So I hope to be very pleasantly surprised (ability to import rosters on PS5 version of the game from MLB 20 PS4?) with meaningful and impactful franchise mode updates.

    We shall see.
    I have plenty of expectations...

    1. That MtO will be the focus of this stream with little "oh yeah, we added this to franchise too". I doubt they spend more than 1 min discussing franchise mode and it will be incredibly vague statements like (updated AI or improved interface).
    2. That they will reference the "Rewards" for MtO about 5 times (with the "Don't forget to watch our stream in two weeks to find out more")
    3. That everything will be geared around making the experience shorter. God forbid that people actually have to play the game
    4. That we will not receive an answer about roster share from MLBTS20 until the game actually drops.
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

I agree with all these. It doesn't give too much hope when they combine franchise with MTO. Since Road to the Show had these big changes and it had it's own show. I sure hope I'm wrong. But they have been showing more love to MTO than Franchise.

Watch there be no videos or articles this week, just the stream on Thursday... Would just be our luck since it's Franchise week.

Re: MLB The Show 21: Five Things We Want From Franchise Mode

This stream dictates whether or not I entertain the idea of getting The Show anytime soon, if at all this year. I already bought OOTP 22. If franchise mode hasn't been updated with notable improvements then I'll just wait for the game to go on sale if I do decide to get it.

Right now I'm not really leaning towards getting the game at all. Some nice updates, especially to the AI will at least push me towards buying it on a sale. Significant upgrades would push me towards paying full-price at or near launch. Hardly any improvement to the mode and I'll be happy playing OOTP all baseball season. The only thing The Show has an advantage over OOTP is being able to play the games out myself. Everything else OOTP does better, so for someone like me who is more of a GM player and less of a sticks guy anymore, I won't be missing out if SCEA doesn't make The Show worth purchasing this year.

I would love to buy both games each year, but SCEA's priorities over the recent years have not aligned with mine as well as they used to. Fortunately baseball has options unlike the NFL where we are stuck with Madden and nothing else. I'm appreciative to be able to have OOTP as a rock to lean on each year while I decide on The Show.

10 years ago this would have been the week I was most excited for. But if the last five years have taught me anything, this week will not live up to expectations. I have zero, and I mean zero hype for this weeks stream. Then again I wasn’t expecting full minors and was pleasantly surprised.

I still use your recruiting and coach progression template for NCAA 14 - thanks for producing that.

Regarding roster share it appears it won't happen for mlbts 21 and if that's the case my decision on whether to buy the game depends on whether they say carry over saves will return in 2022. The days of having to blow up my franchise and start over are gone for me. I'd love to have the stadium creator but not at the expense of being limited to a one year franchise.

Since teams can have as many as 9 man pens, I really hope AI bullpen logic was re-worked because otherwise bullpen use could be an even bigger issue this year, with more guys not getting used.

While I am doubtful about roster share in 21 from 20 I do want to make a comment on it.

If I remember correctly, it was never announced it was going to be in 20. It just popped up on one of the streams and we just screen shotted it if I remember correctly. Maybe they said something after it popped up on the screen but it wasn't made a big deal of.

My point is, I don't think they are going to announce whether it is in or not because it was never announced for 20.

From the look of the RTTS stream, there were no new attributes added so even though I am not holding my breath for it, I don't think we can come to a conclusion about whether it is in or not for 21. I think it is smart for roster makers to hold off on their work as a precaution though.

Simply because they never made a fuss about it in 20. It was just there.

There is no chance they increase roster size or fix anything I want in franchise this year as the adding and removing of the word revamped spoke more than any blog they will release.

Just my two cents on roster share.

They asked for franchise questions back in February so a Q&A video seems pretty likely tomorrow.

Not the point to start a debate on this here but i strongly disagree i have been playIng online franchise only in madden since 2004.
I actually think the current system is the best they ever had and better than 2k or nhl or tge show currently

                          I.e
a- You gain xp by performing in game and practices
b- Coach matter in practice through perks
c- You choose which groups get xp by selecting practices
d- your scheme influences practice xp
e- thanks to xp players get progression which you actually understands and can track weekly (i.e it is transparent and user friendly)
f- player progression traits impacts progression (ie not all players get same progression)
g- there is an element of randomness with the points acquired which prevents obvious issues like facing a team with a full 90s bsh front 7

All of that for me seems really good
                          I mean REALLY good
And i wish it would be used as benchmark for other sports games starting by the show

Get ready for editing the organizational depth chart and that’s it. We are in for a let down if we are expecting any of these features. Franchise is clearly not the priority for this game. So many minor details like non roster invitees have been missing for years now, there is no indication based on the direction of this game that franchise will change much from what we have been given these past 5 years..

Hope I’m wrong but let’s talk after Thursday lol
