    TRUE TO THE BLUE
    2020 Seattle Mariners (25-39)

Around the League Thursday, June 4th, 2020
A trade involving the San Diego Padres and Chicago White Sox occurred today. The Padres acquired 2019 All-Star catcher James McCann, who has an .830 OPS in only 11 games this season, for relief pitcher Kyle Barraclough, who has struggled so far in AAA, posting an 8.16 ERA and 2.16 WHIP in 14.1 IP. McCann will likely start for the Padres, who have received dismal production behind the plate thus far from Austin Hedges and Francisco Mejia, who are slashing .170/.255/.250 in 28 games and .176/.220/.296 in 41 games, respectively. In corresponding moves, the Padres sent Mejia to AAA and the White Sox recalled their 10th overall prospect Zack Collins to assume McCann’s role as backup catcher.

Mariners Draft Recap Thursday, June 4th, 2020
1st Round (6th OVR): RHP Sean Lacey, Texas
The 19-year old Texan shows advanced command for his age, which allows him to throw strikes consistently and limit the number of walks he gives up. While he does not generate a lot of velocity from his stocky frame of 6’2” and 220 lbs, he offers a four-pitch mix including a 4-seam fastball that tops out at 92 MPH, a cutter, a changeup, and a slider. His delivery is clean and repeatable and he exhibits elite stamina which will allow him to pitch deep into games. Lacey projects as a frontline starter and should move quickly through the Mariners farm system.

2nd Round (43rd OVR): OF Won-Yong Park, South Korea
Park, at 22-years old, produces immense power from the right side of the plate. In addition, he possesses above average arm strength and speed, which enables him to play anywhere in the outfield. He has an aggressive playstyle which may result in a lot of strikeouts and injuries, but if he can refine his approach, he will produce All-Star numbers.

3rd Round (78th OVR): RHP Antwan Riley, California
Riley wields a devastating pitch-mix consisting of a 4-seamer, slurve, 2-seamer, changeup, and curveball. His 4-seam and 2-seam fastballs regularly touch 97 MPH and 94 MPH, respectively, while his slurve is thrown 10 MPH slower than his primary fastball and his changeup and curve are thrown 10 MPH slower than his secondary. The speed disparity between his offerings coupled with his above-average control result in elite strikeout potential. The 21-year old’s stamina could be considered above-average for a reliever or below-average for a starter, but the Mariners may envision him as a late-inning, high-leverage reliever, where his swing-and-miss stuff will flourish.

4th Round (107th OVR): IF Vicente Hernandez, Venezuela
Hernandez is a bat-first prospect who, at 20 years-old, has plenty of time for his glove to catch up, wherever that may be. A shortstop by trade, his weak arm and subpar fielding abilities are somewhat mitigated by his blazing speed. Whether he plays middle-infield, or even center field, his advanced contact ability, approach, and base-stealing prowess profile him as a classic leadoff hitter whenever he can reach the big leagues.

5th Round (137th OVR): C Billy Huff, Illinois
The antithesis of a bat-first prospect, Huff’s value lies solely in his glove, where he already possesses elite reflexes, arm strength, blocking, and fielding abilities behind the plate. At 20-years old, the switch-hitting Huff has plenty of time for his lesser tools to catch up to his more advanced ones. If his bat never improves, Huff may still enjoy a long career as a defensive-minded catcher.

6th Round (167th OVR): LHP Edgar Palmeiro, Dominican Republic
A big southpaw at 6’4” and 228 lbs, Palmeiro will not overpower hitters with his 93 MPH 4-seam fastball, but will limit contact due to the well above-average break on his 79 MPH sweeping curve, 84 MPH changeup, and 85 MPH slider. The 21-year old projects as a back of the rotation starter who can pitch a lot of innings.

Cardinals go 16-12 in May, still lead the NL Central

The Cardinals (35-22) compiled a 16-12 record in the month of May and still maintain a 5 game lead over the 2nd place Reds in the National League Central Division.

