Thanks man! I do play every game entirely. Good news tho, after losing 9 out of my last 10 games to finish May, I started June on the right foot with a win against the Cubs at Wrigley.

I really enjoy play as rebuilders, every victory feels so good. The only instance I don’t get mad after a loss is if it’s against my Boston Redsox lol!

Re: MLB The Show 20 Franchise Discussion Thread

Finally about to start my 2020 season, off my Braves 2019 carry-over franchise. I look to build on my 85 win season last year and division title run.... We kick off the season with a 7 game west coast road trip. 4 gms vs. D-backs and 3 gms vs. the Padres.

      Here's starting rotation and line-up:

      Starting Rotation: No changes virtually
      1. Max Fried LHP, 20 game winner last year and Cy Young runner-up! Role changed to be an expecting "Ace"
      2. Mike Soroka RHP, altough was up & down last year, his role has changed to be an expecting "Ace"
      3. Sean Newcomb LHP, finished last year as my second best pitcher. Although only having a record of 12-9. He was durable. ERA of 2.91 in 194.2 IP
      4. Mike Foltynewicz RHP, he had 213 K's in 199.2 IP
      5. Julio Teheran RHP, He finished last year with 17 wins, but struggled during the play-off push. ERA balloon from 2.90 ish to 4.14.

      Bullpen:
LRP Jesse Biddle LHP, outstanding last yr. 2.72 ERA,59.2 IP & 67K
LRP Alex Reyes RHP, via trade from STL last year
      MRP Luke Jackson RHP
MRP Alex Claudio LHP, via trade from MIL last year. 2.16 ERA, excellent change-up
SU Corbin Clouse LHP, a hidden gem in the organization last year. Stuck in AA and a velo over 90. Closer potential..
SU Arodys Vizcaino RHP, It's simple if CL Kimbrel can't get the job done, he is capable.
CL Craig Kimbrel RHP, ERA 2.25, 127K in 80.0 IP

      Lineup:
      1. LF Ender Inciarte
      2. 2B Ozzie Albies
      3. CF Ronald Acuna Jr.
      4. 3B Nolan Arenado, via trade in the off-season w/COL
      5. 1B Matt Olson, via trade in the off-season w/OAK
      6. RF Jason Heyward
      7. C Brian McCann
      8. SS Chad Pinder
      9. Pitcher

Cardinals swept by Pirates in Pittsburgh

The Cardinals were swept by the Pirates over the weekend in Pittsburgh, as they have seen their lead over the 2nd place Cubs dwindle to 4 1/2 games.

The Cardinals bullpen was atrocious, losing the first two games after the Cardinals had late leads. The series finale, they weren't any better, but the Cardinals were already down as Michael Wacha was roughed up.

The only bright spot is that Samuel Franco extended his hitting streak to 18 games during the series.

The Cardinals are off on Monday, but they'll be back in action Tuesday night as they begin a quick 2 game mid-week series against the Royals in Kansas City.

Christian Yelich to the IL with neck sprain

Christian Yelich has been placed on the 10 day IL due to a neck sprain. Yelich reportedly injured himself in warmups prior to the game Sunday against the Pirates. Yelich is expected to miss about 2 weeks.

J.J. Bleday will be the everyday right fielder in Yelich's absence. Bleday has improved his avg to .287 in recent weeks.

Jhon Torres will be recalled from Memphis to fill the vacant roster spot.

Cardinals swept by Royals. Losing streak at 5

The Cardinals were swept in the 2 game mini series against the Royals Tuesday and Wednesday and now have lost 5 straight and have seen their divisional lead shrink to 3 games over the Cubs.

The Cardinals are just in a funk as they cannot hit, cannot get consistent pitching, and are playing poor defense, which is resulting in this current down slide.

Only bright spot again was Samuel Franco extending his hitting streak to 20 games.

Cardinals are off on Thursday as they head home to welcome the Reds for a 3 game weekend series in Busch.

