The Cardinals won Sunday afternoon in Great American Ballpark to take the season's series finale against the Reds. The Cardinals won the Friday opener as well, and finish the season with a record of 101-62 which is the best in the National League and tied for the best in baseball with Orioles.

The Cardinals will wait to see who their opponent will be for the Divisional Series as they will play the winner of the wildcard game between the Cubs and Rockies.

A season after missing the playoffs all together, the Cardinals are the favorites of the National League to get back to the Fall Classic.

Patrick Wisdom wins second straight NL MVP

For the 2nd straight season, Patrick Wisdom has won the National League's Most Valuable Player award. Patrick Wisdom followed up his 2022 MVP season by leading the league in homeruns (65), RBI's (136), runs(125), slugging % (.684), WAR (8.6), and OPS (1.061). Wisdom also batted a career best .291 for the season.
It seems Wisdom has supplanted Mike Trout as the game's best player. Was he a year 1 draft pick?

No. He was a prospect in the Cardinals organization when I started this franchise in 2016. He has just worked his way from the minors to the Show and now to one of the, if not the, best player in the game.

Cardinals win Game 1 of NLDS over Rockies

The Cardinals have won Game 1 of the NLDS over the Rockies 6-1 in Busch Stadium.

The Cardinals got a solo homerun from Ozzie Albies to kick off the scoring in the very first inning. Two innings later in the 3rd, Juan Fabregas got an RBI single to make the lead 2-0. The Rockies got their first and only run in the 4th on a sac fly by Salvador Perez to cut the lead 2-1, but the Cardinals would extend it back to 2 runs thanks to Kolten Wong's solo homerun. The Cardinals finished the scoring by scoring 3 runs in the 5th thanks to a 2 run triple by Carson Kelly and then Kyle Funkhouser drove him in 2 batters later, making the lead the final score of 6-1.

Kyle Funkhouser went 6 innings allowing one earned run on 4 hits, striking out 3 and walking 3. The combination of Robby Scott, Mike Mayers, and Corey Littrell out the pen was enough to keep the Rockies from getting back into the game.

Game 2 is tomorrow with the Cardinals starting Michael Wacha and the Rockies will counter with Jon Gray.

Getting ready to start a new franchise today, still somewhat new to the series. I know you can carry over a franchise from the previous year to next year's game, but will that same franchise from the previous year have new things to next year's game in them? (Rangers new stadium, etc)

              Thanks in advance

I’m not a member of SDS but I am almost positive the Rangers new stadium will be in the game on launch. When you carry your save over, they will be in the default stadium for the team. So, assuming they have the new stadium in, yes you will play in it in MLBTS20 when you carry your Rangers franchise over.

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

I’ve been away from the Show for quite a while, think I’m plenty refreshed now and ready to get back into it. I guess with how long it’s been it’s been like an actual mini offseason in my franchise.

                  Anyway, onto Opening Day 2020.
Despite a solid spring at the plate from RF/DH Nelson Cruz, we decided to open the season with Brett Gardner on the roster instead. With all the offense this team already has without Cruz it was hard to justify keeping him on the roster and having to play a slow defensive liability in the OF often because of the 3 man bench. Instead, career Yankee Brett Gardner is back with the MLB club for his age 36 season. We will attempt to pass Cruz through waivers.

The following veterans have passed through waivers and are in the minors:
                  OF Nick Markakis
                  SS Troy Tulowitzski
                  2B Ben Zobrist
                  1B Mark Trumbo
                  SP Rick Porcello.

SP’s Tyler Anderson and Jose Urena both head to AAA as quality depth. Both are coming off good seasons with their former teams but went unsigned through most of the offseason.

                  Yankees 2020 Season Outlook:
While it’s very unlikely this team will outdo the 117 win club from last year in wins and losses, it could be better. With mostly the same stacked position player group returning, except now with one of the leagues best defensive catchers in Martin Maldonado backing up Sanchez, a rotation now featuring Syndergaard as well, and swapping out Betances and Ottavino in the bullpen for Doolittle, Morrow, and Melancon, this team is set. And there’s no obvious challenger in the division.

We open the season at home for 4 Vs Texas and then Arizona comes to town for 3.

                  MLB Headlines:

2020 Season Preview: Many notable faces in new places as we enter the 2020 season. After a salary dump by Boston, Pedroia looks to close out his career as a Brewer. Rays added Yasiel Puig, and dealt struggling CP Jose Alvarado to the Cubs after an ugly follow up season to his breakout 2018 and replace him with Cody Allen. A wave of quality players have joined the Giants, such as Josh Donaldson, Eric Thames, Gerrit Cole, Masahiro Tanaka, and Adam Ottavino. Marcell Ozuna is now a Ranger. LAD added Moustakas, Tommy La Stella, and Adam Eaton in a lineup that shockingly now features only 2 RH hitters. And the Blue Jays made a splash, adding 1B Anthony Rizzo.

