And for hitting, because if you swing then is not based on ratings

Or is classic simulation of baseball only for pitching?

My online impressions: shout out to everyone that can actually play this game on a regular basis online. They pushed Diamond Dynasty on me when I started the game with that tutorial so I continued with it for like an hour to give it a shot and play some online. “Played” 3 games. All of them got disconnected. I got hit with 2 losses. I actually wanna say thank you for the terrible servers, if the servers were good I might have gotten hooked online with the game and then spent more money on diamond dynasty. At least I don’t have to worry about that. Can’t give any real gameplay impressions yet because everything was so laggy. But that’s my online impressions. It still stinks. I’ll be back with offline impressions after I play a couple games.

Funniest damn thing I’ve read all day. Clearly you haven’t used or don’t understand classic pitching. It’s not just press and go.

Anyways, back to enjoying the way I like to pitch, classic pitching. Feel free to keep crapping on guys playing the inferior way.

Im not crapping on guys playing the "inferior" way, I'm crapping on the devs for not making other pitching mechanics challenging enough for those who prefer not to play classic

For those who want to debate Classic pitching please do so in another thread?

Nobody wants to come into the impressions thread and read about people on opposite ends of a topic, debate each other back and forth.

            --

In regards to pitching, I'm loving the changes to it. Pitching with the meter on default Legend, there is a great variance between pitchers who can locate/command and those who struggle. You can also get the sense of difference between an Ace and back-end of the rotation starter.

You are required more this year to pay attention to how your pitching hitters, especially the 2nd and 3rd time through the lineup. Pitcher Analysis is your friend (Please SDS bring this to the forefront in '20), because pitching a pattern will get you squared up.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Gameplay is great! Plus the upgraded polish on the graphics and new presentations is awesome. Ive played about 5 games and I score most of my runs by driving runners in with hits. In previous years I would score 90 percent of my runs using the long ball....Dare I say the game is finally realistic!....I play on allstar settings and hit 3 or 4 homer runs over a 5 game span. Defense is also a lot of fun and the throwing meter is great finally (reminds me of MVP back in the day). They didn't try to reinvent the wheel and I'm happy with that. I hope they dont patch the hitting cause I think they hit the nail on the head out of the box. All I can say is its a outstanding game and can only imagine what the next generation titles will be like. Future looks bright!

Love the new outfield defensive ratings scheme...really makes you zero in with mediocre outfielders, and I believe it will also make us sub in defensive guys late in games. Nice touch.

Pitching speeds are definitely faster this year. In my slider set, last year I was at 8. This year I dropped to 7 and it feels pretty close to the same.

I loved 18. It was my first ever MLBTS game as I've been a 360 lifer, and only had an updated MLB 2K13 game of 5 years worth of roster updates. So I bought a PS4 just for MLBTS. I LOVE 19 - absolutely love it. I already have my slider set good to go and I'm going to just carry over some classic franchise files from 18 to hold me over until a better roster file for 19 drops.

Re: MLB 19: First Impressions Thread (IMPRESSIONS ONLY)

My impressions, playing on All-Star Hitting with Analog, and Pulse meter HOF Pitching. Played 3 games on a carryover Franchise that I'm using from 18 that has Top 100 prospects + correct contracts.

2 Random games in April: Won 11-2, Won 7-5 (in 12 innings)
Simmed to playoffs as Yankees - Game 1 of ALDS against Angels, won 2-0.

                            - Hitting feels generally easier, and therefore better, than last year. On default speeds I'm seeing the right result for the right pitch if my swing timing is correct. (As many have noted, last year's hitting felt a little too random at times). I saw a decent variety of hits (think they've got this nailed down), and even had two or three singles right up the middle that didnt hit the pitcher. (One of my biggest gripes about 18). Fantastic! I'm excited for this. I may finesse the sliders a bit to make All Star a little more challenging vs. jumping to HOF, but I am using the Yankees for the most part as well, so it's not surprising I'm hitting homers with Judge and Giancarlo

                            - Pitching on HOF pulse feels identical to last year to me. I've long debated moving my pitching difficulty to Legend, but last time I played on it I got creamed with pretty much any pitcher I used. Right now it feels a *tad* too easy, although in one of my games I played, I let up 5 runs to the Rays in the 9th to blow a lead.

                            - Fielding feels great out of the box, but I'm curious about playing around with the meter settings a bit more. Like the added emphasis on it this year. Infield play in particular is noticeably improved. (Not sure I love the default dynamic camera angle however).

                            - Presentation wise was a bit hit or miss for me. On the one hand, the Division Series game against the Angels had all the feels of a real playoff game. (I was SUPER pumped to win 2-0, and even had a huge strikeout with Sevvy on Trout with two guys on base. Pumped my fist). Batter step outs from the box and general in between play cuts / shots are really lifelike and good.

                            - On the other, I noticed several presentation glitches. (Including not seeing the proper replays on a strikeout sequence, as well as a complete freeze in one replay of a close play at first). Heidi Watney is a good addition generally, but in 3 games, she repeated the same 3 paragraphs with her in-inning breaks. I know it's already something that will feel old. Not to mention, each cut away during her segments showed a player who was warming up on deck.. who actually made the last out in the previous inning. I'm assuming these might get cleaned up, but who really knows.

Overall - good first impression and I'm excited to play a lot more this year!

I love classic. Actually to keep it fresh, I actually rotate through the different pitching types depending on how I feel that day. They all have their merits.

Don’t really have anything to add that hasn’t already been said.

                                Loving the presentation.

Game looks brighter and sharper to me.

                                Defensive play is amazing.

Crowd noise is much more lively.

Only issue I’m having is with difficulty. I played 18 right up to the 25th and I’m finding my timing just a little off so far. Just going to have to adjust.

My opinion this is the BEST Show yet.