The month started rough losing 3 of their first 4 games, but the Cardinals settled in and finished the month by winning 7 of their last 10. The month saw a lineup and rotation change as Eddie Ortiz has been moved into the lineup as the everyday right fielder and Michael Wacha was again added to the rotation, as he replaced an injured Dakota Hudson and maintained that rotation spot upon Hudson's return.

The Cardinals also saw their bullpen become more solid over the month as they added Ryan Helsley who replaced Wacha and Jordan Hicks found his groove and pitched much better this month and has again taken his place as the setup man to Roberto Osuna.

Speaking of Osuna he is a perfect 12 for 12 in save opportunities and along with the now steady Jordan Hicks and Tyler Jay has formed a very formidable back end of the bullpen.

The Cardinals do have a strong question mark at 2nd base as Kolten Wong continues to struggle and the Cardinals announced about a week ago that they would entertain offers for the 35 year old. The Cards are hopeful he'll find his old form, but it appears time may be running out. If a change is made, the Cardinals will likely look to an outside source as Tommy Edman has struggled while getting more time starting at 2nd base and Devin Mann may not quite be ready for major league pitching.

Still the Cardinals have to feel good that they are leading the division despite the struggles of Wong, Brendan McKay, and Harrison Bader. If they can get those 3 guys going, the Cardinals could lead this division from now until the end.

But with only 57 games completed, there is a lot of baseball that is left to be played.

      June Schedule

      2 vs CHC
      3 vs COL
      3 vs CIN
      4 @ MIA
      3 @ BOS

        Jay’s Cubs Wrap Up: 2022

Hendricks Faces off against Grienke in Game 2

The Stros had their ace on the mound as Houston looked to bounce back from a game they thought they could have stolen from Chicago. Hendricks has struggled this postseason but has improved with each outing. The Cubs knew they would need a strong start from Hendricks but that was not in the cards. While he was able to get through the first inning quickly, the pitcher had to leave the game in the 2nd with 1 out with a hand injury. AJ Puk came in and was able to pick up where Hendricks left off. The game was a pitcher's duel and scoreless until the 4th Yurriel was able to score Bregman. Greinke toyed with the cubs batters as they only could muster one hit one the day. Grienke pitched into the 8th and could have gone for the complete game but the Houston manager decided to bring in the fresh arm of Osuna to work the 9th. The Cubs were not the late inning magic that they had the night before as the closer worked a 1-2-3 9th and Game 2 went to Houston 1-0. After the game it was announced that Hendricks season is done as he will miss at least a week with a blister on his pitching hand. Youngster Brailyn Marquez will be added to the roster and may be counted on to start a game if series goes long.

B]Fall Classic Moves to Houston for Game 3
        [/B]

Darvish was slated to pitch in game three against Griffin Canning. On the day off much of the talk was about how Darvish imploded when he was on this stage with the Dodgers. In two starts in the ‘17 World Series Davish lasted only 3.1 innings while giving up 8 runs. Many felt he was tipping his pitches but with the 2019 sign stealing scandal many questioned if Houston’s dominance of Darvish was legit. The Cubs were able to get on the board first as Bryant got on and then with 2 outs Javy hit a two run shot to get the early 2-0 lead. Darvish came out and left no doubt that he was ready to go as he struck out the side in the first. The Cubs were able to add another in the 2nd when Ian Happ went yard for the 3-0 lead. Houston had a chance to get on the board in the 3rd after a runner go on. Korey Lee added another hit and looked to get a rally going but Bryant, playing in left, was able to scoop up the hit and gun the runner down to end the inning.

After a scoreless 3rd inning the Cubs expanded their lead to 5-0 as Bryant hit a 2 run shot. The Astros responded as Yuli Gurriel hit a 2 run double to get the Astros back in it. The Cubs responded in the 5 to add their 6 runs of the game that ended Griffin Canning’s day. The Houston pitcher was only able to go 4 innings while he gave up 6 runs on 11 hits. The Cubs would add a pair of runs in the 7th and 8th as went took game 3 deceively 8-2. Darvish was able to scatter 6 hits in 6 innings of work while striking out 5 as Chicago moved to 2 games to 1.

