Re: Official MLB 19 the Show Trade Discussion

Looking for some rotation depth. Right now I've got Smith, Richards, Alcantara, Lopez and Urena, with Zac Gallen as my next man up in case of injury. I signed James Shields to a minor league deal, and he's made a couple of spot starts for me, but he's been outstanding as my long man, so I'd like to keep him there.

Shelby Miller is having an equally bad season for the Rangers as he is IRL (8.89 ERA, 2.08 WHIP, -0.8 WAR), and the Rangers are sitting dead last in the AL West.

Thoughts on what it would take to get him? Low C prospect?

I'm assuming that he'll either be DFA'd, waived, or thrown into a cannon and sent to outer space by the Rangers if he doesn't turn it around at some point, but I don't want to rip them off.

Given that Miller was non-tendered last year and is having a terrible year in game, I'd say low C is fair. Plus, I don't think he has any arbitration years left.

As for rotation depth, Matt Shoemaker could be a good, cheap-ish option (bit of Jays bias). Also, Matt Boyd, Derek Holland or Homer Bailey could be other available innings eaters.

2019 has about 70% of season left. So that was used to get his value. Added another $7 million due to contenders over pay for him.

        2.4(WAR) x .70(Percent of season left) = 17.01

        17.1 (Value) - 10 (Contract Value) = $7 million value

        $7 million value + $7 million surcharge = $14 million value.

Looking at teams in need of Abreu are Rockies, Athletics, Astros.

No team really needs him as they are all in 1st place however he could push any team to a high contender.

We're about a month and half away from the trade deadline but White Sox don't see a need to hold on to him in case of injury and lack of potential compensation draft pick from QO so their looking to make a deal now.

        ________________________________
Rockies currently have Tater Central on that roster. They have Mark Trumbo and Ian Desmond switching between 1B and DH. Trading for Abreu would move Trumbo to DH and Desmond to utility role. This would also allow Dale Murphy to go to 2nd base full time.

        Rockies offer Tyler Nevin (#6) ($7.25) + Jesus Tinoco (#13)($4.05) + Reid Humphreys (16)($4.05) = $15.35 million value

        ________________________________

Athletics are 1 game behind Astros in AL West. Adding Abreu would move Matt Olson to LF for the current season. Are they playing above their means this year or the real deal?

Athletics offer Sheldon Neuse (9)($5.5) + Grant Holmes (13)($4.05) + Marcus Brito (16)($1.65) + Dustin Folwer

        Prospect value = $11.2 million
Dustin Fowler has been the utility OF with 4 years of control left. He could be an instant starter for the White Sox and the A:d have an influx of Outfielders due to 2018 team trades.

        ________________________________
The Astros won the WS in 2018 and they are looking at a repeat. They have the best pitching staff in the league. They currently traded for Kendrys Morales to be DH for them. But adding Abreu would add more power to the line up and force Yuki Gurriel to DH.

        Astros offer Bryan Abreu (10)($7.25) + Ronnie Dawson (23)($3.75) + Jonathan Arauz (18)($1.65) + A.J. Reed

Prospect Value = $12.65 million. A.J Redd is in AAA and can come be the White Sox future 1B or DH

I did a random number generator between the 3 teams and the A's won.

Abreu first games as an Athletic are vs my team the Orioles!

Made a move for Miller. Optioned him to AAA. Ended up cruising through 4 innings before getting hurt. Out 1-2 months.

          dEpTh Is GoOd!

Guess Zac Gallen will go back to being my next man up

Going to start a Braves franchise as my second favorite team growing up behind the Tigers. Watching Maddox, Glavine and Smoltz on TNT when I was a kid. Also Chipper and Andruw Jones.

Anyway, I’d like to push for a championship with them year one. They have so many prospects I don’t mind moving them to upgrade an already solid roster to try and out them over the top.

I’d be looking to upgrade at least one corner outfield spot. Along with a closer and looking to also upgrade the top of the rotation and maybe a bullpen arm or two. Thinking of moving Camargo to LF or RF as he’s blocked by Donaldson this year. Any realistic ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Official MLB 19 the Show Trade Discussion

I'm in 2020 with the Blue Jays and need help in the bullpen at trade deadline. Pirates are out of it and I'm considering this trade but not sure if I need to add more:

Pirates get: RHP Ryan Castellani (B POT, Rockies #11 prospect), RHP Jason Worth (C POT, lottery ticket), RHP Hector Perez (Blue Jays # 14 prospect)

Blue Jays get: Richard Rodriguez (3.82 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, 70 Ks in 63.2 IP)

Rodriguez is 30 but has 3 years of control after this season. I'm also happy to include SS Logan Wormouth as his potential is B instead of Perez but the Pirates seem pretty stacked in the infield. Thanks.

Pedro Strop has, for the most part been good for me as closer through mid-June. But as I near the All-Star break I’m starting to think about a possible upgrade, and how it would be nice to have Strop, Edwards Jr., as well as Cishek for my setup guys.

                1. What closers would be available as rentals or just available in general?
                2. What would be the asking price? Cubs don’t have a ton to work with in regards to trading.

I was just logging on to ask something similar. Colome has been lights out for the Sox. 1.56 ERA 29 saves in mid-July. Sox are out of it though. Have the Cubs soured on Happ? Would a Colome-Happ swap work out?

What about Happ for Giles+Tepera+something? Solidifies the pen with a good closer+reliever, and gets you another body.

Earlier in the thread we had a Happ for Tepera+Zeuch+Pardinho, but it's hard to imagine the Jays being in a position where they're moving many prospects.

This deal has worked brilliantly for both teams. Tepera hasn’t allowed a run in three weeks since the deal and has solidified himself as a setup man for the Cubs. Both prospects are lighting it up on the farm.

Happ has been lights out for me. Came over with a batting average below .200 in minimal action but has solidified himself as my number 2 spot hitter batting .296 with 8 homers since the trade! He’s played RF, LF, 2B, 3B and even one game in CF. As he is still young, he fits in with the team nicely.

Not a trade, but signing kimbrel just makes too much sense.

As the Indians, who should I trade to get Clint Frazier? Starting a franchise without real life injuries so Frazier would be down in AAA and like the Yankees 5th or 6th outfielder.

As a potential Kluber trade, is German, Frazier, and Urshela too little of a return for Kluber?

Gausman is relatively cheap ($5.2 mil surplus), but it'd really depend on where the Braves are sitting when you go to make the trade.

What team are you trying to acquire him with?

Do you think I could get a C (25-30) prospect from a team for Buchholtz or Richard?

Buchholtz has been in the rotation with a low 2’s ERA and has been great.

Richard actually has been between the rotation and bullpen and has been magical with an ERA below 2.

Both guys giving me high quality innings and would be a welcomed addition to any rotation or bullpen who are contending. Both expiring contracts.

I want to make room for the young guys but don’t want to give them away for nothing given their success this year.
