Re: Fictional Rosters have made me love The Show again!!

Starting on '18, a friend and I simmed 20 seasons, so that all relevant players are fictional. During the final two seasons of simming, we started doing the drafting, trading, etc...

Then after picking up in 2038, we're now in our 5th season and have moved on to '19. It's been exciting seeing some players that we drafted in 2036 and 2037 becoming our stars. It's been interesting seeing some players fall out of our good graces and I can think of at least one player who we felt was blocked/only a platoon vs LHP that has since become a star on his new team.

For me, I think I have a problem keeping interest once reality gets altered with real players. Like already said, I think it's easier to deal with players changing uniforms when the only reality is in the franchise file itself.

Re: Fictional Rosters have made me love The Show again!!

After reading this thread I decided to give it a go. Fictional Rosters are a great thing. And as there cant be too much of a great thing, you might want to check out my Final Fantasy Roster.
Its based on Bacons fictional roster. Great work!
      What i did:
      • Many CAP imports
      • Many Facelifts and appearance edits
      • No Closers
      • The occasional rerating
      • assignments to the MiLB levels and 40 man, although its not perfect
      • Renamed 90% of players to have a higher authenticity (If there was a reasonable audio, they may have one):
o fewer english, more unique germanic, slavic, french, scandinavian etc. surnames.
o included quite a few unusual names for Dominicans, Venezuelans and Cubans
o some players from more exotic origins like Curaçao and Aruba (great names!) Bahamas, Nicaragua, Honduras, Brasil, Panama, Virgin Islands etc. with authentic names
o Some of the generic weird CAPs a la "Barack Jacobsen" are still in it, but mostly in lower rated relief pitching and with reasonable names
It is a work in progress and might get updated.

      Look for FF Roster.

Not sure exactly how to react to this or even if I should but I'll throw this in the "constructive criticism pile."

I’d take what was said with a grain of salt. Judging by the amount of downloads and rating your original Fictional Roster has got you’ve done a great job taking the “Fictional World” to the mainstream. This stuff goes with that territory.

I for one appreciate the countless hours you have spent honing the Roster into a thing of beauty. I’ve been through it with a fine tooth comb and it’s so meticulously created I haven’t been able to bring myself to edit anything (or have then changed it back!) which is a first for me.

I agree it's brilliant. it's like being in a whole new world knowing nothing. and my preconceived thoughts go out the window.

The only issue really it the commentary SUCKS with this so just turn it off. because it's all generic names and robotic drivel

I find it the exact opposite. I have found the longer I play the deeper the commentary gets. I really enjoy the way they have built it and added it to it this year. I enjoy more in my fictional franchise that my real world one.

I agree with this 100 percent as well. I've had more fun and gotten way deeper into franchise than I ever have before. Thanks to fictional rosters.

I’ll throw in I love it that at least everyone Bacon created (I’m pretty sure) has a audio name that’s in the game. No more “No.15 up to bat”.

Re: Fictional Rosters have made me love The Show again!!

I honestly have always rejected the ideal of a fictional franchise, but I think it will do exactly what most are saying and that is breath new life into Franchise. I jump in and out for long periods, come to Franchise and realize so much has changed from real life to my franchise that I want the more current rosters. This would eliminate that and that add moving into the next year, this could be a solid way to keep Franchise fresh and really build into something unique.

I do wish we could change home stadiums for teams as another way of making things fresh, but kudos to the roster, I am checking them out and starting a franchise tonight.

Thank you. This was one of the goals: only use names in the audio bank so Matty V will always announce the name of the player.

If I had the option, I would try to go clean slate for any fictional franchise...and hopefully we get an option on PC soon.

I'd change all stadium names, remove all retired numbers and adjust primary uniforms/colors but hey, we gotta work with what we've got.

It might be a little crazy but when I start a Fictional Franchise I give all the teams sponsorships so they can afford to sack their managers. Then I go through and give them all a Fictional Manager and sometimes coaches as well depending on how dire each teams morale is.

If they make coaches editable this would help in that area.