        Game 4

The Cubs had Oscar Colas on the mound to face Jose Urquidy. Colås wasn’t full strength due to playing the field in previous games but the Cubs went with the big lefty and asked him to give them as many innings as he could. Urquidy looked to even the series and has an impressive postseason as he has a 1.8 ERA in 17 innings of work. Houston struck first on a Gurriel home run but the Cubs were able to even it on a solo shot by Kyle Schwarber. Both teams scored in the 4th as the game was deadlocked at 2. Colås was able to grind out 5 innings for the Cubs as he gave up 2 runs and struck out 4. The Cubs were able to set him up to the the potential winner of the game as they Ian Happ got the Cubs 2 on a 2 run homerun that ended Urquidy’s day. The Houston pitcher was able to go 5.2 innings and struck out 7. Brailyn Marquez came in for the Colås and pitched 2 solid innings of scoreless baseball.
The Cubs were able to expand their lead to 6 in the 8th. Houston could not get anything going to make up the lead as they were dominated by the Cubs pen. With the score 6-2, Chicago took advantage of 2 walks and a single to to load the bases with no outs. The Cubs would go on to score 7 in the top of the 9th to put the game away including Schwarber's 2nd home run of the game. With the game in hand Yovanny Cruz was able to seal it with a scoreless 9th as the cubs won in a laugher 13 to 2. With the 3-1 lead, Chicago is one win away from capturing their second title in as many years.

I might be in the wrong place to ask this question, sorry if I am. I’m very new to this game and I started a franchise with the D’backs, I’m still in pre season and I’d like to take control of another franchise too, is that possible or does it have to happen before in the option when you initially start the franchise mode? Thank you for any help you can give me.

When you're picking your team on that list theres a thing that check marks the team you select. Just choose another team after choosing the Dbacks

Thank you. Does this have to happen before you start your franchise or can I select another team to use during franchise?

Thats why you ALWAYS run a 30-team franchise. Even if you just want to control one team, just set every other team to CPU. I honestly cant think of one negative to running a 30-team 'chise.

You can't use GM contracts in 30-team control. You basically get handed a lifetime contract with zero repercussions for anything you do, which makes the mode too easy.

                        Jay’s Cubs Wrap Up: 2022

Game 5: Cubs Look to end Series in Houston

For Game 5 Verlander looked to close out the series as Roglio Armenteros took the mound for Houston. Verlander is not quite recovered from game 1 of the series but will start the game and give the Cubs all he has. Verlander looks to earn another ring. The 38 year old was weighing retirement before signing with the Cubs; If he does decide to hang it up there would be no better way to go out with his final game by earning another ring. Javy Baez was able to give the pitcher the lead with a 2 run hit that put the Cubs up 2-0. Baez would have a solid day as he would end up going 3 for 5.
                        <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/LccvEKufxsk" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Verlander was not able to reproduce the same results at the game as Houston was able to get to him in the 2nd inning as Alex Bregman hit the first of 2 home runs on the day and Gurriel added a solo shot to make it 3-2 Astros. Not to be out done. Schwarber was able to add 2 on a blast to right field.

Verlander wouldn’t make it past the 4th as he went for 3.1 innings; while he did have 5ks he also walked 2 and gave up 5 runs on 8 hits as. The 3 inning nearly resulted in disaster as Verlander found himself in trouble with 1 out, a Straw single had a man on first but the Cubs were able to get on but the arm of Contreras was able to get nailing the speedster trying to steal 2nd.

                        <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/mlrGCRnXAgg" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Bregman homered in the 4th to recapture the lead and end Verlander’s day. Kyle Ryan game in with 1 out and was able to retire the side. The Cubs responded as they batted in 2 in the 2nd to make the score 6-5. The Cubs went with their lefty reliever as Ryan was able to stay in the game pitching 2 ⅔ perfect innings.

