I've looked for the answer to this question, but I haven't been able to find it. Will MLB The Show 21 have multi player online franchises as an option?

Custom Leagues was introduced on MLB 20.

That is their multi player online league option.

It is not a fully fleshed out “online franchise” mode per say. But that is the answer to your question.

I'm really hoping for the best.

The decision SDS made to have the franchise mode stream on opening day I hope is telling the mode is getting good love. Thatd look pretty bad if the stream was underwhelming on opening day.

I also am hoping since they've changed up RTTS as much as they have it forced them to get rid of Y2Y save for the year.

This makes me believe franchise has been updated enough to not really allow a Y2Y save carry over.

Re: MLB The Show 21: Five Things We Want From Franchise Mode

heres my yearly wish list. doubt i will get any of them. haven't played in a couple years now so maybe some things have been added. but this is my dream list.

Being almost a strictly franchise gamer, here is a few things I'd love to see:

-HISTORICAL CRITICAL MOMENTS. My main one I'd love to see that I think would change franchise mode experience for lots of players. Now that critical moments are in the game, I would LOVE to see an ability to play super rare historical critical moments for every team in the franchise. When a player is nearing 500, 600, 700 homeruns, 3000 hits, a strikeout record, hitting-streak record, etc. This makes the entire franchise feel more genuine and immersive, and gives you a reason to go checkout another team for a game or two rather than just roll with yours the entire time. In-game records would be great too, approaching 20 K's in a game and you can watch or play and drive the record home.

-One of my other main things is the feel of the end of games. They should mix it up and have more than just one ending presentation. The player of the game card thing is outplayed and old, and you'd never really see that in real game. Just a nice highlight combo package would be great, similar to what 2K does, and have it fade to black, and then bring up the screen where you can go box scores, etc. In the playoffs, this should be totally different. For example after winning a world series you see the dramatic cut scene, and then it goes right to a player of the game card animation with the announcer in a very monotone voice. Just feel like with baseball you have so many games, so you see so many endings.

-Ability to see how each player has done against the starting pitcher you are facing in the lineup editor screen. This puts you more into the managerial position to maybe put in a guy on the bench who has crushed this pitcher in the past, and give someone who has struggled a day off. They always mention these stats in the game when the batter is up, so the data already exists.

-ATMOSPHERE. This is one of the things I think is lacking in the game. Way more dugout interaction, celebrations not just for homeruns. Just making the game feel true to the sport, and making the players more life like with their emotions. Obviously super ramped up come Sept/Oct/Nov.

-4 to 6 pitcher rotations. Should be an easy thing to code. You literally just select what style you want to run in pitching rotation menu, and it translates to the played game pitcher selection screen and sim.

-Curtain calls, when a starter goes deep into the game, does a great job, and is removed...Having the crowd give a standing applause as he walks to the dugout. Maybe tips his cap. Those are the moments that make you feel the game is real.

-I always loved what NCAA Football did with recruiting, making it a mini-game in itself. Doing something fun with Free Agency would be nice to see. Ability to persuade a free agent, pitch your city, franchise, etc. More than just offering a deal and seeing a meter at the top of the screen. They have all of the morale features, why not use them a little more and have some fun with it?

-I always loved in High Heat Baseball how a random rainout would come into play forcing a double header. This would be one of those fun little things franchise players get excited about.

-I know a lot of guys have been begging for an update to online franchise. If it is updated, I feel like this is a mode I would play a lot with my friends.

-Rotating interleague schedules. This is something a lot of the longer term franchise players have been asking for.

-The loading screen before a game. Adding more to this, maybe spotlight matchup or a pick to click type of deal. (A hitter who has crushed a pitcher before).

-Better AI Roster Management. Call ups/downs, lineups, etc.

-If you won a world series last year, on your home opener, have a big cut scene celebration. This is done in NHL, or at least used to be.

-Making the post season feel much larger. The towels are a great start. Now find other ways to reward us for playing a full season. Maybe new scorebug?

-Love in NBA 2K when you are in a certain part of the year (Halloween, Christmas, Thanksgiving), having the game feel as if it was played during that time. I love the pink gear on mothers day, the blue on fathers day, etc. Maybe go further with some baseball holidays (July 4th, etc).

-Ability to see holidays on the calendar. (Mothers Day, Fathers Day, July 4th, Memorial Day). The game already does some fun uniforms and such during these days, so it'd be fun to even have a tiny asterisk letting us know, so we don't sim over it.

-During the first month of the year, when you face an opponent in the first game of the series, showing their key losses/additions from last year would be cool. Having announcers talk about it for a sec. That could be a cool moment.

-Loved the old features from around MLB 12. Bobblehead nights and other promo's you could do on certain games. Setting up a campaign to try and get some of your players on the all star team, setting prices for certain products, etc.

-Catcher snap throws back to the bag // Catcher Relevance overall. I feel like its becoming a little more common for catchers with rocket arms such as Yadier Molina(more so back in the day), Wilson Contreras types to fire back at the bag. As of now I've never seen it in the game, at least not done when you can even get someone close. The catcher is an extremely important defensive position, would love to make that more important when playing the game.

That is a long lost and 90% of it will not be in 21.

Yeah same here. Really hoping for the best.

RTTS will have some significant changes that Y2Y will not work. Load outs and the exciting Video Blogs (next gen only) and audio blogs for current gen.

So next week is a big big week in seeing what has really been done (besides the stadium creator) for franchise mode.

This was posted in the RTTS stream thread....

Since in the stream they mentioned you start at AA level I'm guessing that means there won't be expanded rosters or at least not a playable A ball.

We'll see if they talk about it next week.

Depending on how many people you want in an online franchise environment, and if you trust them well enough, my buddy and I always had a generic PSN account we shared the login info for. Since any account can play the games on your system, we'd just use that shared account to start up a franchise that controlled two teams and would share an offline franchise that way.

The downside is only one can be playing their game at a time, but it is a workaround to getting some semblance of an online type franchise experience. I'd play my game then sign off, he would login and play his game, rinse repeat. If you're the types to want to play all 162, I could see how that would get old, but we are the types that only played 2 games over in-game week and simmed the rest, so it wasn't all too inconvenient for us.

                              - Rotating interleague schedules (and random Spring Training schedules after the first year)
                              - Teams that are declared to be rebuilding or contending and act that way in free agency and re-signing players
                              - Buyers and sellers at the trade deadline
                              - Realistic budgets
                              - Customizable managers and more accurate manager re-signing
                              - Fix the playoff roster eligibility to match real life
                              - Bigger trades

I’m sure there’s more I’d love to see.
