Love it that the pre pitch presentation is real time. You can take a practice swing, choose your pitch.

It isn't vague either. She actually talks about what's happening in the game and incorporates data. The shots of managers, coaches and players interacting during her reports feels very life-like. You won't see her in every single game, so that keeps it fresh. Heidi Watney, the new pre-pitch cameras, and appropriate player emotions makes it feel like a totally different game to me. I have no regrets with this purchase.

Also, I remember some users freaking out about her wearing coats in July and whatnot, but fortunately her choices of attire are appropriate and copious. Haven't seen the same outfit twice. You can tell SDS didn't half-*** this feature.
I bought the game based on this feedback and so far you have not led me astray. I am doing a carryover save and am after the all -star break and in two of the three games heidi has spoken about league ranks of the other team in pitching and in hitting with a nifty OSD.

Also, the opposing pitcher was struggling in the second inning and got an OSD showing how many pitches he had thrown in that inning along with some commentary. Well done, SDS!

Same, I am passing on this year's game most likely due to lack of features and most importantly lack of accuracy on stadium details

7-6 down in the 9th, top of the inning and I hit a game tying homerun.
The player emotion was really on par with that situation, was awesome to see.

Maybe that was already in and i just never noticed it, but it looked great, including the dugout celebrations.

Lost in the bottom of the 9th after a basehit, pinch runner, sacrifice bunt, stolen 3rd base (i was not paying attention) and another hit.
Didn't mind losing at all as it was just very realistic.

Saw in one of the dugout celebrations after a home-run was hit, a teammate splash the guy who hit the home-run with water.

Was shocked. Amazing to see. Not sure if this has been in the game before, but I've never seen it happen.

Wish we had more of the dugout celebrations happen more frequently.

Little chopper down third base, Devers runs up and does the "make sure it's foul" slap away animation....

              Uhhh..yeah.

Too bad this one is fair. He slaps the ball in fair territory, and playing in Oakland, the ball rolls far enough away for the runner to advance to second base...

              Had never seen this one..

And yet, I still don't get the notion/motion to begin with. I know we've had this conversation before, but there is no gained advantage to swiping it one way as opposed to the other, or just plain touching it with your glove, hand, or foot. If it's foul, it's foul. If it's fair, it's fair. Once you first touch it, it will be what it is based on where it is. And you damn better be ready to make a play if it ends up being fair, so swiping it is not only a delayed tactic but a bad idea.

Sorry to see this happened to you, haha.

In game when you press the options button you can then press square to see the teams lineups.

The Story Line feature has gotten a little better. In this video, I feature Cardinal Jack Flaherty implosion and how the OSD's, Commentary and Stats Chronicle his demise. I was looking forward to Heidi chimming in but she didn't feel like dumping on ole Jack.

                      Agreed.

I am not sure where this whole notion of "The Swat" came from, as all motions and happenings after the initial contact, have no bearing on the call, nor the ball's resting place.

If you touch it in fair territory, it is immediately fair, likewise, once touched in foul territory, it is foul.

I would have rather seen the animation be fielding the foul ball cleanly, and then back-handing the ball into the stands for a lucky fan to take home, or being able to fire the ball over to first, only to have the umpire signalling the foul ball call.

Of course, if you are playing with Analog Fielding, there would be a chance of killing someone in the front row with a Red- Meter missile... so maybe that second idea should be scrapped...

I don't remember this animation from MLB 18. CPU has man on first with one out. I throw the pitch and the CPU hits a bullet to 1st base. The runner on first dives back but my first basemen tags him before he touches the bag. The camera focuses on my first basement but you see the runner laying on the ground throwing his hands up in the air and shaking his head like he's muttering, "really, wtf?!" But it was the fact that it wasn't the focal point of the camera. It was off to the side and barely in frame making it seem like he was alive.

I just had a pitcher strike me out with his fourth pitch. This may not seem odd but his fourth pitch is listed as “none”. Turns out it was a palm ball that floated to the plate like a softball at 50 mph

Inside of the rightfield fence at Camden there is a guy in an office looking at a computer with the current batter’s stats on his screen! I’ve never noticed this before.

Baltimores pitcher just gave up the first run of the ballgame in the top of the 7th after giving up only 3 hits and was pulled. The catcher shook his hand and he gave the crowd a wave of the cap as they gave him a standing O. Really neat and realistic.
