Are these frame rate issues tied to 4K/HDR only and PS4 Pro?

It’d be great if mods would not let threads like this one be hijacked about 1 overblown topic as usual, frame rate has been mentioned 15 times, we get it already that some guys are hypersensitive to it......... move on

I play on my Pro with HDR on And Balanced, not one hitch or anything at all effecting my Frame Rate. I remember when I used to see slow down on double plays, I have seen none of that this year.

Re: MLB 19: First Impressions Thread (IMPRESSIONS ONLY)

Before rebuilding my database, I played a quick inning at Coors. Overall, when the ball was in play, it was pretty choppy.

After rebuilding my database, I've played a few innings at both Guaranteed Rate Field and Miller Park (roof closed). Overall, pretty smooth like the first few parks I tried but some hitches here and there.

I played '18 as recently as yesterday. I'm playing on a PS4 Pro, on a very nice 4K TV, with the exact same settings in '19 as I used in '18 (HDR on, Fast Mode). '19 has some annoying framerate issues, compared to '18 which ran smooth as butter for me. Pretty disappointing, reminds me of my experience with '16 and the framerate issues I was having.

That aside, I am definitely digging the new feel of hitting and fielding. I use quick counts, so it appears that I'm missing out on these new pre-pitch angles because of that? Too hard to judge this game after only messing around with it for a few hours. It's baseball, and the Show, so I'll definitely play it a ton. I hope either these framerate issues go away or I find a work around somehow. Enjoy the game y'all, happy baseball season.

I made this thread for discussing the framerate issues.

By no means am I trying to silence anyone on the issue. I just thought that since the issue isn't isolated to one or two members, that having a dedicated thread would allow those who are experiencing the issue to discuss and try to provide help, without others getting upset with that conversation taking place in the impressions thread.

For those that are experiencing the issue, I truly hope that some remedy can be found.

Re: MLB 19: First Impressions Thread (IMPRESSIONS ONLY)

So I need to correct an error that I made. I confirmed that the packs had become more expensive and that they’re smaller. BUT then I started getting reward packs from missions and realized they were the same 2/6 format as the last few years. So the result packs are still in the game. Remains to be seen if this first set is special to the launch window and the less expensive packs will come back. But the other packs are still in the game.

As far as the gameplay. Holy **** is it amazing. SDS please please please please don’t mess with the hitting this year. You finally nailed it out of the box. Fielding is a joy. It’s great to see studs making plays and holding your breath whenever a ball is hit to a 50 rated defender. So much to do. Nothing feels grindy. Amazon job. Thanks for bringing the joy back SDS! Re: MLB 19: First Impressions Thread (IMPRESSIONS ONLY)

Quick Impressions after two games, and using my Ultra-Realistic slider set, that I load the latest version from the prior year, and adjust after ten games.

Colors pop, looks great, faces are better and so far, I think the pitch movement has seen some upgrade towards realism. That said, can we someday assign an SDS employee to go to Baseball Reference or Brooks Baseball, and write down the pitches that pitchers actually have? David Price has a sinker and a curveball. It literally took me less than 15 seconds to find that... And yet in 2019, he has neither in this game. We see thread after thread about the color of dugout walls and whether or not the infield dirt behind the plate is the correct shade of red, but pitch repertoire... *sigh*

While I like the camera additions pre pitch, it takes some getting used to not pressing A to get out of the screen, and realize you chose the #1 pitch.. Plus, if you are looking for the catcher's input on a big pitch, it is not there. Likewise, you can peek in at the catcher's sign when you are on offense, and cheat on the pitch he called. I'm turning it off.

Fielding is good so far, although lots of miscues in the outfield using my sliders... I'll play more games, but it seems like if you go with an easy touch on the stick running to the ball, you'll pay dearly. Better to just run full speed, and slow down at the ball marker. Arms are better, branch animations are better, and runners respect the better arms in the outfield for sure. Well done.

Hit variety with regards to choppers, and flares are super cool and fresh. And although it threw me off to begin with, the new Defense Dynamic camera got a tweak. It really shows the depth and scale of the field in relation to the player's size. This is an upgrade, and after a few games, it will be easy to transition to.

I have been pounded both games so far, with Price giving up a lot of hits and runs. Maybe that's because he is missing 20% of the pitches he uses in real life.

Presentation is freshened up and looks great. I won't say it is all-star caliber yet, but to grind out a career like that is something to be proud of...

Player models seemed to have gotten a retouch. Guys that are,... *ahem*.. "portly".. look like they carry more weight.

Sounds got an upgrade, and if you use the "Broadcast" setting with Dolby Surround, the umpire calls, bat sounds and crowds sound great.

So far, and obviously only two games in, it is early, but I am excited to dive in to my next three-game test set, and see what our new game brings. More to come shortly...

It’s a lot tougher to pitch this year with those middle of the road relievers (anyone rated below 70)

Except the person I responded to specifically mentioned '16 and said every version since '16 has drops. So which is it, last year was fine or all since '16 have drops? There isn't even a consensus on the basis for comparison.

I'm aware that most people played last year's game, that's why I only made 2 assertions, 1. '16 tells me I do notice significant FPS fluctuations and 2. The people saying the FPS this year is horrendous are either over exaggerating or are getting irregular results from what SDS would have gotten before shipping the game.

I noticed considerable choppiness during the game played during the "loading", but after the game was fully loaded and I played an exhibition game, it definitely cleared up.

Were you playing the "loading" exhibition, or was this noticeable to you even after the game was fully installed?

The “Moments” scenarios feel like they are a good idea with poor execution. For example, all of the rosters are current besides the 1-2 guys the moment is about. Tony Gwynn just lined out to Carlos Correa, lol.

Playing Twins (CPU) at the White Sox (me). Top of the 5th, I'm up 1-0. They have a runner on 2nd, Cron is up. 2 outs. I strike him out and Lopez goes crazy, which isn't anything new. However, did they ramp up the crowd noise this year? They seemed way more animated than I ever remembered, which is awesome.

I love the pitching this year. A bit harder to hit your spots so it’s not quite as easy to dominate with pure analog so far.

Piggybacking on my last post, I'm still in the same game. I'm still up 1-0 and batting in the bottom of the 8th. I'm using quick counts and Theme 1. Not sure if it's been like this the whole game, but I'm just noticing it. Underneath the scorebug, it says Torreyes is up next...even though he's in the field. So there's some type of bug there.

Same here. Once the game was fully loaded it’s been smooth. And even the loading game wasn’t terrible but it was definitely there.
