Re: MLB The Show 20: Fictional Franchise Progress Thread

It was another case of a team needing a win and dominating en route to one. The New Jersey Kekambas (66-58) pulled to within 1.0 of the Wild Card thanks to a 9-3 victory over the Jacksonville Elite (51-72). They did so behind three runs in the 2nd and five in the 3rd that blew the game wide open.

    W: Jesus Dominguez (10-5, 3.93 ERA) 6.0IP, 3 ER, 6K
    L: Dustin Wise (11-7, 3.49 ERA) 2.1IP, 6 ER, 0K

    NJ - Alfonso Rosado 2-4, HR (16), 5 RBI (58), 2B (17), 2 R (47), BB (70)
    NJ - Timmy Alexander 2-3, RBI (55), 2 2B (21), 2 R (53), 2 BB (47)
    JAX - Ramon Ramirez 2-4, RBI (69), 2B (14)

Re: MLB The Show 20: Fictional Franchise Progress Thread

Finished season 1 of my Athletics franchise (fantasy draft) with an MLB-best 109-53 record, 13 games ahead of the Angels for the AL West title. This season was full of ups and downs and unpredictable moments/stretches, but this was the first time in a long time where I played every single game of a season in any sports game and thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks Bacon!

Starting pitcher Vince Cartwright won both the Cy Young and AL MVP due to his 24-4 record, 1.45 ERA, 320 Ks and 10 complete games. He was a beast for me this season and I knew I could always count on 8 innings and 10 strikeouts per start. He was the All-Star Game starter but took the loss.

CF Bryce Lewis and Gordon Landry of the Blue Jays finished the regular season tied for the AL batting title with a .346 average. However, Landry ended up winning the batting title at .348 because his team and the Yankees played each other in a Game 163 for the last Wild Card spot. Lewis led MLB in hits (212), runs (132), and stolen bases (71).

A's All-Stars: Cartwright, Lewis, C Dale Richards, DH King Hitter, RP Percy Denson, CP Brent Stevens

Postseason began with a 3-0 sweep of the Angels in the ALDS. The Angels beat the Blue Jays in the Wild Card round. On the other side of the bracket, the Orioles beat the White Sox (second-best record in MLB) in five games.

In the ALCS, Baltimore came into Oakland and took down Cartwright in Game 1 and destroyed us in Game 2. Staring a sweep in the face, we rallied to tie the series but got blown out 11-0 in the Game 5 thanks to some Oriole (forgot his name) with 44 power and 60 contact who hit 2 HRs and had 7 RBI.

Cartwright took the hill for Game 6 with the season on the line, but he ran out of gas in the 6th inning. The bullpen, which was kind of a problem all season, held together and we tied the series with a 3-0 win.

In Game 7, the bats finally came alive and we cruised to a 10-2 win to get to the World Series, where we will take on the Dodgers!

Things were going so well for the Orlando Dreamers (72-52) for most of the season. However, they recently fell into a slide that allowed the Washington Eagles to pass them in the standings. They still hold the Wild Card lead and added to it with a 4-2 win over the Phoenix Roadrunners (48-77). Orlando went up 2-0 in the 2nd on a home run single. They added two more in the 6th before giving up two in the 7th. Phoenix threatened and got the go-ahead run to the plate that inning but were kept off the scoreboard again.

          W: Jack Withenshaw (10-5, 4.26 ERA) 6.1IP, 2ER, 7K
          L: Javier Rivas (9-10, 5.06 ERA) 5.0IP, 4ER, K
          S: Eric Lynn (31) 1.0IP, 0ER, K

          ORL: Rico Infante 1-4, HR (11), RBI (37), R (33)
          ORL: Nate Painter 3-4, R (78)
PHX: Akinori Yamazaki 1-3, RBI (20), BB (16)

Kicked off an LAD franchise w/ the updated fictional roster and won game one in 17 innings 1-0, lol. Rain game, battle of the aces, and a dead ball until Hank Harvey banged an RBI double into the RF gap to get Chris Redd home for the walk-off win.

I used every P in my pen but one to get that one, and Stu McKinley wound up with the W after pitching 5.1 in relief. I REALLY hope I get a quality start out of my #2 guy next game.

Well I still could not make up my mind. So I set up an Offseason mode with all of the teams I was thinking about. I have always considered the theory that when confronted with multiple choices if you flip a coin you will think in that split second "boy I hope ............... wins" and that is the one you really want. Sure enough as soon as I started simming the games. I started cheering every time the Brewers won. Amazingly enough they actually did win the PostSeason against Texas.

So long story short, yes I know too late, I will be starting my long term (please don't restart for the 300th time) franchise with the Brewers. House rules to follow.

Good luck with the Brewers I have a decent interleague rivalry going with them. Always a good battle when I come up against them in my Padres franchise.

Talk about a big game in Chicago. The two Central Division leaders in their respective leagues, the Hitmen (78-54) and the Voodoo (75-59) did battle in a huge interleague game. New Orleans took a 2-0 lead in the first that Chicago immediately evened up. They then fell behind 4-2 in the rd but chipped away. A single run in the 5th brought them within one before scoring three in the 6th on an Andrew Norris pinch hit homer to pull ahead for good.