Yankees Sweep 2 Games Vs Orioles, Drop 2 of 3 In Cleveland

The Twins and Indians have been the only teams to give us serious trouble this season and that continues here. We took game 1 2-1, and took a 8-7 lead into the 9th in game 2. Cleveland would tie it up off Kahnle before walking it off on Britton in the 10th. A scary scene unfolded in the 4th in that game, as Jonathan Loaisiga took a line drive to the head sending him right to the ground. Luckily it wasn’t as bad as it looked as it was later found he had only suffered a head contusion. Out 1-2 weeks.

Game 3 was the much awaited matchup of CY Young contenders Gerrit Cole and Mike Clevinger. Both would give up early solo HR’s, off the bat’s of Gary Sanchez and Lindor. The key moment would be a C Roberto Perez 2 Run HR off Cole in the 5th. We had no answer for Clevinger’s dominance as he struck out 10 and scattered 2 hits over 6.1 IP. Indians go on to win 7-4.

Tommy La Stella Breaks Hand, Likely Out For Season
More poor injury luck for us. With this, the deadline deal for La Stella goes from already looking bad to a complete bust. This likely ends La Stella’s brief forgettable run in the Bronx. Luke Voit recalled from AAA.

Next: We end August and kick off September with 3 games @ Fenway vs the 73-64 Red Sox. Rosters expand to 28 in 1 day. Our record is now at 93-43, Indians sit at 95-41.

                Thanks

We are up 3 on the Cubs and 6 1/2 on the Reds. Brewers and Pirates both 10+ back.

The Derecho/Inland Hurricane in Iowa put a damper in playing the show. I was without power for about 4 days and removed 2 ½ large trees in the backyard.

                  Jay’s Cubs Wrap Up: 2023

Cubs Tangle With Pirates and Reds

The Cubs took their frustration out on the Pirates lefty Waddel in the first game of a 3 game set in Pittsburgh as they hit 5 home runs including 2 from Baez and solos from Contreras, Amaya and Hoerner. Hoerner has struggled this year and is hitting below .220. There have been calls for limiting 2nd year man Richard Kell to get more PT at second but the Cubs’ brass have been reluctant to make a move just yet. Hoerner has tweaked his stance and opened up his hips a bit more so the cubs are hoping the small adjustments will help the infielder see some improvements. With the power surge the Cubs won easily 15 to 3 but the win came with the loss of Victor Reyes. He went down after twisting his knee diving for a ball in center field and will miss a month after damaging the cartilage in his right knee. 22 year old Rafeal Guerra will get a cup of coffee in the majors while Reyes is out. The switch hitter primarily plays 3rd but also can play 1st and the corner outfield spots - he has excelled with the Iowa Cubs hitting .327 in the young minor league season. Brennan Davis will take over duties in centerfield until Reyes gets back. Davis had primarily only played against lefties and is batting .230 so far; Reyes has only been batting .248 before his injury so this may be a chance to have Davis win the spot outright if he can improve his average.

In the middle game, the Cubs won a close one 4-3 as Kris Bryant was a double shy of a hitting for the cycle. The game marks the end of May the Cubs went 18-10 during the month and sit atop of the Central as they lead the Brewers by 2 games. Contreras and Schwarber are atop the home run standings as Schwarber has 20 so far and Contreras has 24, just 2 behind Mark Mcgwire’s pace during his 1998 season.

In the final game of the series Darvish was on the mound looking to improve on what has been a disappointing season so far, Darvish started the year strong but has struggled to get pass the 5th inning in the last few starts and has a ERA over 5. Darvish started strong in this one as he allowed one run on 2 hits through 5 innings but struggled in the 6th when he could not finish the innings before pulling after giving up 4 runs and giving up the lead. With the Pirates leading 4-3 the Cubs could not produce any more runs and ultimately fell 5-3.

