not sure if it is because of the latest patch but pitchers are back to being the hardest people to get out

Re: MLB The Show 20 Impressions Thread
Commentary for RttS is...really repetitive. Every time my player flies out (some times on popups too), Derosa says "Almost Matty....". Every. Single. Game. It is brutal. Just started playing with commentary off. It's rough.est 1978

Re: MLB The Show 20 Impressions Thread
I wish I had a video of this......
Im batting, man on 2nd, 2 out. Down 3-2, top of the 8th. I have my franchise on AUTO-BASERUNNING.
Batter hits a single to right centerfield gap, RF cuts it off.
Runner from 2nd is chuggin home, throw comes in to the cut-off, I'm watching the runner score, and I look up, and the batter is bustin his A** to second base, the throw from the cut-off man (who is standing near pitchers mound) goes to second, head first slide, SAFE.
Runner who scored pumps his fist, runner on 2ND pumps his fist, and I am cheering like I'm a fan in the stands. LOL.
I win it in the top of 11th with a solo shot to RF.
The game is great.JUUUUUUUST A BIT OUTSIDEComment

Re: MLB The Show 20 Impressions Thread
As for the diving catch, I have no problem with how difficult it is, my issue is with human/CPU parity. It's harder for both this year, but still, like every year, the CPU has a way easier time making a diving play than the player.
If we had the human diving success rate of last year, and the CPU had the success rate of this year, we still wouldn't have parity. That's how big the gap is.

Re: MLB The Show 20 Impressions Thread
This game has really impressed me, especially since (in spite of my post above) a lot has been done to bring more parity between the player and the CPU. That's always been an important aspect of the game to me: that I as a human player can replicate plays that the CPU is capable of.
Adding in split second automatic jumps and dives for the infield is a very welcome addition. Those were plays where (no matter how quickly I pressed the button) I could never come close to reaching parity with the CPU. Now I feel I'm on an equivalent level.
I'm also so happy they removed the CPU's precognition of not only where you were going to throw the ball, but at what speed and with what animation. I can finally get outfield assists! That was probably a lot more difficult to program than most imagine, so I really want to give props to this. The CPU finally makes mistakes on the basepads!
There's a lot more I'm happy with, but those were just a couple things I wanted to point out.
Another great iteration of the Show! Although the show continues to be a classic example of how the closer to perfection you get, the more the issues that remain stick out like a sore thumb. I'll save that for another thread though.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 20 Impressions Thread
Couple more, 24 games in:
1. Seems to me outfielders are a little slow, or maybe more deliberate and lacking urgency when getting the ball back into the infield. But I still have thrown some runners out at second, third and home.
2. Have yet to see a check-swing appeal called a strike. All have been called balls.
3. Seems to be more fouls than before, so I took foul sliders down a notch, but still quite a few, leading to increased pitch count. So I will bump it down further, both me and CPU.
Needless to say, isolation sucks, but at least the timing of the release of this game was good. Really enjoying this year's version after not having played since 17. Eager to see what the PS-5 brings. It's on me. I shook his hand too hard. It was a hard ... kind of a slap-shake.

I've had plenty check swings called against me.

Re: MLB The Show 20 Impressions Thread
I have devoted thousands of hours to sports gaming over the years and The Show 20 is simply the best sports game I have ever played. SDS has rounded out the PS4 generation by giving me most of the little things I’ve wanted in the Show for the last few years. Thanks SDS!Comment

Re: MLB The Show 20 Impressions Thread
I'm into June of my franchise and ran a ton of sims prior. The trade logic is really bad this year more I see.
In April and May trades are done purely to balance rosters. If the team does not have 1 more than every position or a player at each position in mlb or aaa it will trade best prospects to fill them. It appears April and June big months to do it.
At trade deadline in July is only time where teams look to push or rebuild and when they do they treat arbitration and renewable players as last year contract players. This has teams that are rebuilding trading their best young players. Examples are Mancini from Orioles, Bell from Pirates.

Re: MLB The Show 20 Impressions Thread
After playing around thirty games, I've the same issue that I had last year, on default HoF with directional hitting :
- The CPU make way too many contact on early / late swing for a foul ball, especially outside the zone while for me, an early/late swing, 90% of the time, it's a miss, even for a ball in the strike zone.
Sometimes, even a good swing timing result in a miss for me.Comment
