Re: MLB The Show 21: Five Things We Want From Franchise Mode
I've searched here but I honestly don't remember where I read/heard that. Maybe I'm mistaken?I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: MLB The Show 21: Five Things We Want From Franchise Mode
Been losing the positive thinking and just leaning towards trusting SDS recent track record instead. The way they quickly pulled the word ‘revamped’ once they saw it caught some attention and started getting people excited is a bad sign from the start.
My guess on the kind of way it’s gonna go: Franchise/MTO stream will be a shorter one, maybe 1-2 things (nothing huge like expanded rosters) to show off , then the rest (half or most) of the stream time goes to MTO.
Hopefully this post ages horribly but that’s where I’m at now, I mean EA didn’t suddenly change their approach to franchise mode because they just randomly decided it was important and they felt bad for franchise players. The community stepped up and put some pressure on them to do something.Last edited by Rocket32; 03-11-2021, 05:13 PM.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 21: Five Things We Want From Franchise Mode
It will be what we have had at 90.
Again....cross console is what nerfed Y2Y at least for this year. All the talk it held back being able to improve franchise mode is bunk until proven otherwise.
My biggest hope was because they are expanding rosters and re-doing the core coding of franchise mode due to roster expansion.
LOL knew that was a long shot....but again hope to be proven wrong. I mean think about it. All the talk is about speeding up the game, getting through seasons in 18 hours....adding more players? More prospects to manage?
Come on folks...let's see what is really going on and know that almost all improvements are about streamlining not “expanding” franchise mode.
Being real about it.
I love the game. But I don’t expect much in terms of franchise mode improvements. I see the opposite actually. I see things going into a more simplistic direction vs more complex.
And like I was posting about before, I rather see a lot more improvement with the on field experience inside franchise mode since those of us in that “niche" group of playing almost every game (in my case all 162) would love far more dynamic stats of the season popping up and keeping us engaged with other teams as we play them. It is such a huge immersion thing to see historical matchups, splits, current streaks, talk about injuries, trades, players coming up through he minors, more of that inside the game while playing...much more of that and franchise will only be better for it.
VS endless menus screens and spreadsheets. This is not a text sim. What needs to be done off the diamond is core AI lineup, drafting, trade, team building logic and expanded rosters would go a long way to helping that!!!
So we wait......and wait.....and wait lol.
Maybe next year......sigh.
Let’s hope for some surprises on the franchise stream April 1st.
Looking forward to tonights first stream. It is always an exciting time with new MLB The Show news regardless of what it is.Last edited by Armor and Sword; 03-11-2021, 05:17 PM.Now Playing on PS5:

Re: MLB The Show 21: Five Things We Want From Franchise Mode
If I am going to add anything, I would like to see a scouting/draft overhaul. I do not like the idea of prospects not existing/being created until I search for that specific type of player. Just seems lazy to me, idk.Comment

We already know the PS5 version of 21 isn't the same as PS4 version, so I doubt the files will be interchangeable.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 21: Five Things We Want From Franchise Mode
So people speculating it's gone because of changes to franchise is bunk. But you speculating it's gone because of cross-platform isn't, until it's proven to be bunk.

Re: MLB The Show 21: Five Things We Want From Franchise Mode
It has been said numerous times by the development team, that there simply is not enough space for more than 90 man rosters on the PS4 version of the game. With everything they have on the game it simply won’t fly. Some people think Y2Y held back expanded rosters.....it did not do so on the PS4. Also and I am no game developer....let’s say it was possible....they would have had to tear down franchise mode and rebuild it (I assume).
So if you are able to upload your PS4 franchise to the cloud and download it to the PS5 version.....then you can’t expect more than 90 man rosters with these factors I just mentioned.
And the hope is that Y2Y being removed was a sign that rosters were being expanded. I still think it will be the same. We will see. All questions will be answered when the game drops.Last edited by Armor and Sword; 03-13-2021, 06:44 PM.Now Playing on PS5:

Re: MLB The Show 21: Five Things We Want From Franchise Mode
truth be told, it's probably a combination of new platforms and something new in franchise is what's halted Y2Y saves. if the Studio only had one of those challenges they might've been able to overcome and keep Y2Y going for another year
that's obviously speculative from me, just what I'm guessing at the moment. but if I had to lean one way or the other, I'd think new platforms was the issue. we'll know soon enough. April 16 getting closer by the hourOSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23