The Cubs headed to Cinninnati as they played their 16th straight game without a break and it has begun to show that the squad could use a rest. The weather didn’t help as it was pouring at Great American Ball park, even though the rain did not relent the game was able get through without a stoppage. AJ Puk started the game strong but struggled in the 4th when he allowed a double to open his part of the inning then walked the next batter. The Reds took the lead with a 3 run homer next as the Cubs trailed 3-2. The Cubs were able to swing the game back in the 8th as Turner hit a 2 run double to retake the lead. Emmanuel Class was brought in for the 5 out save as he allowed no hits and struck out 2 to get the Cubs the win.

The Cubs wrapped up June going 20-5 and started July with a 57-24 record. Brewers are still lurking and are the 2nd best team in the NL. They sit at 5.5 games behind the Cubs. The Red Sox own the best record in baseball as they have 58 wins. As July got rolling the Cubs got Victor Reyes back and he has been on a tear. He was hitting .260 when he was with the IL with a MCL injury but has a 14 game hit streak and got his average up to the 290s. Brennan Davis could not capitalize on more time in the starting lineup as he still is hitting in the low 200s. Willson Contreras cooled off on his home run pace but still leads the MLB with 32 home runs entering July. Nico Hoerner has struggled this year after tweaking his stance didn’t improve results he has been benched and Richard Kell has taken over at 2nd. The Cubs will keep Nico in the show but his at bats will be limited and will mainly get in as a defensive replacement until he can find his form again. Rowan Wick has been dominate as he has been the Cubs main set up man but will have a lengthy stink on the IL after having a shoulder injury. Wick posted a 2.02 ERA.

Early in July the Brewers were the first to strike in the trade market as they gave up 3 high grade prospects for Adalberto Mondesi. Mondesi has not lived up to the hype in Kansas city but has been able to put together a solid season as he is hitting .276. The Brewers are hoping the change of scenery will help them catch Chicago for the NL Central lead.

The Cubs had 3 representatives for the summer classic as Willson Contreras and Emmanuel Class got in on the fan vote and Kris Bryant was selected as a reserve. The Cubs opened up the 2nd half of the season with a 6 game home stand against the Phillies and Diamondbacks.

                    Cardinals take series against Reds

Cardinals snapped a 6 game losing streak after winning the final two games of their weekend series against the Reds.

The Cardinals lost the series opener on Friday after they were completely shut down by A.J. Puk earning only 3 hits, scoring zero runs and only getting 4 runners on base.

Game 2 saw Josh Rogers pitch a well of a game only to have the bullpen give up the lead and send the game to extra innings. The Cardinals won the game in the 11th when C.J. McElroy drove home J.J. Bleday on a sac fly.

Game 3 saw Michael Wacha pitch a gem, but again the bullpen gave up the lead. Ryan Hensley gave up a 2 run homerun to Clint Frazier which put the Reds up 3-2 in the 7th. But in the bottom of the 7th, Yoan Moncada delivered a 2 run double with 2 outs to give the Cardinals the lead and Corey Littrell and Roberto Osuna would shut the door in the 8th and 9th.

The Cardinals will stay home and welcome the Pirates to St.Louis for a 3 game series. The two teams met about a week ago as the Pirates swept the Cardinals in Pittsburgh.

Cardinals drop 2 of 3 to Pirates

The Cardinals woes against the Pirates continue.

A week after being swept by the Pirates in Pittsburgh, the Cardinals find themselves losing another series to Pittsburgh, although this time they weren't swept.

The Cardinals just can't get out of their own way this month as they continue to either blow leads with the pen, the starter gets roughed up at of the gate, or the offense just cannot generate hits, much less runs.

Its been a trying month as the Cardinals have seen their comfortable lead in the division over the Cubs, shrink to 2 games.

The Cardinals will remain home for the weekend as they welcome the Brewers to town.

Cardinals take 2 of 3 from Brewers

The Cardinals got back to their winning ways by taking 2 of 3 from the Brewers this weekend in St.Louis.

After dropping the series opener on Friday night, the Cardinals pounded the Brewers Saturday and Sunday, outscoring the Brew Crew 13-2 over the two games. Josh Rogers pitched an absolute gem on Saturday night throwing a complete game, 2 hit shutout as he struck out a season high 14 batters.

