Re: Fictional Rosters have made me love The Show again!!
Showtyme, you inspired me and I’m on board the Marlins train! I reinstalled 17/18 to grab some of my favourite players from justmuncs 2017 roster and will sprinkle them throughout Bacons Roster on their correct teams if their salary stays within Bacons limits.
My Marlins scored Tim Teixiera a Florida born Trout like CF signed to a 10 year deal. Jernigan is now in the process of being converted to 2B which has has seen a 5 point bump in his overall. A side benefit has been I can’t believe how much easier it is to bat at Marlins Park instead of Fenway especially when Bacon loves to throw in a funky action or two.
Bacon, as you know I’m in the laborious process of adding service time to a couple of dozen players and find it hard to comprehend how you’ve done nigh on a couple of thousand. I’ve also just noticed that for the most part you have done realistic options for players when you were simming. It’s something I didn’t even think of when adding service time and I might have to go back and redo a couple of the older players and burn some options along the way to fit with how perfect your Roster is. Options are something SCEA couldn’t even get right this year and you are a one man band. Well done!Comment

Re: Fictional Rosters have made me love The Show again!!
Also, somewhat related to my previous posts, I'll be starting a thread here on OS similar to the traditional franchise discussion thread but just for fictional rosters. This hypothetically would include discussions about my own roster, Volsfan39's and any other community created projects in the vault so look for that shortly after MLB20 drops!

I don’t understand Bacons fictional roster...how does the game play better?
Also is it not different than when I create my Highschool team...right..
So it is just fictional players correct..?Comment

Re: Fictional Rosters have made me love The Show again!!
One key area for me is that the Steal rating and Base Runner aggressiveness are often much higher than the Default Roster. For example my Marlins SS is rated Speed 69 Steal 56 BR AGG 78! I use Auto Baserunning and I’m continually seeing him pushing for extra bases and taking off for crazy steal attempts. His opinion of himself as a base runner far outweighs his speed and ability. It might seem more haphazard than the Default Roster but it’s an area in my opinion where a Fictional Roster has captured real life baserunning far better than the Default Roster.
Another point of difference is that hitters lefty/righty splits are more extreme and frequent. You can’t just look at the overall and assume a level of ability. Tampa Bays 82 rated switch hitting no 2 just took my lefty starter to the cleaners because I hadn’t checked his power was rated 42 righties and 92 lefties! You really have to do your homework and be on the ball with your bullpen management.
There also seems to be broader range of Fielding ability 10-99! I use autofielding and have seen lots of great animations of both good and bad fielding! It’s to the point where you have to make decisions on whether you carry a dud in the field just for his bat or a light hitting ace in field plays to support your No.5 starter. My Marlins SS/2B are both rated 99 Fielding and even though the are limited against lefties play 1/2 in the lineup everyday making my pitching staff so much better.
To me it’s the ratings that are the strong suit of Bacons Roster and play differently than the Default. The Fictional part is the icing on the cake. Best way to see the difference is to jump in for a few games and try it for yourself.Comment

The way the players are rated is different than the Default Rosters. It’s taken me a couple of years to embrace the difference but I couldn’t see myself going back to the Default Roster which to me now seems vanilla in comparison to Bacons Roster.

Re: Fictional Rosters have made me love The Show again!!
If you load Bacons Roster then go to Roster Control/Edit Player you will find BR Aggressiveness is the last Player Attribute. Bacon has done a lot of editing work to increase this attribute throughout the League and made base running for more lively as a consequence. For example just recently I was behind by one in the 8th inning of a game and my aforementioned SS led off the inning with a single and next batter up blooped one over the 1st baseman’s head down towards the RF corner. I don’t think my SS ever had any intention of stopping at 2nd and charged his way to 3rd. The RF pumped up by his powerful arm (another Bacon speciality) threw to 3rd looking for the out instead of protecting 2nd. The SS made it by a whisker and in the confusion the batter snuck round to second when there was only ever a single in it. A couple of contact hits later and I was back in the lead due mainly due to the influence of the BR Aggressiveness attribute. Note this is not to be confused with the Steal Frequency Slider which I have set at Default.Comment

Re: Fictional Rosters have made me love The Show again!!
With rebranding in the game in 20 I’m definitely going to run a second franchise using Bacons roster and rebrand every team.
Gonna treat it like an independent league and play all my games in minor league stadiums.

Maybe three...
How do I get Bacons roster..and more importantly..” is there a slider set that works best with this?”
Lastly ..The BR Aggressiveness attribute is on the player itself right ..i don’t remember this as I though BR Aggressiveness was tied to base stealing ..
Anyway thanks a ton ...Last edited by tuckermaine; 02-15-2020, 11:01 PM.Comment

Re: Fictional Rosters have made me love The Show again!!
With the devs saying that commentary will be specific too rebranded teams a whole new league would feel fresh and unique.
I’m actually more excited for this than the full minor league rosters.
Crazy.

Ok I’m really excited here..I’m going to fire up 19 had put away because of baserunning passiveness. Two more things and I’ll leave you alone...

Looks like there will be yet another fictional roster provided by @tuckermaine with details here on OS. MLB20 will be full of tons of fictional rosters!