Returns of Ronald Acuna Jr and Joey Votto.
One new young star, and one aging established star. After having his second MLB season cut short after only 3 games in what would be a lost season for Atlanta, Acuna looks to pick up where he left off. After a down year by his usual standards in 2018, Reds Joey Votto looked to prove that age wasn’t slowing him down before going down for the year only 4 games into the season. Now, after speculation of potential retirement, he’s back coming off a major injury for his age 36 season.

We're in trouble. The Cubs take the first two games of the NLCS in Atlanta.

We were cruising in Game 1. Acuña and Albies homered and Folty was cruising through five as we led 4-0. The Cubs loaded the bases with two outs in the sixth, so Biddle came in to pitch to Rizzo and Schwarber. He walked them both, but O'Day got out of the jam.

Almora hit a three-run homer off Winkler in the seventh. A batter later, Baez went deep to give the Cubs a 6-4 lead. Acuña homered again in the bottom of the inning, but that's as close as we could get as the Cubs held on for a 6-5 win.

Darvish was brilliant in Game 2 for the Cubs, taking a no-hitter into the sixth. With a 2-0 lead in the eighth, Darvish hit Inciarte to lead off the inning, and Acuña hit a massive homer to center to tie it at 2. But Rizzo answered with a homer off Kimbrel in the ninth as the Cubs won 3-2.

We'll try to get at least two games in Chicago as the series shifts to Wrigley Field.

Over in the AL, the Yankees took both games in Houston by identical 6-3 scores. Could we be looking at a Yankees-Cubs World Series?

Cardinals drop Game 2, series even at 1 with Rockies

The Cardinals dropped Game 2 of the NLDS to the Rockies 4-2 inside Busch stadium as the series is now tied at one game each in the best of 5 series.

The Cardinals got on the board early when 2023 NL MVP Patrick Wisdom drove home Ozzie Albies with an RBI double in the bottom of the 4th. The Cardinals were hitless until Wisdom's double. The Cardinals would add on one more in the 5th when Jo Adell hit his first homerun of the postseason making it 2-0 in favor of the Cardinals.

But the Rockies would bounce right back as Salvador Perez launched a 478 FT homerun to dead center to cut the lead in half at 2-1. The game would remain 2-1 into the 8th when Corey Littrell would serve up a 3 run bomb to Mike Tauchman who Littrell was brought on to face in a lefty vs lefty matchup. Tauchman's homerun would put the Rockies up 4-2, which would be the final score.

The Cardinals had a chance in the bottom of the 9th with bases loaded and one out, but Juan Fabregas hit into a game ending double play.

Game 3 is in Colorado with the Cardinals putting Carlos Martinez on the mound. The Rockies will counter with Riley Pint.

After playing every pitch of every game, I’ve finally finished season 1. The Blue Jays finished 8 games back of the Yankees for 2nd in the AL East. It was enough to secure the top wild card spot. We ended up facing off against the Angels who beat out the Red Sox by 1 game.

The Wild Card match was an instant classic. I threw Stroman out on the mound, who has had an amazing season (second in Cy Young voting) against Othani for the Angels.

The Angels hit Stroman hard in the first two innings and it was looking bad for Toronto, going down 5-0 after two. It would stay that way until the 7th, when Gurriel Jr., Biggio and Cervelli would all hit solo shots to chase Othani from the game, 5-3 Angels. Villar hit a RBI single to cut the lead to 5-4 and set up the bottom of the 9th.

Bedrosian would come in to face the top of the lineup. Gurriel Jr. started with a solo shot, his second of the game to tie it 5-5. Then, with one out, Jose Martinez walked to bring up Guerrero Jr. Vlad worked the count to 3-2 and then destroyed a breaking ball into the second deck of Rogers centre to win the game 7-5 Jays.

The Jays will move on to face the Yankees. Game one saw Shoemaker go up against Severino. The game was 2-2 going into the 8th when Ian Happ hit a lead off triple. He was driven in by Gurriel Jr. to make it 3-2. Cervelli hit a solo shot in the 9th for insurance and David Phelps closed it out as the Jays stunned the best team in baseball with a 4-2 game 1 win in Yankee stadium.

Next up, game two will see Trent Thornton take the mound against James Paxton. After a gruelling 162 game schedule this year, I could not have expected such a crazy wild card game. Just how far could this team go?

Yesterday was a pretty crummy baseball day.

Kyle Hendricks tossed a shutout as the Cubs took Game 3 of the NLCS, 5-0. We now need to channel our inner Red Sox to try to dig out of a 3-0 series hole.

Art imitating life, Acuña is the only one hitting for me. Freeman is 0-for-the-NLCS.

Art imitating life, Acuña is the only one hitting for me. Freeman is 0-for-the-NLCS.
                              You said that right.

Right now they have Mlb the show 19 is free on ps plus. If I were to download the free version from ps plus , would I still have my franchise in tact that I started with the hard copy of the game or would i lose it when I download the digital version ?