The Cubs added to their lead as they plated 1 in the 7th and 8th to make it 8-5. In the 8th Carl Edwards came in but his perfect postseason as Houston was able to cut the lead to 2 runs. The Cubs could not add any in the top of the 9th as they clung to the 8-6 lead as Kimbrel came in the bottom of the 9th with Chicago 3 outs away from capturing their second title. Kimbrel had his stuff as he was able to quickly get 2 outs. Yordan Álvarez was Houston’s last shot at extending the series but Kimbrel was able to get the strikeout to end it. They distraught Astro fans in attendance could only sit and watch as the Cubs celebrate their 2nd championship and 3rd in 8 years. The Cubs are the first team to repeat as champions since Yankees won 3 in a row from 1998-2000.

Schwarber was named Most Valuable Player for the World Series as he went .444 with 3 home runs and 7 RBI’s in the 5 game series.

Yankees Win 3 Of 4 Vs Angels, Take First 2 Games Vs Boston. Record now at 68-35.

After dropping game 1 vs LA 1-0 in extra innings the Yankees went on to win the next 3 by scores of 5-4, 5-2, and 4-1. In his Yankee Stadium debut as a Yankee Trevor Bauer would toss 5 innings of 1 run ball racking up 9K’s along the way. Then to start off a 3 game set with the Red Sox we took game 1 5-4 thanks to a walkoff solo HR from Clint Frazier in the bottom of the 9th. Frazier was pinch hitting for light hitting utility man Tyler Wade.

Yankees Interested In Mets RP Dellin Betances?
Betances’s value has taken a big hit as he’s been hit around to a 4.46 ERA and 1.46 WHIP over 42.1 IP in 2020, looking nothing like the weapon he was for years out of the Yankee bullpen. At age 32 coming off an injury filled year where he pitched just 0.2 IP, that’s not a good sign. He’s also on an expiring contract. Sitting at 41-64 the Mets find themselves in the middle of a lost season so they’ll most likely be open to offers on a struggling veteran RP.

Next up: We go for the sweep against Boston followed by a day off. Then it’s 2 game at Citi Field taking on the Mets before heading off to Boston for 4 games. That 2 game series with the Mets kicks off with a must see matchup of Yankees Ace Gerrit Cole taking on Mets Ace Jacob DeGrom.

The Red Sox look to be looking towards next season with this move as Taillon won’t help the current Boston squad as he’s on the shelf for 2020 due to TJ. But watch out for the Sox in 2021 as Sale and Taillon return from injury.

In return they receive prospects SS Raynel Delgado and SP Kirk McCarty. Brasier is in the middle of a great year with a 2.86 ERA and 1.27 WHIP over 50 IP. Boston sits 15 games out of the AL East and 8 games out of the WC so they’ll cash in on Brasier’s performance and add to their farm system as they look towards next year.

Just started a 2020 (full 2020 schedule) season as Miami Marlins GM, Brock West. So far 4-2 on the young season. Made an attempt to get as close as possible to a “potential” 2020 starting lineup. Used Roster Resource as my guide. Also using Ridin post draft roster and Armor sliders. Will update as important milestones are reached. Hope you enjoy!

                                Cardinals swept by Pirates

The Cardinals were swept by the Pirates to start the month of June in St.Louis.

The Cardinals only managed to score 4 runs over the 3 games as their offensive struggles continue. The lone bright spot of the series was Nolan Gorman who went 7 for 12 in the series driving in 3 of the 4 runs the Cards pushed across during the series. Kolten Wong, Harrison Bader, and Brendan McKay continue to struggle with the bat as they combined to be hitless the entire series.

The Cardinals pitching staff continues to be one of the best in the majors as they continue to keep the team in games despite the poor offensive production. The Cardinals are 2nd in the majors in ERA and WHIP and 6th in strikeouts.

The Cardinals will look to quickly bounce back Monday night as they start a quick two game series against the struggling Blue Jays in Busch Stadium.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(