                    W: Marty Malenkon (13-9, 3.88 ERA) 6.0IP, 3 ER, 7K
                    L: Ryan Walker (13-7, 4.55 ERA) 5.0IP, 5 ER, 5K
                    S: James Brandon (37, 3.17 ERA) 1.0IP, 0 ER, K

                    CHI: Gregorio Ortiz 2-4 (league best .354), HR (15), RBI (72), R (75), SB (22)
                    CHI: Andrew Norris 1-1, HR (12), 3 RBI (30), R (25)
                    NO: Chase Parker, 1-4, HR (25), 2 RBI (84), 2 R (72)

I recently faced off against the Savannah Sand Gnats and found they have a formidable 3-4 punch of Isaac White and Clinton Lake! They also have Hiroki Nakamura in the leadoff spot to help set the table. Also included a pic of the Savannah Sand Gnats logo on the field because it looks cool (not my creation...I found all my logos in the Vault).

Last two pics are of speedster Bryce Lewis of the Death Valley Vipers. First AB and he rockets one into the corner and was off to the races.

I hosted a 4-game set against the Nashville Blue Jeans, who have really been struggling early in the season. Even though we entered the series with a 16-9 record to their 6-20, we had to come from behind each of the first two games and won both via a walkoff. The first was a walkoff HR by cleanup hitter Matt Peterson, while the second was a basehit into RF by Jorge Veras to drive in the winning run. The fact that slugger Derrick Shaw has been injured hasn't helped Nashville, but his return in the series finale helped them salvage a win.

It took five intense games, but the Oakland A’s defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers to win the 2020 World Series.

Game 1: Oakland had to start Eddy Diaz with ace Vince Cartwright and 19-game winner Marty Stark still resting from a grueling ALCS. Diaz pitched 7 solid innings and gave up only 2 runs, but the A’s offense only had 5 hits, left 11 on base, and scored zero runs in the 2-0 loss.

Game 2: Marty Stark pitched into the 8th inning and had a 2-0 lead, but Drew Larson’s 2-run bomb tied the score. It remained 2-2 until the 11th when Reggie Kellogg walked with two outs, went to second on a passed ball and scored on King Hitter’s single to right for the walkoff win.

Game 3: Cartwright got the start in Los Angeles, and he and the Dodgers pitchers engaged in a 0-0 pitcher’s duel that almost ended in the bottom of the 9th. Reliever Anthony Richards walked power hitter Avery Phillips to start the inning and he went to second on Jay Leary’s sacrifice bunt. Marco Ortiz struck out, sending Karl Price to the plate. Price smoked a single to center and Phillips was waved to the plate for the walkoff … but Bryce Lewis’ throw to home was perfect and Phillips was tagged out to end the inning. In the top of the 12th, Hitter broke the scoreless tie with a line drive homer to left. Closer Brent Stevens got two quick outs, walked two, but then got a pop up to save the 1-0 game.

Game 4: The A’s hitters finally broke out, smacking 13 hits to back William Manning’s 7 shutout innings. King Hitter continued his great series with 3 hits and 3 RBI in the 6-0 win.

Game 5: Oakland was forced to go with Nicky Cicirelli to start the potential clincher. He’d been shelled just about all season long, including allowing all 11 runs in the Game 5 ALCS loss at Baltimore. Somehow, the big guy held it together and pitched a gem and even came through with an RBI double. The A’s grabbed a 4-0 lead heading into the 9th, but Stevens gave up a triple to Homer Webster, who scored on an RBI groundout by Bradley Williams. Stevens settled down and struck out the side to give Oakland the WS win!

King Hitter was named Postseason MVP and World Series MVP.

                          Offseason notes to come!

That was a close game. For about two innings. The St. Louis Archers (73-63) held their Wild Card lead with a 14-1 thrashing over the Jacksonville Elite (56-79). It started simply enough with a 2-0 first inning lead before Jacksonville got a run back in the bottom half thanks to a Michael Mayfield homer. It fell apart by the 3rd. St. Louis added 4, 3, 3, and 2 to crush the Elite.

                            W: Carson Dent (10-7, 3.31 ERA) 9.0IP, ER, 11K, 3H
                            L: Christopher Reed (7-7, 4.83 ERA) 3.0IP, 7 ER, 2K

                            STL: Orlando Blanco 3-5, HR (11), 3 RBI (60), 3 R (78), SB (16)
                            STL: Martin Zimecki 2-4, 3 RBI (60), 2 R (66), 2 2B (19)

King Hitter (renamed Solomon King in my chise) just hit the farthest HR ive seen so far measuring at 480ft!

EDIT: Not sure what is going on at Laughing Mountain Stadium, home of the Utah Hornets, but Avery Phillips just went 489ft!!! IN THE SAME GAME! Note: only a 4mph wind out to right center.

EDIT AGAIN: It must be Laughing Mountain, in game 3 of the series, King Hitter hit a 485ft bomb. The 3 farthest homeruns ive witnessed have been in this 3 game series there.

It's the highest elevated park in the game. Coors on steroids. A lot of quirky things happen there. Play a game at Shibe(I think), which is right at sea level, and you'll be able to quickly see the difference.

Edit: LM is just lower than Coors and Shibe is 20 feet above sea level but I think they have the most dramatic elevation effects in the game. Here's a whole list
