Re: Pitchers as DH in franchise?? Why
I understand the mindset and I'm not trying to talk you out of going back to '18 so you can just relax and enjoy playing baseball.
I just want to say, that I am 70+ games into my franchise, and I have yet to experience this bug myself (playing interleague games) or with any simmed games for other teams. I check everyday when I view the boxscores.
I don't know what the trigger is, and the not knowing is extremely frustrating for everyone because if it truly is "random", then I don't know how long it would take or how difficult it would be for SDS to find and fix. It unfortunately may not be able to be fixed via a patch.
Again, I'm not trying to talk you out of going back to '18. But I just wanted to share that while it seems this bug could pop up at anytime, throughout 70+ games I haven't seen it nor do I honestly expect to, because personally I think it would've happened by now.
Anyways...just providing .02 and my experience involving this issue.Comment

Re: Pitchers as DH in franchise?? Why
In the testing I did, it appeared to trigger only with specific pitchers (my theory is a hidden two-way attribute) and only if they were in the starting rotation AND had a higher overall than the player in your lineup as a DH. I didn’t test thoroughly enough to confirm that, but it would explain why a lot of people don’t see it. They either don’t have an affected pitcher on their team or do but his overall isn’t high enough to trigger it.In Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012

Re: Pitchers as DH in franchise?? Why
For the record so far:
I carried over my Year 3 Yankees franchise in the off season and I have not encountered the bug at all on any team.
I started a brand new Fictional Franchise with Bacons roster and have not seen the bug at all.
I have not attempted to carry over any classic rosters from 18 yet.
But obviously this is real. I really hope SDS is testing and recreating this bug and I am sure they can.
I am confident it will be resolved very soon.

Thankfully haven't had it happen to me at all within my regular franchise.Comment

They did actually go over some of the changes for 1.10 on that stream and there's a few gameplay changes, though I'm not sure if they are global or specific to H2H play. Line drive success and error frequency tuning in a few specific cases, IIRC.Comment

Agree that it's probably almost finished and will be out soon - they said they have an internal date they expect it done by, but they're not releasing that info.

For clarification, 1.10 tomorrow - but that's a step away from the patch with the Pitcher DH fix.Comment

Re: Pitchers as DH in franchise?? Why
It's even worse than I realized. My AAA team kept DHing one of their pitchers. I changed him to a RP, which lowered his overall 3 points. That pushes his overall below that of my actual DH. So I thought that solved it. But now they're constantly using him in RF. Seems to be whenever they want to give a starting OF a day off. Worse yet, playing the field rapidly depletes his energy and then he has no stamina to be able to pitch on his scheduled start. I can't think of any good way to prevent this from happening. I do not want to quick manage every AAA game. I play all 162 MLB games already. Maybe I have to just keep switching his spot in the rotation to trick the game into thinking he's pitching the next game so that they don't use him. It's just shameful that this is still so broken as we head into June.
The whole system is just so poorly and lazily implemented. For one thing, the game should not be comparing my pitcher's overall (determined by his pitching attributes) to my DH's overall (determed by hitting attributes) in order to determine who plays. It should be the pitcher's hitting attributes vs the DH's hitting attributes. And playing the field is not the same as pitching. If they were going to implement two-way players, pitching and fielding should not draw from the same pool of energy. As others have noted, even when this feature works as intended with Ohtani, he ends up pitching terribly because DHing doesn't allow him to recover energy between his starts.Last edited by Ace1234NY; 05-25-2019, 12:35 AM.Comment

Unfortunately, the guy in the bullpen with enough stamina to replace him has the same bug happen when he's in the rotation. 😅Comment
