and Jack Reinheimer. The values were about what pillar is worth I think slightly less and in mine they are contending and had no one producing in the OF seeing as they for sure only have Goldy for this year I look at it as a contend now move. This could get mixed reviews however