Michael Wacha was equally impressive on Sunday, although he wouldn't get the complete game, he would get the win after throwing 7 innings allowing 2 runs, 1 earned on 6 hits. The lone earned run was via a homerun from Corey Ray.

J.J. Bleday had himself a series going 8 for 12 in the series with 2 homeruns and 7 RBI's.

The Cardinals are off on Monday before they travel to Toronto to face the Blue Jays for a quick 2 game mid-week series.

Yankees Drop 2 Of 3 At Fenway To Open September

We appear to be a hitting a bit of a slump with back to back series losses now. Bauer was torched for 5 runs over 4 IP in game 1 in what would be a 6-0 Red Sox Win. We rebounded in game 2 snapping a 3 game losing streak with a 4-2 win.
In game 3, with James Paxton cruising through the first 4 holding Boston to only 1 run the Yankees seemed in firm control of the series finale after dropping 6 runs on Eovaldi. Until Paxton imploded in the 5th allowing Boston to flip it to a 8-6 lead. Skip to the 9th, Red Sox would call on Brandon Workman up 8-7 to secure the win.

We would get the tying run on 3B and go ahead run on 2B with 1 out. Then Gleyber Torres would go down looking on a controversial call on a down and away fastball that likely was a ball. Gio Urshela would step up with the bases loaded and 2 outs after Boston intentionally walked Sanchez. Workman would get him to chase a cutter out of the zone to end it, Red Sox win 8-7.

Next: We head to Baltimore for 4 games against the 41-98 Orioles. Hopefully a chance to beat up on the worst team in MLB can get this team on a roll again. We sit at 94-45 still 8.5 games up on Toronto.

                          News:
Yankees Place Loaisiga on IL, Recall SP Domingo German
Yankees Recall RP Luis Avilan and OF/PR option Zack Granite As Rosters Expand To 28.

94-47 LA Dodgers Clinch NL West
No surprise here, with the current second place Padres sitting at 68-72, 25.5 GB. The Dodgers offense has been surprisingly average, but their elite pitching staff has lead the way. Dodger pitchers have absolutely suffocated opposing lineups all season only allowing 412 runs. Next best? Blue Jays who’ve allowed 532 runs.

Cardinals place Yoan Moncada on 10 Day IL

The Cardinals have placed 2B Yoan Moncada on the 10 Day IL after he suffered a sprained ankle in the series opener against the Blue Jays in Toronto.

Moncada is expected to miss about 2 weeks.

Chris Taylor was recalled from Memphis to fill the vacant roster spot.

Who will start at second base in Moncada's absence has yet to be determined.

Cardinals split series with Blue Jays

Cardinals and Blue Jays split their mini mid-week 2 game series. The Cardinals won on Tuesday and the Blue Jays won Wednesday afternoon.

The Cardinals took Tuesday's game behind strong pitching from Kyle Funkhouser who went 6 2/3 innings allowing 4 runs on just 3 hits, but one of those hits was a 3 run homerun from Jorge Soler that tied the game and prevented Funkhouser from getting the decision. Adam Cimber would pitch out of the pen and earn the win going 1 1/3 innings allowing just one hit along with 3 strikeouts.

Nolan Gorman would prove to the hero with a 2 run double in the Top of the 8th to put the Cards ahead for good, 6-4, in route to a 7-4 win.

Game 2 saw Jack Flaherty get thru 5 innings pretty easily, but the wheels came off in the 6th when the Jays put up 6 runs on 5 hits knocking Flaherty out of the game and handing him a loss. The Blue Jays would win this game 8-3 after the Cardinals jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one half inning.

Nolan Gorman extended his hitting streak to 11 games and J.J. Bleday accounted for all the runs with a 3 run shot in the first.

The Cardinals are off on Thursday as they travel to the windy city to face the Cubs in Wrigley for a 3 game weekend series. Huge series as the Cubs are just 2 games out of first.

CB, curious to know if the Jays have made any major additions or subtractions in your franchise?
