I feel that if only red throws resulted in errors then I would never see a single throwing error. Once I got accustomed to the speed of the meter, hitting the green quickly became automatic, with a rare yellow slip here and there, but I’ve never come close to hitting the red. There really needs to be a difficulty setting to adjust which at least affects the severity of the penalty for missing the green, and maybe also the size of the green area itself.

Re: MLB The Show 20 Impressions Thread
You hit one of my gripes on the head....
Yellow should be a throw that is in the dirt, maybe short-hops the first baseman, or is off-line just a bit.
Now, when that happens, the rating for the fielder receiving the ball comes into play. So, when you substitute your power hitting 1B in the late innings to gain better defense, now the percentage of yellow throws that the error gets saved on, is based on the receiving fielder as well...
Green, and perfect throws will be easy to receive, and will have little effect on the second half of the play.
Red throws sail the bag, or are just way off the mark, because that happens in real life too.
Yellow gets a dice roll, and it is based on the input, and the ratings of the fielder to either make the scoop and save the error, or McGuire it, and have it bounce off the mitt.
Agree 100% on the yellow throw.

Re: MLB The Show 20 Impressions Thread
What is the deal with the runner ALWAYS being held at 3rd with auto base running on? It is impossible to score from second on a base hit. They have the runner held before the ball is even in the fielders glove when they could easily make it home. Really frustrating.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 20 Impressions Thread
The game is playing very well so far. But two small things:
1. I feel that the opponent pitcher (CPU) gets ready to pitch way too fast for my liking, as soon as they cut the pitcher quickly set ups and throws.
2. And the other thing is that way too often outfielders take too long to get the ball to the infield on running catches specifically.
Other than this the game feels very smooth!!Comment

What difficulty, sliders, view, inputs? Although there does seem to be a lot of power this year there are things that can drastically alter the outcome.YouTube: MLB The Show 21 Atlanta Braves FranchiseComment

Re: MLB The Show 20 Impressions Thread
Needless to say, it sucks being isolated, but at least the timing of the release of this game was good. I hadn't purchased any video game in 2 1/2 years, hadn't bought the Show since 17 and played little video games over the past two years, but I'm getting back into it with a lot of time on my hands.
Played four games and I concur with others who say this is the best version. I have a regular PS4 and non-HDR TV and the game still looks great.
Couple things I'd love to see in the next gen:
1. Instead of Heidi Whatney (annoying, useless -- in the game), would be great if they showed highlights from other games during your game (like NHL94 way back in the Sega Genesis days) or had a weekly recap show with highlights from around the league (like the magnificent NFL2k5).
2. Would be great if players wore their team uniforms in the All-Star Game, like I believe they do in the Japanese Pro Spirits Baseball game (fewer teams probably makes it easier). It's on me. I shook his hand too hard. It was a hard ... kind of a slap-shake.

Re: MLB The Show 20 Impressions Thread
The biggest issue I had in the two previous versions I played (16 and 17) was baserunning. I always set to auto, but I had many instances of runners not advancing when they should (as ridiculous as remaining on first base on a groundball and not tagging from third on a deep flyball). That issue appears to still be in the game.
However, I might have discovered the fix, albeit just a small sample size. I found when you you're in auto baserunning mode and do a manual control, the game changes to manual baserunning (even though it still stays auto in the settings). In my most recent game, when I inadvertently did a manual move to trigger this, I went into settings and changed it to manual baserunning, and then after the next batter, changed it back to auto, and that seemed to fix the problem.
But it will require more testing. This was extremely frustrating in 17, costing me lots of runs and some games. It's on me. I shook his hand too hard. It was a hard ... kind of a slap-shake.

Getting a perfect-perfect HR feels so nice in this game. I hit one with Josh Naylor last night at PNC that went into the Allegheny at 469 feet. You could tell that it was destroyed as soon as contact was made.

You’re not seeing batter walk ups? Do you have the pre-pitch cameras on. The CPU takes about 9 seconds to pitch between each pitch if you don’t hit X.Comment
